Love this place. Nice setup, good food, good service, and prices.
I have visited La Puerta Verde a number of times and every time I feel as though it gets better each time. The ambiance is amazing, the service always top notch, and the food absolutely delicious.
Maria was an amazing server! Is like a host house. We enjoy our food drinks and tequilas. We definitely will be back.
Very great ambiance. The food was superb. The server and wait staff were very pleasant, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. They have tables and booths. The booths are more intimate and right by the kitchen, which was a plus also. Their brunch is also amazing and they just started it up again.
Great service da food was so delicious thank you LA Puerta Verde❤
Excellent! The food and service was 10 out of 10! Happy and we will definitely be back.
We love La Puerta Verde so much! The food is outstanding every time. The service is always so friendly and helpful. I have celiac’s and they always guide me through the menu and make sure the chefs know. We feel really safe eating there but also get takeout for a night in. Truly cannot say enough things about La Puerta Verde!
Order the short ribs :)
New to the neighborhood and starting to check out the local restaurants. Food was delicious and everything was well cooked, especially the fish. Loved the ambiance too, very unassuming from the outside
Very tasty meal at La Puerta Verde! Knocking a star or two off because of service. We ordered appetizers, and the waitress clearly forgot, and took no ownership of it and instead said that the queso takes a long time (which makes no sense, plus our guacamole (which does not take a long time) was very late as well). Not cool. But otherwise the service, food, and ambiance were great!
Nice plate but the place is loud and probably not the best for kids under 3. The next table had screaming kids and I felt bad for the parents. Pretty expensive for the neighborhood and food.
Nice décor, great food and drinks, and friendly service.
Great atmosphere
Was a busy Saturday but food was great! Service was on par with how busy it was. Overall great!
Great food, cocktails, and dining experience my date was impressed
Delicious food and cocktails
I am not much of a chips/tortilla chip eater but man, the chips that are brought to the table with salsa are amazing you almost don’t want anything to dip them in. Food was good, weed smaller plates - ceviche, tacos. The mezcal margaritas were amazing and are, as a matter of fact, what I would return fo.
We had a great time. In fairness, I think we were the first table seated at 5pm, so the noise level may be different at different times. We had the Atun Crudo, the Cerviche, the mushroom enchiladas, the Tres Tacos, and a couple of other dishes as well as the sampler dessert. Everything was really good. Their standard chips and salsa are also great. Our waiter, Alex, did a superb job as did the other wait staff who helped either when a lot of plates were coming at once or on refilling our chips and our water. I also love the decor. The Mexican-type floor and wall tiles are gorgeous as is the Latin American fabric on the ceiling of the booths. Chef Raymundo came out and chatted with us and he was charming and is clearly very talented. We will definitely be back!
Second time there in as many weeks. Staff is attentive and friendly. Food is great and fairly priced. Will definitely be back as often as possible.
Not sure what to expect because we are visiting and not familiar to the area, but very pleasantly surprised. The decor is immersive with traditional tile and fabrics everywhere, but it has a more modern vibe. And the food was amazing. Not a menu with lots of taco and enchilada plates, there are some more interesting selections. We had a Chile renello that was no kidding the best I ever had. Just one in the order highly recommend rice and beans on the side to fill it out and soak up all the sauce. Those were a little pricey at $4 each but do it anyway. We also tried the shrimp dish over toasted bread which was mad good. Sauce was so flavorful. Great meal.
Great for kids
We loved it! 3 kids under 10. 3 adults. Prompt service. Quality drinks. Seriously fantastic food.
We enjoyed this low key neighborhood spot. It was not crowded early on a Sunday evening. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. We had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and leisurely conversation. The menu is spare, but choices are lovely and all our food was delicious. We did not sample the drinks, but look forward to returning for that.
We really loved our dinner at La Puerta Verde! Great place to eat before going to a City Winery event. The food was amazing. I especially liked their non-alcoholic drink options. There was a cucumber & lime drink that was sooooo great! Had the short ribs and loved 'em.
Food was great! We all had the three tacos and loved them all.
Food was good, but I don’t know why they don’t have bailey’s, after dinner an digestive can be good
Bland salsa that really needs some kick. Queso was just stringy cheese, also needs something for flavor. They wouldn't let me substitute flour tortillas in lieu of corn for my tacos, which is a deal killer for this gringo.
Excellent food. Great service. Highly recommend. Appetizers are excellent.
This restaurant never disappoints! The food and drinks are always made with great quality. Our friend wanted a low key birthday celebration and she requested La Puerta Verde based on a previous experience. The price is great for the food and experience. My only complaint is the tortillas for the 3 tacos did not hold the contents well and became oily. Aside from that we all enjoyed ourselves.
Food was absolutely marvelous.
Service was outstanding.
Would highly, highly recommend to friends.
I love this place! One of the few restaurants within DC that have an authentic Mexican flavor.
Service was slow and a tad unprofessional. Ambiance and drinks were very good. Food was fine.
The food is excellent. Our service was pretty good. But there were very few diners and the floor manager seemed to be in a troubled frame of mind and it showed. Maybe just because it was a Wednesday night they weren't busy. I'd hate to see an excellent restaurant like theirs start losing customers and go down hill. But, will definitely give it another try sometime soon.
Food and drinks were excellent but service was extremely slow. We were also never offered a second round of drinks. We would have gladly spent more money but I guess they were not interested.
Went here with a friend for brunch and we had the egg white omelette with nopales and the Mexican breakfast, with a side of fruit. Side potatoes, rice and beans, and fruit were all great! The omelette had A LOT of egg white and not a lot of filling- I wouldn’t get it again. The chorizo on the other plate was more sausage than what I’m used to as chorizo- but that’s just a personal thing.
Service was great and I will def come back here- but prob for dinner/ drinks!
Family dinner and impromptu celebration of my grandmother’s 99th birthday. Our waitress was the best part for me. She made my grandmother and all of us feel welcomed and well cared for. She treated us like we where her own family. It was her idea to bring out cake for my grandmother who’s birthday will be In 2 weeks. The food of course was excellent as usual.
Great food with a ton a flavor and the drinks were amazing also! Love this place!
The food is delicious. The decor is fun and festive and the seating in the booths is comfortable.
Our service was terrible, and the food was meh. For such a steep price, the food and service needs to be improved. I will not go back.
Food was great, seated 30 minutes after reservation time, service SLOW. Lots of craft cocktails means the bartenders get backed up easily.
