They didn’t even receive our booking apparently even though I had it confirmed. We had to leave and go elsewhere as they had no where for us to sit and eat.

There for a catch up dinner with a good friend, looking forward to a good chat. Got seated right in front of the giant TV playing the football. Had no idea it was on or that that was a risk. Soon completely surrounded, far too close, by loud drunken men shouting. Nowhere to move to. Awful! Food and wine was okay but completely ruined the meal and we soon left.

Misleading marketing on a food deal, went to get the roast but then found out it was a lunchtime only option (12-3) on the menu. Had a drink then left.

The george is fine as a pub but it's not a restaurant. We arrived 5 minutes before our booking and asked a server how we should book in as you couldn't get near the bar. He shrugged and said don't know. food was ok as bar food.

I have been frequenting The George for the past couple of months now, you are always make to feel welcome and the food is always good. You are left alone to sit and chat and the staff are always so willing to make your dining experience a good one.

Sometimes the bread can be a bit dry but if you choose the Country bread this is made fresh on the premises and is lovely.

Still a nice little haven in the City, worth a visit especially as you can book a table.

An added bonus is that you can book a table and the seated part does not get that busy. They are quite happy for you to go and have a coffee so long as they are not too busy - i.e. avoid the lunch hour.

Not sure if there was a shortage of staff when we ate at the George but we were ignored for the first 40 minutes or so even though we had a table booked. Other people arrived and were served before us and we eventually manged to catch someone's eye to take our order. The food, when it finally arrived, was enjoyable but nobody came to our table again so were unable to order dessert or coffee. We could have walked out without anybody noticing but found somebod to tell them we wanted to pay. There were no apologies or excuses. Having eaten there before when the service was much better I would put this down as a bad day.

I've necer bothered to write a review before but this place was so awful I feel compelled to warn others. Turned up on time to be told by a less than polite chappy at the bar that no-one had told him about our booking. Despite having my booking confirmation with me, I was made to feel a complete inconvenience and the staff could not have been less interested. No solution offered, restuarant now closed but told we could sit in the busy bar - far from ideal for a business lunch. We only odered sandwiches which took an age to be delievered and were served on stale bread. The food was just as bad as the service and that was the worst I have ever experienced. Just awful.

fish n chips for two at lunch was delightfully good. Medium texture batter, not the usual harsh rough coating at most pubs. Noisy and good service in the main bar. However, dined in the relatively quiet area at the side of the bar and didn't like having to wait ages for someone to take our order. Thankfully we weren't in a rush.

The George called and said they had a private event so we were booked into the Brasserie instead. Good selection on the menu. Food was good.

Good pub grub in an excellent location, not overcrowded like so many others. Exactly what you want from a pub lunch.

I dined here with a colleague of my. The choice was traditional pub fayre - fish and chips, burger, sausage and mash etc. We had sausage and mash. It was presented nicely and was much tastier that most pub food. Service was pretty 'could ot care less' and a smile was impossible to find.

I organise a short lunch with customers at short notice, and this was perfect. we have plenty of space, the service was great and we could hear each other speaking.

Needed a place to conduct a business meal close to Liverpool Street Station. I got that plus a good value lunch and post lunch drink. We had burgers (unadventurous maybe but pretty good).

We were in an annex off the main bar which gave us privacy but also not in "the waiters eye".

All in all fair value.Go again? Yes.

Used The George as a meeting place and lunch venue with business clients prior to going to the Olympic Park.
Whilst the pub is a very high ceiling-ed impressive old room, the service is friendly and accomodating. All diners were pleased with their meals; excellent food - possibly the best burger I've eaten - the Harissa paste was a great addition. Portions are generous so we all left very full! Would willingly go back and sample some more of the menu - the fish pie sounded delicious.

Very well located Right at Liverpool Street
Very efficient and open about times and food choices for the time available.
Fish pie was very good, lots of flavour and fish.
Steak sandwich was good to from the look of it.
Quick turn around and very good service from start to finish.
Very well organised and managed for the entirety.
Thank you 'The George'
Will definitely return.

We took a group of clients, who were visiting the UK, for a traditional British pub lunch and were not disappointed at The George. The main panelled bar is stunning, and we sere seated in a quieter back room ("Mildred") where we were able to hold a conversation easily. We introduced our continental friends to the joys of the Scotch Egg as part of the Ploughman's Lunch which was well preapred and nicely presented on a wooden board.

The food is amazing due to it sharing its kitchen with Catch (A great Fish Restaurant Next Door).

The only negative to this place is the sometimes less than friendly manager, who does not like it when large groups come in for lunch. Even though half the restaurant was empty?

The bar staff however were friendly enough.

Although the prices are a bit high, I think the quality of the food is worth it.

The George - Andaz Hotel London - friendly service in an 'high-end' styled pub. You're not there for the food, but for the atmosphere. Nearly all male business clientel during the day.

The George has a back room for people who have made reservations - the main bar area also has a few tables available in what is more like a pub atmosphere. The back room is relatively small (10 / 12 tables?) and basic in terms of there being wooden tables/chairs (semi-pub atmosphere). The service though was very efficient and the staff very friendly and pleasant. This is a restuarant which is not expensive and therefore in the City you can get value for money.

I booked The George last minute for lunch for myself and a colleague in the City of London.
The best way to describe the George is as a nice pub. It's very pub-esque inside, a bar, tables with chairs and stools, but it is table service and the whole place it done out very nicely.
The was a good selection on the menu on prices were very reasonable. They were also very accomodating to the specific requests of my colleague.
I recommend the Club Sandwich which contained literally everything!
