Food outstanding, great views & authentic country dining experience.
Sitting outside was fantastic. The food this time was ok - nothing to write home about. Service can be improved with providing cutleries with mains rather than asking for it. Wines can also be served on time -our entree wines came after the eal was finished and had to ask for it.
Attractive rural setting. Staff friendly , knowledgeable & welcoming. Would recommend Pork with black pudding . Wagyu steak cooked to perfection, as were vegetables. Side of crispy roast potatoes were delicious.
Wonderful food. Loved the use of herbs and spices. The crunchy potato and skins and were to die for (as a side order). Kangaroo tail soo tender. Good pairing of wines with the courses. Perfect chocolate pave desert rich chocolate great textures and not too sweet.
Excellent table service - nothing too much trouble - and I AM a bit fussy.
Afterwards we had the wine tasting and bought some to take home.
Unbeatable outdoor setting allowed to take a very long time over the meal without feeling rushed.
The whole afternoon was exceptional the service was first class as was the food
Perfect food with a perfect atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.
We had the 5 course menu it was delicious with great wine
Sat outside under the beautiful old tree would highly recommend for a dining experience
Have also added a 2 and 3 course menu for patrons
We enjoyed a nice quiet Birthday celebration at Lake Moodemere Winery, this has now become something of an annual tradition.
We decided on The Chefs 5 course selection. We could not have chosen better, all 5 courses, plus complimentary exceeded our expectations.
Our congratulations to the Chef.
Great quite place, great intimate service, food was very good but not worth the set meal prices.
Great atmosphere outside in the garden. The service and meal was outstanding, compliments to the chef and Oliver. Was a great lunch. Also enjoyed the tastings with Michael in the cellar door.

We were a group of 6 and really enjoyed the setting on the grass. The quality and presentation of the food was excellent, however the menu structure and offering was extremely limiting. It's a 2 course menu, with some small starters and cheese which are at an additional cost. There are only 4 entrees, 4 mains, 2 deserts to choose from but they won't allow you to swap an entree for one of the starters. 4 in four group couldn't find things we actually liked but would have happily swapped a starter for an entree (surely this costs them less and we were still happy to pay the set price) or a desert for the cheese. When we asked the waitress, we were told in no uncertain terms that the menu was in their opinion "extensive" and no changes were permitted!! The service was very slow. Only one of us selected an entree and the rest of us waited for food for 2 hours not being served until 2pm. Totally unacceptable.
Was a lovely afternoon, the only recommendation would be music or the seating arrangements. We had the perfect table and the view gorgeous however had a large table of men beside us and even though they weren't roudy at all they dropped the C word alittle too much and spoilt it alittle. But apart from that was lovely and will be back
We had no idea that this venue was there.
Went with friends that had booked for us.
We were blown away by the venue & outdoor setting.
Excellent wines & the food OMG!
Will definitely be a returning customer.
Spent 3 hrs taking in the 5 course lunch & if I had room left I would have done it all over again!
It is seriously that good!
Great job all.
Service staff were amazing and a lovely spot
Easy to review, memorable and have already recommended to friends and family. Will definitely return. And brilliant that as I was traveling alone with my little dog, she was also welcomed. And being a solo diner I did not feel out of place and was made so welcom by staff, who were terrific. I had the tasting with pared wine, it was the way to go. Food was brilliant, wine was brilliant, ambiance was amazing.
Amazing place - sitting on the waters edge, amazing food and service - such an authentic experience - would recommend it to all.
Excellent lunch experience with fine wine and fine food. Great service ..
Food was very good and the matched wines were excellent
Great place for a long lazy lunch. Top location, excellent food and wine. Service was attentive.
The menu was disappointing, with two courses with curd in them. Also, not realised that it was a set menu. Expensive for what the meal was. Have always enjoyed eating there before and have recommended it many times, but could not on this experience.
Absolutely brilliant. Best meal we have had for a long time. Have been twice in two weeks. Great spot to eat outdoors. Great view. Highly recommend.
From the moment we walked in , the place felt relaxed
We had a table overlooking the lake to enjoy the 5 course menu with matching wine which was superb .
The two waitresses were really sweet and helped to make this a really enjoyable experience.
We will certainly be taking our friends there to enjoy this experience
Thanks for taking the time to review our Lakeside Restaurant at Lake Moodemere Estate. We're delighted you enjoyed our selection of dishes matched with our single vineyard wines and our service. We look forward to welcoming you back with your friends.
The head chef came into the gardens to speak with us after the meal, such a lovely touch.
Thank you for taking the time to review our Lakeside Restaurant at Lake Moodemere Estate. We have a small, hard working and friendly team. It certainly is a treat when our Executive Chef, Jarrod Smith, takes a break from the kitchen to have a chat with our visitors. We look forward to your next visit!
The setting and scenery outside was first class. We chose the five course set menu with matching wines. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was top class indeed and the wines were matched perfectly. Nothing to fault about Lake Moodemere Estate and would happily return for another round!!
Lovely regional produce with the winery’s wonderful matching wines! Service was excellent and surroundings attractive and relaxing. I will definitely be returning!
