Yet again another superb lunch at Lamaro's.
Came in with the family this time. Normally bring clients but had a Sunday family get together.
Food, service all amazing as usual.
Staff so good and really do a fantastic job.
I ordered a few new dishes as there was a slight menu change since my last visit. The lamb cutlets are new on the menu and simply brilliant. My father in law loved his steak (and he is very fussy). Kids all raved about the Schnitzel.
Fabulous food, a lovely atmosphere and outstanding service. Our server was very knowledgeable about wine matches
Thanks for the fabulous feedback, We look forward to welcoming you back to Lamaro's again soon.
Would recommend Lamaro's. The food in both the bar and the dining room is very good, plenty to tempt you. The bar can get a little noisy, but if you want a quieter area to eat choose the dining room. Service is always very good.
Great vibe, friendly service and great value on steak night. Tasty steak and fries and we got a yum rocket salad. Good drinks offers every night, and a lovely location with wide tree-lined street. Wish I had a local pub like this!
Thanks for the fabulous feedback Anna, We look forward to welcoming you back to Lamaro's again soon.
Excellent pub restaurant- highly recommend. Friendly staff and good service.
Interesting menu served by friendly and amiable staff who do what they do well. Nice ambience in the dining room area, with an open fire place for cooler days. Nice beverage list to accompany the dishes.
Bought some interstate business clients here and they could not have been more impressed.
Everyone raved about the Schnitzel being the best they have ever had. My steak was cooked to perfection. Service was outstanding. Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.
Amazing wine list.
Thanks team Lamaro's for a fabulous experience.
We have already booked our return visit!!!
The Veal Schnitzel (real veal!!!) was once again outstanding and the accompanying slaw, although a little unusual with the use of fennel, proved to be very tasty. Having prior knowledge of the size of servings at this establishment this was all the food we could manage. A lovely meal.
So disappointed with a return visit to Lamaros. The schnitzel was well overcooked to the point of inedible. As were the 2 x mixed grill meals we ordered. Red raw , gristle and overcooked portions together on the each plate. When we made the comment there was no care given, with the standard ‘I’ll pass on your comments”. 3 out of 4 plates well under par. With the expectation of a warm, gastro pub dining experience ,we would have been better off taking our $38 ( schnitzel) and $42 ( mixed grill) to a smaller local pub down the road, payed less and enjoyed it more! Won’t bother returning.
Our dinner was for Father's Day. We were in the main dining area, not in the bar area.
Wine cellar is very extensive (a bit overpriced for some wines). Food was excellent though when I gave my son a taste of my schnitzel, he said the one I cook at home was better. We had a lovely dinner and the staff were very friendly, even after what would have been a very busy day.
We would go back for a special occasion.
Fantastic food and wine
The menu has been changed since our last visit and there was no entree on the menu that any of our table could choose from. The mains were on the other hand plainer, but not great value. The service was good but overall the past menus were much better.
Superb! What a gem. Obviously something of an institution - thanks for brightening up a chilly day in Melbourne. Maître D was amazing - legend.
Thanks Ben, Great to hear you enjoyed the experience. The front of house team does a great job. They are a superb team. We look forward to your return visit. Kind Regards Paul Dimattina Owner
Loved every moment of our lunch on Sunday. The waiters and waitress were all real characters, real people not just people paid to do a job. They had fun with us which made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. Then there was the food. Delicious. Will definitely making a bee line back to Lamaros Hotel.
Thank you for the glowing feedback. We have a wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, fun and awesome front of house team. They compliment our venue and the terrific food our kitchen team puts together. Look forward to seeing you here again soon. Warm Regards Paul Dimattina Owner
Excellent venue for very good food and able to hear oneself speak. Why don't more places have carpet! Good service and everyone was satisfied. My steak was not that wonderful - a little tough - but all others were very happy. Friendly host. Best thing - plenty of car parking.
Great neighbourhood Gastro Pub. We enjoyed the pre-dinner drinks at the bar, the meal and service was all very good and the place had a really good atmosphere. We’ll be back.
We had dinner at the wonderful Lamaro’s bar & restaurant Sat night. Excellent and attentive service and an exceptional menu and presentation of our meals made this really a night to remember.
Well done team Lamaro’s
Rusty & Judy.
Thanks for the lovely review Rusty and Judy, We look forward to your next visit here. The entire team prides themselves on the exceptional food and service they provide. Warm Regards Paul Dimattina Owner
Welcoming staff, beautiful table near the fire, great menu choices and really, really enjoyable food. We had a great night made all the better by the excellent service we received from the staff. We are local and we will be back!
