Service was fine - thanks Mario. However, the food was a little oily and lacked any 'wow'. We had the seafood chowder and a few of the sharing plates (a nice idea) - all of them just fell short of their potential. Nevertheless, an enjoyable evening and nice break from the ubiquitous Irish pub grub.
I had booked the restaurant but when arrived it was closed so were seated in the bar. This was fine, however the lady behind the bar was one of the most unfriendly people I've ever met. Our waiter however and the food were lovely but she put a dark shadow on an otherwise great lunch venue.
Menu completely different and more pricey than as advertised online. Told the New Years menu was the only one available and we HAD to have 2 courses minimum. By this point we were given free Prosecco (which was lovely) but then felt unable to leave. It was incredibly quiet with very little atmosphere. Food was amazing, but could do with larger portions. Also felt because it was so quiet the staff were watching us the whole time. Also had no vegan options, after I phoned the night before to be advised they had an entire vegetarian / vegan menu (they did not)
Excellent Christmas dinner. Wonderful staff who are extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
I booked the restaurant for lunch. Staff were very offhand and said that I couldn’t have done that, it must be for afternoon tea. When I showed the booking I was given a choice of the dining room or the bar, and very much encouraged to go to the bar. The food was all right, nothing special and the service was extremely patchy. Our main course plates were left uncollected for ages- I think we were supposed to eat and leave straight away.
Overall what should have been a treat in a lovely relaxing atmosphere was mediocre.
The restaurant is beautiful with lovely furnishings. The staff were lovely and very attentive and although we ate the food it wasn't great.
The Turkey and Ham was a small portion and the top slice of turkey had been put under a heat lamp and so was slightly hard.
There was hardly any vegetables on the plate and we only got roast potatoes no mash.
My friend had the salmon and he said it was good.
We both had the Apple and Berry Crumble - it was stone cold - I didnt understand this at all - it tasted great but why it was cold is a mystery.
The cost was €29 pp for 2 courses and seriously it wasn't worth it. I did leave a tip but just because the staff were so nice.
For a 4* Hotel this really wasn't a good experience and the worst part is that we normally eat in the bar where the food is amazing - I was so sorry I booked the restaurant- it wont happen again.
Sent back food three times because they kept bringing out the wrong thing. Overall food is good but service is terrible.
We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon tea. The service at the Davenport was amazing. Would do it again. Just be aware that they only do tea Friday to Sunday.
Our server Victoria was super friendly and attentive to all of our needs. The food was delicious but we would have preferred more savory dishes
Beautiful refurb. Very welcoming staff. Mant thanks