It is a perfect setting overlooking Lake Moodemere. We were seated under a large tree which added to the ambience and provideded shade. From the moment we approached, we were welcomed warmly. The service was perfect and the variety of dishes were explained and the wines were recommended for courses. And what a feast. Our table of 5 had the 7 course tasting menu and, believe me, it is much more than tastes. Each delicacy complemented others and even though we sat for lunch, none of us felt we could fit in any other meal that day. It is a perfect place for a special celebration or even for families as there are elements of the farm nearby. Thoroughly recommended!
We had a great meal here and were very well looked after
The outdoor location was pleasant with tables overlooking the creek and lake. We had quite a delayed start (20 mins) after being seated and provided with water and instructions to pull up the fixed 5 course "tasting" menu on line.
Each of the 5 courses was fine and would have stood on their own as a generous and competent entree but the advertised "narrative" of the menu just didn't seem to hang together- local farm grown food with zero miles. We "got" the chicken egg in an early course and the lamb in the second last but were bewildered by the Mac and cheese, the prawns, scallops and squid ink. I guess the pasta was made of wheat, risotto is rice; but it was a bit of a mental stretch when the non local flavours were so dominant.
Country meals tend to have very large portions by city standards but there is no way we could classify this meal as a tasting menu. It really was 5 generous entrees over 2 hours. The price was at the high end but not ridiculous for the food quality and quantity. Some work on the restaurant concept and narrative would help travellers understand what they are booking for and what to expect.
Thanks for your review. Our menu is designed around our single vineyard wines. We focus on Estate Grown produce, including our full range of wines, lamb, wheat, eggs, honey, citrus, vegetables & herbs. In addition, our chef enjoys exploring his creativity with seasonal ingredients. I'm sorry the macaroni and cheese croquettes with peppered fig were not for you. If you visit again, we hope you'll gain further insight into our commitment to sustainability, estate produce and future generations.
Despite a blustery storm coming in and knocking out the power, the Kitchen did not miss a beat and churned out high quality grub, paired with high quality wines. Owners were friendly and love to have a chat, we were made to feel right at home - highly recommend stopping by!
Thanks so much for taking the time to post your review. We really appreciate your understanding on a challenging day! Our team amazed us with their ability to keep the ship sailing. Our guests helped a lot with their positivity and cheerful participation in the fun. It was a day to remember and one to keep our spirits high. We're very appreciative of your support and hope to welcome you again soon.
Enjoyed a lovey Sunday afternoon enjoying the 5 course lunch with matched wines. Gardens are very scenic and hosts and staff excellent.
Thanks for taking to the time to post your review. We're delighted you enjoyed the experience of our tasting menu and matched wine showcasing our estate grown and made produce. It's lovely to share an appreciation of the garden. The garden has developed over multiple generations and we love welcoming you into our little oasis. We look forward to your next visit!
QR reader at front door inoperative due to lack of internet no one in attendance initinally then staff came and couldn't get the QR reader to work then we went inside to sign in
seen to table and again QR reader to order food not operative
when we finally ordered as the staff member read out the menu off her phone
cheese platter $32 no crackers or bread that was another $8 ? this was a first cheese plater without crackers or bread and on it went, just difficult the whole exercise
We are doing our best to meet contact tracing and social distancing requirements. We understand it's challenging but we all have to try together. I do recall your visit. I welcomed you at the door. When you had difficulty with the QR code, I provided you with a pen and paper. When you had difficulty with the QR code at our Wine Bar, I offered to take your order. You left without ordering. Others were operating the QR code successfully and our wifi is operational.
We came for the cup day special menu. The food was excellent, not rushed and presented exceptionally well. We took the wine matching package and it was perfect!
The view over the river and lake was spectacular!
Will be back!
We dine here most times on our regular trips to the region mainly due to the ambience and dining experience Belinda and Michael have created at their winery. We never leave disappointed. Highly recommend.
This was our first time dining at Moodamere Estate and we were blown away, the location was amazing, the food and matching wines were second to none andbeing able to enjoy such a dining experience amonst the beautiful outdoor setting under the trees was delightful. Loved everything about our time at Moodemere Estate, will definitley be recommending and will definitley be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed it staff were lovely even our young guy who was in training
We had a lovely day at Lake Moodemere - started with wine tastings with Michael followed by a delicious degustation lunch with paired wines.
Sitting outside we enjoyed the lovely relaxing ambience and wonderful service by Belinda and the team.
A wonderful place to take family and friends as well as recommend for our b+b guests to visit.
The day was fantastic, the 5 course meal was excellent with the matched wines
exceptional. Golf was fun, a great day out I(we) will be back soon.
Superb 5 courses and wonderful wine set outside under the trees overlooking the lake. A must do lunch experience in the Rutherglen region.
wow what a gem - beautiful food, the perfect ambiance and awesome staff capped off what was just the best lunch!
Lovely overall experience that we have come to know from this place every time we go. We had the full 5 course with paring wines. Beautiful outside setting and the food was sensational. Fantastic afternoon. Well done to Chef and all staff.
