Absolutely delicious, some of the best food I've had
The food was absolutely outstanding. Simply delicious. Good, friendly approachable staff also
I have not been for over 2 years. Wonderful fresh delicately spiced food. Fragrant and light. We had an early bird dinner after work. Friend had never been b4 and was most impressed and she is a vg cook! Definitely be back v soon. Lovely friendly service and lovely bright colours.
Delicious food, lovely staff. Food was bought out timely- not too fast not too slow. Will go back again for sure!
We’ve been meaning to visit for a long time, finally did and will certainly be back! The food was excellent, all really tasty and fresh. We ordered 4 starters and a side between the two of us for lunch and were definitely full (so regretfully didn’t try desserts this time but they also looked amazing). Keen to try some of the mains and desserts on our next visit.
The service was great, very friendly and the food was ready really quickly. Great place on Southampton’s culinary map 👌
Great food, excellent service, very laid back atmosphere, would definitely come back. Only critique is the £5 corkage charge per bottle is a bit pricey.
Excellent food, very fresh and tasty. Great place for those who would like to try something different and not be disappointed
Delicious food, great service. The music was a little on the loud side for comfortable conversation but we were seated directly under the speaker. Such a shame one of the other diners decided to create a totally unnecessary scene when not happy with his food, handled very well by front of house staff, he was really very rude. Would not hesitate to recommend.
Fab meal with great service. Haven’t been for a while but as good a ever. Thank you for a great meal.
Excellent food. Think more could be done to develop Mauritian atmosphere. We asked for Mauritian music to be played which was done
Really good quality and delicious food, the staff were welcoming and answered our questions about the menu.
Thank you again,
Great food again and very pleasant, busy servers.
Please work on trying to help customers feel relaxed by slowing down the food service a bit. We were two people and ordered four small plates to share as starters and one main to share. We did ask that these would be brought in phases and our server confirmed that she would ask the kitchen to comply with this request.
5 minutes after ordering EVERYTHING was brought to the table, with an apology from the server. Under the circumstances, we felt a little pressurised and some of our food went cold before we got to eat it.
I do admire the fact that the kitchen can bang out great food so promptly and that they were geared up for a busy service but on the other hand we weren't there to bolt our food down and leave as quickly as possible. We wanted a relaxed meal and to savour the lovely food. It was McDonalds style haste with great food and a £30 per head bill. We did ask for some of our dishes to be reheated and they were clearly microwaved for us but not every dish lends itself to that.
I doubt that this arose from house policy and suspect this was due to a possibly meek and inexperienced server not being strong with a pressurised and very busy kitchen.
We watched exactly the same thing happen to another couple 10 minutes after us. They ended up not eating a lot of their meal.
Food is crucial in every restaurant and it is great here. We aren't fussy customers and like friendly relaxed places. Everything about the ambience and service was good other than the speedy dump of a pile of food on the table. We had specifically asked that this shouldn't happen and I am 100% confident that the waitress understood our request but unable to execute what we asked for.
fantastic food and service -highly recommended for all occasions
Delicious food, good service very enjoyable dinner
A much needed ray of sunshine on a rainy and grey day! Delicious food and excellent service. Will definitely be back. Thank you!
Came here on a very cold and rainy Saturday lunchtime in January. Lakaz Maman cheered us up as soon as we came through the door. We had a very warm welcome from our server who answered all our questions about the food. And the food was amazing! A fusion of Chinese, Indian and a bit of French - lots of fresh herbs and zingy flavours and as we couldn’t decide what sauces we wanted our server brought us all of them to try. Perfect place for a relaxed meal with friends and family, highly recommended.
Enjoyed all flavours of starter and main, dessert for my taste too sweet. Loved starter and main but portions on small side. Prawn main had 6 prawns!!!! Service really good.
We had an amazing meal, such a lovely place and the service was brilliant!
First visit and very impressed with all aspects. Very different and tasty food and excellent service. We went after matinee at Mayflower but would also be excellent venue for pre theatre meal.
Been a few times now and very consistently high service and food quality.
BYO and only £5 corkage and there is a great wine shop , Cloud Wine, just up the road.
Octopus and pineapple starter a must have !
A long awaited visit which did not disappoint. Charming service and incredibly good food, of particular note the octopus. Already anticipating our return visit!
Great service & loved the decor. Starters were good but was disappointed with my wrap which wasn’t as flavoursome as I hoped. Enjoyed the meal and glad we went as had read and heard amazing reviews but probably wouldn’t rush back.
First try of Mauritian food. It was delicious. Fresh, tasty and different.
Interesting menu, pleasant ambience and service (certainly not rushed).
No licence but bring your own with corkage charge.)
Sunshine food in a great little setting. Always pleased to be here.
A gem in Southampton. Great food and service and a reasonable price.
Great experience- good food with an extensive and unusual menu. Good service, very quiet there but perfect for a Sunday night.
Fantastic venue, great service and exceptional food. Highly recommended!
Amazing food and friendly staff, as always! This is one of my favourite restaurants in Southampton.
From the starters to the dessert the food was superb. So much flavour. Highlight was the Snapper curry, but having said that it was all delicious. Don't forget to take your own wine if you want to drink, but if you forget there is a Sainsbury a few steps from the restaurant.
Good tasty food, friendly, helpful staff, and great value for money.
Excellent food as always. Tasty and different always delicious. Friendly and helpful staff
We were recommended to this place through a friend that lives 5 minutes away. One of us is Mauritian and is quite a strong critic. The food was delightful with only the exception of the roti that had clearly been cooked in advance & reheated, which made them hard/chewy. There was no social distancing in place for the table layout and no-one wore masks except us! We will return maybe one day but not during the pandemic.
Had jackfruit burger! Never had it before & loved it. Would choose it again. When we arrived we were the first table booked but as the evening wore on, it soon filled up. Restaurant is great for couples and groups with a lovely relaxed ambience
Had a delicious dinner with a friend here last night and would definitely recommend it. It’s a casual, low key environment with very tasty food at reasonable prices and reasonably priced corkage too. I will be going back to eat here again!
Nice little restaurant but crammed. We had the gato pima starter & dirty fries, which were delicious. My partner had the mutton rougaille and enjoyed it very much. I had the chicken mango wrap, which unfortunately was not to my taste. We had the alooda and panakon mocktails, both were very tasty and refreshing. The star of the night was the ginger cake with vanilla ice cream, which was exceptional.
Great food, service, staff and ambience. Definitely the place for starters and mains!
Excellent and unusual food of a very high quality and full of flavour. Very good value and highly recommended.
Food was very good. Curry slightly salty for me but maybe not for others. Lamb ribs superb
Excellent food and service. Will be returning soon
