La Foresta Restaurant
First time dining here food and the service was excellent!
We were very happy with everything. We had a 5th person join us unexpectedly and the server made sure she was accommodated in every wan and in a timely manner.
The only issue was the two gentlemen at our table ordered a Lobster and Pasta dish. They believed it was to be served in a cream sauce (something they had before) but it came in a thick red sauce instead. Had they known that they would have ordered something else.
Oh, the Appetizer Antipasto was fantastic!!!
My family took my sister for a birthday meal and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The owner was there to greet us and spent time speaking to our dad as if they were friends. I have been to La Foresta only a few times as I live out of state, but when I come to visit family my wife and I always suggest patronizing this restaurant. And, if you a looking for a good bourbon look no further than La Foresta. They have a selection that will WOW you.
Food and service were excellent!
Can’t wait to go again! 😁
My wife and I decided to go out to dinner this past Sunday afternoon, so I made reservations at La Foresta. It was well worth the trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and highly recommend it as a place to go for a romantic dinner.
The space is pretty. The staff is great. Very polite. They know their menu and specials. But the kitchen uses chicken broth in every single dish. Every sauce. Even red sauce. Most Italian restaurants, that are not chains, but have their own chef created recipes. Why? This is a short cut. And the reason I care and know is because I have a very unusual food allergy. Poultry. So the only thing on the entire menu I could eat was steak. And salad. At an Italian restaurant. And none of the sauces they put in their beef dishes were an option. Who uses chicken broth in every single thing in the restaurant? I found that a sad commentary on their chefs abilities. The steak was fine. Cooked as ordered. The salad was good. Fresh and as ordered. But please make an effort to make recipes that are more authentic. Using proper bases.
This was our first time dining here. We had an awesome meal and awesome time. Kathy waited on us. She made us feel right at home and treaded us like family. She was very knowledgeable of the drink and diner menus. Kathy was very attentive but not hovering. Thanks Kathy for a great evening!
We had a really good time. We were sat right on time for a 6:30 reservation. The greeter was very pleasant. The waitress was very friendly. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent, as was the wine. We were not rushed at all, even though the restaurant was crowded. We will definitely go back , and tell our friends about this gem. Thank you for a nice evening.
Always a wonderful experience. We encourage anyone to have a meal here! It never disappoints.
Pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and there were ample choices on the menu. Noise level was low unless you dine in the lounge which had a nice lively feel and a pianist. We ate in the dining room which was nicely decorated. I had the Cod and my wife had the Veal. Both were absolutely delicious. The wine and cocktail selections were also awesome as well as the very attentive waitstaff. We highly recommend this restaurant and plan to be back soon.
For our first time dining there, the service was amazing and the food delicious. Enjoyed my wine tour and we cannot wait to go back! Love it love it!!
Excellent as always!
Great food in casual atmosphere.....extensive wine list. Bar is great for either drinks or dinner seating. Definitely will return again!
Delicious food, fantastic wine list and wonderful ambience. Great restaurant.
We had a bad experience there one year ago but decided to try again. We are so glad we did! The food was cooked to perfection! I had a filet..it was amazing! The service was attentive and polite and the drinks were well made. Looking forward to going again!
The food and service were outstanding. From the minute we walked in everyone was helpful and attentive. Will definitely go back again soon.
My family and I love going to La Foresta! Great food, great service, great atmosphere equals great fun!
I called a few days prior to our reservation as to whether or not there would be a limited menu as we were going the day after Valentine’s Day. I was advised on the 14th there would be a limited menu but not the 15th. We show up on the 15th and there was a limited menu. Per the waitress “they” decided to extend the limited menu. Asked for drink menu and was advised they are serving wine tonight and there was no menu available. Small table with limited movement and packed into a small room. Definitely not worth the money.
To expensive for the amount of food you get. But the staff was very friendly.