Thanks Natalie, We really do have a wonderful ambient venue here at Lamaro's. Thanks for the glowing words. All our team really pride themselves on the high level of service and food they provide. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind Regards Paul Dimattina Owner
Lamaro’s is more fab restaurant than your typical inner city hotel ... great bar and ambience. Then you wander into the dining room and Paul and the staff really look after you. Excellent wine list and a menu created by renowned chef Geoff Lindsay. On the expensive side but totally worth it. We’ve been there many times ... Lamaro’s never disappoints. Berni
Unfortunately the restaurant was out of 2 of the bottle of wines we wanted. Also out of one of the desserts we wanted. But were kind enough to give us a free dessert. Overall food was superb, ambience lovely & we had a great night. Staff very friendly & accommodating. Will definitely be back.
The food is fantastic - particularly the steaks which are cooked to perfection. The only downside was the wine list - there are very few offerings below $65 even in white wine which makes the outcome a little more expensive that you might imagine from the reasonably priced (ie great value given the quality for money menu).
The steak is phenomenal. It has a nice crust and it great. Use the sauce for the chips and just have it with horseradish or mustard.
Always really enjoy Lamaro's. The food is top quality with service to match. It's a terrific atmosphere and you never feel like you're being pushed out the door.
The Mussel dish was outstanding. I really loved it. Thank you
Enjoyed a lovely evening. Great food and wine with very friendly and helpful staff. Will be back.
Beside outstanding food, service and ambience, the venue is quiet, no loud music. We can actually talk to and hear each other.
Food was fantastic. Service was awful. Sommelier was terrible with his highly unprofessional upsell attempt and we were constantly waiting to place our order for drinks and food.
As always, reliable, tasty food served with a flair. The red duck curry with sweet and sour sauce was really different and the Wiener schnitzel was tender and tasty.
Perfect location for a business luncheon. Great service and ambience.
Seriously one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time.
My friends and i shared a few entrees. They were all outstanding.
Scallops were amazing as was the steak tartare. I had the Scotch fillet for main course and it was cooked to perfection. My guests had the Duck Curry, Veal Schnitzel, Whole Fish and Eye Fillet steak. Everyone commented on how terrific everything was. The service was impeccable, the staff were friendly, effecient and attentive to our needs. The wine list is one of the best i have seen. I dine out at least 3-4 times a week and this place is next level. The surrounds are wonderful, the food impeccable and ther service magnificent. Compared to what i have had elsewhere lately the value for money is exceptional as the quality of the produce is top class. I will be back and spreading the word to all my friends on how good Lamaro's is.
Well done guys
Great food, ambience and service. Defiantly would recommend.
Recommend to everyone
Amazing food and wine list....love you can have a great meal while still enjoying pub bar area.
Brilliant food and wine great night with super service
Duck curries always a winner and my husband loved his steak. Good wine list if a little pricey but a great dinner venue
I was very disappointed with my visit to Lamaro's for lunch on Easter Sunday. I had the day's entree special .. spanner crab. Much of it was scooped out into the crab's main shell and dressed with various flavours which were completely overshadowed by excessive saltiness in the mixture. For main course , I ordered the whole fish and a rocket salad with pear and parmesan cheese. The fish was well cooked in a reduction and dressed with a few vegetables. It was tasty enough but there was not much of it, all things considered. The salad was not particularly brilliant either. Plenty of rocket but paltry amounts of pear and parmesan. Still hungry and with my first dessert choice not available, I opted for the pavlova and berries with a balsamic sauce. Well, they said it was pavlova but really it was a smallish circular meringue topped with cream and a couple of berries and a pretty average sauce. After coffee and still hungry, I called for the bill .... I wanted to go for coffee and cake somewhere else. For myself and my lunch companion, it totalled $265 (inclusive of a glass of chardonnay each). It also showed that the spanner crab special entree cost us $55 each. This was an absolute shock to me and my companion. At no time in the dining experience were we told the price of this special entree nor did it feature on our printed menus. The entrees on the printed menu cost between $20-$30 and, in choosing the spanner crab entree, I assumed that it would be priced around the same pricing point. So ... not only was I disappointed with the meal, I was floored by the bill. NEVER AGAIN!!
Overall a great meal, with drinks in the bar first and then a nice lunch. All dishes were good, with shared entress and steak mains, but the mussels were the highlight, being some of the best I've had and everyone else enjoying.
