Lafayette's Music Room Memphis
The original Lafayette’s Music Room was short-lived but still vividly remembered. During the 1970s, it was a small but influential venue rooted in the most happening corridor of Memphis. A key stop on the showcase circuit for up-and-coming touring artists, Lafayette’s played a significant role in launching the careers of such music superstars as Billy Joel, Big Star, KISS, Barry Manilow, J.J. Cale and Leon Russell, to name a few.
Today’s Lafayette’s Restaurant and Bar evokes that storied past. It boasts live bands seven nights a week, from local and touring acts playing rock ‘n roll to jazz to blues and everything in between.
Complimentary special offers
$5 Moonshine shots & speciality Moonshine drinks, $6-$8 bites.
Family visiting for Memorial Day! We felt very comfortable with masks and distancing on the patio! Service, drinks and food were all FANTASTIC! Miss the bands though :(
It was so nice to be able to get out after a long time of quarantine. They took all precautions to keep us and their employees safe. we really loved everything about this place.
Awesome atmosphere and food!
Celebrated a good friend's 50th b-day there. It was definitely a good place to celebrate at!
Awesome food and great atmosphere. We took our 6 year old daughter and she enjoyed herself. The band is always jamming.
Good music and fairly good food for a music venue.
We were here for a family vacation and had a delightful surprise when we learned that a big band was taking the stage that evening. It was a great treat for our whole family.
Everything was amazing! We will for sure be back!!!
My friends and I had a great evening at Lafayette's. Both musical acts (the Chris & Sarah Duo and Land/Divided) were very entertaining and definitely added to the experience. The food was served hot and everything was delicious. Our server was attentive and had a great attitude. Overall it was a great Thursday night out!
The food and music was wonderful!
Great place for food and local live music in Memphis.
Sat quickly, great food and good music
Birthday party for small group
The music was excellent, the food was tasty, and the wait staff was on point! We had a wonderful evening!
I think they need to lower the volume for most venues. A little too loud most of my friends say.
First time that I been there. Was there with a large group and received excellent service and food was great. Best part was the live music. The Will Tucker Band was outstanding and a joy to listen to.
We love the Sunday brunch with live Jassss.
Our first time there. Our waitress was really nice and took care in her job. Music was great, we will definitely be going back
Awesome... We will be back!!!! I had the Crawdad pizza, The mixed drinks were pretty good, also.
We went to listen to Shelby Lee Lowe and Forever Abbey Road. The music was fantastic, enjoyed every single minute of it!
We had a reservation and had asked for a table very close to the stage and they were great at providing that. The service was pretty good, just a tad bit slow but that’s understandable because the place was packed.
I have never been a real fan of the food and this time proved no different. Appetizers are always good but the main entrées are small and a little bit overpriced for the quality of the food. But overall we just usually stick with appetizers and share them.
Always a great time at Lafayette’s though!
Lafayette's never disappoints. The food and service are always consistent. I love the energy and it's a great place to people watch. Tips: 1. Ask for Maggie, she's amazing! 2. Try the shrimp and grits. 3. We had just missed their happy hour and saw items on their happy hour bites that's not in their regular menu. We will definitely have to come back to give it a try.
Excellent! Had such a fun, unique experience. Will be back.
This is my favorite place for great live music, made from scratch food & ice cold beer! The staff are fast, friendly and helpful. Management are very attentive on the floor and the music selection is the best in town! They also have a devastatingly handsome GM, this place is heaven on earth!
We were there for Sunday Brunch. The band was perfect for a Sunday Brunch. Service was good and we had good seats!
Did not stay to eat it was so loud it was beyond the ability to stay.
The live music was incredible and a perfect compliment to the southern brunch.
Great time at Robert Randolph show!
My sister and I came into town for the Celine Dion concert and wanted something fun to do the night before. I found Lafayette’s online and made a reservation so we could see the shows- the Elton John tribute, in particular. I am so glad we did- we had the best time! I was a little taken aback when we were asked to pay a cover upon our arrival at 6:45, as it was not mentioned online and given that we had reservations to eat and drink- but I got over it quickly. I’m used to feeling out of place in recent years when going to see live acts because of my age (I’m 46 and usually feel too old- or too young!) but there was such a nice blend of petiole and age groups here, it was refreshing. I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting Memphis for any kind of occasion and I will be back as I have friends that live there!
It was great!!!
The atmosphere was amazing from the time I walked in to the time I left. Make sure to bring money for walk in charge but its not expensive. Food was amazing and my server was great!. The live band was very enegetic.
The place is very spacious and roomy. May want to call if there is a specific band you would like to listen to. This was our first time coming here and there was a 5.00 cover charge we were not aware of. We would have rather not paid the cover because we had reservations for the food. Nothing wrong with the band that played, they weren't our taste of music. Nonetheless, the food was good and the drinks were also. We would come back or just order togo.
Always a great experience at Lafayettes!
All the food brought to our table was bland and lacked any creativity. It’s basically bar food that doesn’t differentiate itself from any other average bar. Music is loud, even when it’s just recorded music, making it very difficult to have a conversation. Servers helpful and on top of things. A little pricey for what you get. A huge disappointment for a first visit.
Food was great! The music was good. The music volume could be cut back a bit so that conversation could also occur.
Music is way too loud, precluding conversation. We came to hear this particular band but it needs to be non- ear shattering.
Food was great. Exceptional swrvice
Very good brunch experience. My husband & I split the crab dip appetizer. It was served hot and the perfect amount for 2. My husband enjoyed his shrimp & grits. The blackened chicken made the mac & cheese worth having again. Amanda, our waitress, was attentive. We will definitely be back.
Food was delicious and the service was very good. It was a really cold in there which made it a bit uncomfortable. Other than the temperature, it was a terrific experience.
Our server, Trevor, was awesome. He had our food and drinks to us quickly and kept our drinks filled. We ordered pizza and enjoyed it very much.