I scheduled a reservation for 8:30 and drove from Stamford CT that evening to get there. Once we arrived at 8:25, we were told they were not sitting 8:30 reservations. We waited in a line for 30 minutes which barley moved and decided to leave before we waited another hour to be seated.
The food was average and overpriced, however, the service was good
My boyfriend took me to dinner on Valentine's Day. This was our first time at La Foresta. Everything was amazing to say the least. We ordered the meat and cheese platter to start. Then we ordered the gnocchi with carmelized egglant and melted fontina, and the rigatoni bolognese. They certainly aren't skimpy on the portion sizes! There was plenty of food. And of course even though we were stiffed beyond belief we ordered the blackberry creme brulee for dessert which was out of this world. The menu on Valentine's Day was limited so more of a reason to go back! Everything was delicious. The wine list was a little overwhelming so I hope your on your game if you plan to order a bottle :) It's huge book of wines from everywhere!
My husband and I had a very nice Valentine's day lunch there. The
The special signature dish was not special at all and would not have been a value at half the price. The large portion of sea bass had soggy bread crumbs and little flavor. A huge portion of mashed potatoes was warm, not hot. A small portion of julienne vegetables was good. For the price, just under $40, I would have expected a salad to be included, but that would have added another $10 to the bill. Dessert was a large piece of cheesecake, again nothing special, and the two of us didn’t even finish one piece between us. Beautiful restaurant aesthetically but the food lacking. Perhaps I should have tried an Italian pasta dish. But I won’t be returning.
This was our first visit to La Foresta after seeing it featured on Channel 8. The food looked amazing and the wine list was said to be quite impressive. It's a 55 minute ride from home (Fairfield County), but we were quite curious so decided to 'make the trip' on a Saturday night. It was a very easy and enjoyable ride (better than driving to Greenwich or Stamford) with a huge and convenient parking lot. The restaurant was bustling, with 3 separate dining areas, and Francesco (the owner) was very welcoming and friendly despite how busy it was. We were seated very comfortably and the ambiance was fun and energetic. The wait staff was very attentive yet didn't rush us at all. We ordered drinks and a glass of wine, and our meals were absolutely delicious. The drive home went by quickly as we discussed the great dinner we just had. Will definitely be going back, with friends and family in tow. It's ABSOLUTELY worth the drive from anywhere in the state! faleminderit Franceso!
We're "foodies" new to the Madison-Killingworth area and in the process of checking out area food establishments. LaForesta has been on the list and waiting for a special occasion. We went on a Friday night, so I made reservations on line, a simple process from the web site. We arrived a few minutes early for our 6:30, and were greeted by the owner and seated quickly. The dining room is beautifully decorated and comfortable. Noise level was moderate and not an intrusion. Colleen was our server and did a great job with the menu. From my observation, all of the servers seemed to be experienced (no kids). We never felt rushed, and had lots of time to enjoy the ambiance, the wine, and conversation without constant intrusion. The calamari appetizer was tender with plenty of cherry peppers and rings. I like the tentacles, but there wasn't a lot of them on the plate. Not a major issue, just my preference. I had the braised Angus short ribs, no knife needed, tender and delicious. My wife had the Sea Bass special with a generous sized fillet. Veggies were crisp and fresh, and the mashed potatoes were as good as mom used to make. We had an excellent bottle of Malbec with dinner. Cork is provided so that you can bring remaining wine home. The wine list is among the best in the state with over 10,000 bottles! We skipped dessert but finished off the meal with two cappuccinos. Good but a bit too much milk for my taste. On the far side of the restaurant from where we sat is a large square bar with a piano player on the night we were there. It looked like a nice place to have a cocktail either as an end of the week hangout or just waiting for a table. We expected it to be packed, but the restaurant was about half full between 6:30 and 8:30. The menu is extensive without being overly large. Pricing is on the expensive side, with pasta dishes ranging from 23 to 28 dollars. Entrees ranged from 30 to 50 dollars and were high quality. We will be back!
