La casa veche
You’ll find a short a la carte menu with mostly European / Mediterranean food prepared by our experienced Transylvanian chef. You’ll be served with food for friends and family, fresh, quickly prepared and based on mostly locally sourced ingredients. The food is paired by a great selection of quality beer and Romanian wines.
Finally, you’ll be pampered with a small selection of great homemade deserts.

Maybe we chose the wrong evening, a Thursday at the beginning of August. Very few people there, and we ordered the sharing first course - 2 of the the 3 salads unavailable. Ordering was not straightforward in any case as all except one of the staff (who later disappeared) spoke little English. The food was variable - stuffed cabbage leaves were good, and the polenta in a different style and good too. All the portions were huge, and our total bill including wine was extremely modest. Saying I wouldn’t recommend it is a bit harsh, but we don’t live nearby, and so wouldn’t go that far again when it’s too uncertain. It felt a good honest place, and if I lived round the corner, maybe it would be different.
An interesting menu served in a no-frills venue. Good value for money.
Great Romanian food, always a pleasure to eat here!
Very nice and tasty food, great wine and really good customer service. Definitely going back!
Great food, attentive service and excellent value. Delicious Romanian wine! Only thing I could suggest would be to turn the music down slightly, had to yell to hear each other sitting opposite and the tables around us were also yelling to have conversations.
On arrival, restaurant was a little empty but to be expected on a Sunday.
Sat down, given menus but then left for a good 10 mins before anyone came back to check if we were ready to order and to take the drinks order.
Ordered food, starters came out fine which were okay. Then about 5 mins later more starters but different ones appeared and then some confusion about who they were for.
Mains arrived and my fathers dish was stone cold, mine was warm but edible. We said to the waiter about my fathers dish which they took away and then 5 mins later it was back and was hot.
The venue had a saxophone player which was lovely although would be good if the volume was a little bit lower as it meant you had to shout at each other to be heard.
I will try the place again but they need to improve on service etc compared to other restaurants in the area.
