La Cote D'Or
A delightful restaurant ambiance with excellent service, but the food is uneven. This night the beef bourguignon was overwined and under seasoned, wile the very expensive Dover sole was lacking in taste and served minus the lemon butter sauce. On other occasions, the food has ranged from excellent to average to mediocre. Nonetheless, I keep going back because I like the place.
The cassoulet was wonderful. They don't have it all the time, so when they do, I'm sure to go.
What can you add to something that is perfect? We are never disappointed. I always celebrate my birthday there. This year I missed Jacques. He was not there. I think that Jean Marc is wonderful Jacqueline
The quality of the food served was not above mediocre and I resent a waiter pushing you to order more food than what you want or can eat. If that continues I will not return .
this is the quintessential neighborhood bistro - good food and attentive service. Always have a lovely time.
it is a little loud at times, as tables are relatively close together.
Also, it would be nice to have a little more variety in the menu - perhaps adjust seasonally.
We enjoy going there but the basic menu doesn't offer enough interesting choices to warrant going more frequently. last time I had the fish, it was overdone, so I have stricken the fish choices off the list. With more variety, we would go more regularly.
Also, it is a lovely choice for lunch. Went there recently and the menu offered a lot of options.
La Cote D'Or is a favorite of my husband's for the last ~18 years, so our son (17 yo) and I were delighted to take him there for his "big 60" b'day Sat 2, 2019. Pluses: excellent service, very good food. Negatives: (1) we arrived at 7:00pm and, having made reservations, were given a very good table - the problem is that until almost 8:15 the room was very noisy, making quiet conversation between the 3 of us difficult and forcing us to hear more of the other diners' conversations than we were interested in, and (2) extremely limited options for a vegetarian (me). Lastly, young, seemingly new waiter got quite confused - although the reservation was in my name and made clear that birthday was my husband (male person), he brought the celebratory dessert while I was in the bathroom and got quite confused. Restaurant recouped nicely and compted us 2 of the 4 desserts - however, poor young man was mortified. We'll definitely go back for the next appropriate occasion.
A neighborhood gem, indeed. Keep up the wonderful job! :)
Allows charming and gracious with excellent French cuisine. A great neighborhood dining experience.
The food was fantastic. We caught the last night of restaurant week so we were able to get a three course meal for a great value. Service was friendly and timely. We will go back.
Very good food. We went during the Arlington restaurant week and this is one of the few restaurants that used their normal menu so the value was fantastic. We ordered escargots and a cheese plate for our appetizers, both of which were excellent; seafood crepes (which were served in a boat type dish which seemed odd but helped contain the sauce and such) and the Babette steak which was excellent; and the bread pudding and floating island for dessert - both of which were good but not great. Nice place with a few different types of rooms to eat in. The service was adequate but definitely not quick. Regardless, going during restaurant week made the whole evening totally worth it.
The only issue was when we were asked by the water boy if we wanted sparkling or tap water. My wife then asked if the sparkling water was free, and the water boy said yes. When we got the check it showed $6.99 cost for the San Pelegrino. We did not ask to have the check changed, but don't the staff servers know the difference between complimentary, free and cost?
We enjoyed discovering La Cote d'Or on Oct. 26, 2019. It was Arlington Restaurant Week. But besides the advantageous deal, we absolutely loved the food, prepared with such detail, care. Every course was absolutely delicious! (Haute Cuisine!) The wonderful friendly service (Christian was so attentive to all our needs and was very friendly and classy) was perfect ("grande classe"). Even the gentleman who served the water was so polite, and classy. The atmosphere was warm and intimate. Real French Cuisine! We highly recommend this lovely restaurant and we'll be back.
Fantastic food and service with Christian! Loved the restaurant week brunch menu.
Came here for Restaurant Week with a friend. Although the service was good, the food was just alright. Also thought the prices were a bit high for the quality we got.
We had a great Restaurant Week lunch at Côte d’Or. Our 4 guests from Maryland were so delighted that they are planning another visit. The lunch choices fit everyone’s palate. From appetizers to desserts, the culinary experience was wonderful.
The service was delightful — present but not intrusive on our romantic evening. Restaurant Week menu was an outstanding deal, but even the ordinary prices were acceptable. There was an excellent wine list. The only thing I could suggest is that a few half bottles of wine be added to the menu.
M son-in-law and daughter were visiting from Indiana. We had the best meal
I've had in the 45 years I've lived in Virginia. Regret is not finding this
terrific restaurant sooner.
Great food. Best value too. it was restaurant week and they offered the entire menu to choose from. Can’t wait to go back!
Great date night at La Cote D'Or. Will definitely be back soon
Always a great experience: food is superb, service very attentive without being overbearing.
We are regulars at La Cote d'Or. On this occasion we took two friends for lunch. The food and wait staff were wonderful. Language could have been a problem, but our server was multi-lingual. Hooray!
Always love La Cote d’Or. Food, ambience, service reminds of restaurants in France.
Great food. Great service. Quiet. Great setting and room.
Wonderful! Keep it up and doing the same fabulous job! :)
A 50th anniversary family celebration. We set up an early reservation, were seated promptly, and received outstanding service throughout the three courses of the meal. Escargot, French onion soup and roasted goat cheese salad were especially nice appetizers. The rack of lamb as main course was cooked exactly to the preference of each diner, the mussels, as always, were delicious, as were the sautéed sea scallops. Desserts were very good, as was the wine list. As aperitif, the raspberry Kir chambord was elegant and delicious. We were very happy we chose La Côte d'Or.
My friends and I at there often. It's easy to park, the food s god, the noise level tolerable. We often celebrate each other's birthays there amd I hope we will continue to do so.
The Sunday brunch was superb - everything about it and especially the quality of the food.
We have been going to La Cote D'or for years, and now more than ever before it offers great quality
for very reasonable prices. Quiet for good conversation and enjoyable. Highly recommend it.
It's a quaint restaurant, the servers are great and attentive. The food was okay - it was fresh but the taste was just 'eh'. It was a nice time/dinner.
La Cote D’Or never disappoints. The food is served beautifully and is always delicious. Love the three tier menu options (appetizer, entree and dessert)—one for $38 and one for $48. The “new chef-owner” has done a great job of keeping some of the old favorites on the menu and introducing some new exciting dishes. I so appreciate that he has kept the raspberries and caramel dessert. It’s my favorite and is always served with the most beautiful raspberries. I love this place!
Great service and even better food.
We always enjoy the food here. Lunch or dinner it is always excellent.
Birthday get together with a friend. Everything was perfect
Excellent service, food, ambiance including low noise level. Fantastic value for excellence in all phases of dining enjoyment. Definitely recommend!
Classic French food and ambiance. Escargots and the onion soup were very good. Rack of lamb and rib eye hit the spot and the profiteroles were awesome. Service was excellent. Wine list very approachable and reasonable. Always enjoy coming here when visiting family nearby. Lots of dining options in the area but if a relaxed classic French Café experience is what you’re looking for, this is the place.
Excellent, charming little nook of a place. Excellent food, service, ambiance.
Lovely restaurant with terrific French food. The salads are especially wonderful (where do they get buttery Boston lettuce year-round?) and the crepes, omelettes, fish, bread and creme caramel are all stand-outs.
Great food, service. Perfect Sunday night setting for getting together with an old friend
Great flavor~Have never been disappointed. Patrons become regulars.
The personal attention is so nice! Not a chain restaurant at all!
The food is excellent and always a special treat to go to La Cote D'Or
We love quiche Lorraine but this chef doesn't make it according to recipes. Has he ever looked at a recipe to see that NO ham is included . . . it is ALL bacon!!!
