Excellent food, fantastic service!
The front counter girl come across with an attitude, didn’t really speak much. Our table was dirty, didn’t appear to have been wiped down at all. The glasses and the water jug on the table were dirty. The food was average, the salad mix looked old and wilted. Probably not going back. If I’m going to spend that kind of money, I prefer to spend it in a clean environment.
The food was excellent , the service was also, but what we liked the most was the coziness and cleanliness. I would recommend LaScalas to anyone, we will definitely be going back again. And soon.
The hostess was miserable. She barely said anything to us, she just put the menus on the table and walked away. The dishes and glasses on the table were dirty, but when the server greeted us he apologized and took care of it right away. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The food was excellent, I had a hard time deciding what I wanted because everything sounded good. Cocktails are pricey but there's a good selection to choose from.
Two bartenders had nine total customers at the bar but totally ignored six of us trying to get a drink or two before our reservation. We had cash and a credit card sitting on the bar trying to get them to just look at us but they wouldn't so we gave up. Hostess seemed bothered helping us. Then it seemed like she was just going to point to the booth in the back of the place and hand us menus but walked us back when we ask questions. She then made a family of ten with two kids stop eating and slide one by one out of their giant booth to remove their coats, hats & scarves from the next booth over while we all stood their watching them instead of giving us one of the MANY empty booths available. Embarrassed, we offered to sit at the empty booth right next to it or ANY other table and were told "There's a rotation" like we don't understand the restaurant biz. Keep in mind this was a weeknight and the place never got more than maybe 35% full. She easily could have let that family keep their things there and sat us in the very next booth and swapped the servers if needed. Next, eight of us in the booth, only four place settings, hostess said she would get them and didn't, waitress said she would get them and didn't. We ended up passing apps around and half the table didn't try anything because they had no dishes or silverware! Next, seven of us received and finished our dinners which tasted good while one of us waited almost an hour for his dinner. Our dinner and some drinks averaged $58.00 per person without tip which is fine for a good/great experience but we didn't get that here. It's a nice looking place but I can't remember the last place that failed on so many customer service levels. We'll never be back and if there is an actual owner versus a corporation behind this place he/she better start spending lots more time there before it's too late.
We enjoy this restaurant but was disappointed that it was the same menu for lunch as it was for dinner. I was hoping for other choices at lunchtime.
This is the second time we were at this facility. We were VERY DISAPPOINTED with the extremely poor service. Our waiter paid far more attention to the table with young ladies than he did with us. We sat for almost ten minutes before he came to our table. He brought my wife and I our drinks while the others had to wait for theirs. He asked us how we would like the food brought to us. We asked for the appetizers and salads to come out first. Our entrees come first and we had to ask him where were our appetizers and salads. While the food was good, the extremely poor service was not acceptable. The waiter never came to check to refill our drinks. This was a very disappointing experience.
Great place! So clean you could eat off of the floor. Food was awesome and at a great price. Will go back with a larger party next time...
Poor service. Kitchen backed up. Didn’t take visa gift cards
Food was really good. Service was subpar. Our server was distracted and unavailable for most of our time. We had to ask for things repeatedly and she never came back to refill drinks. Although it’s a free flowing kitchen- we had 3 people in our party still waiting for food after the rest of us had eaten. It took well over an hour for their entrees to arrive. This is my second time here and I don’t know if I’ll be back.
Delicious... Our waiter was outstanding (Ian) manager was great so was the rest of the staff. We will definitely be back!
I did not care for the ambiance of this place. It looks and feels like a cafeteria. Our server told us that the food comes out of the kitchen whenever it’s ready and to keep that in mind when ordering. This is not a good idea. I had to wait and wait to eat while my dining companion ate his food so it wouldn’t get cold. Had to ask server for bread ( it is an Italian place) and was brought a bowl of cold sliced bread. No butter or dipping oil. Not the dining experience for me.
Suggest ordering appetizers first. Order next course when done with previous course. Entree arrived before salad. So didn’t get to enjoy it.
Very pleasant, food was good & service friendly. Had a problem with reservation & manager was very gracious & solved our problem. Would definitely return to LaScala.
This restaurant is always good. Nice atmosphere, great wait staff and management.
The food is excellent and so is the service. It was a great surprise!
Quiet romantic dinner.
Our first visit there. We brought 2 of our family members.....everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The food was delicious!!! In fact, we enjoyed so much we bought 3 gift cards on our way out to give as Christmas gifts.
Everything was good. Only negative is the menu was not explained very well and we ordered more then we should have. Or could eat.
Very open atmosphere. Great for a date night or a group/Family dinner. Service is prompt and proper.
Services was good , food was average
Our waitress was excellent,very attentive!!!
Thought the cheesesteak egg roll apps were expensive for what you got.,only four halves for $14. Waitress very friendly but would disappear for too long/ . Overall a good experience though. Food was good. We will be back
Food was delicious and our waitress Jeimi was delightful and very attentive. BUT my salad came after I was half finished my meal and all of our meals came out at separate times with one in our party not even eating because her meal .... Stromboli of all things!! .... was served after the rest of us were finished. We were a party of 6 and this restaurant doesn’t know the basics of customer service and expediting a table’s orders to all come out at the same time!! And to add to our friend’s disappointment, her validated parking ticket didn’t work because they neglected to inform her that there is a 30 minute time limit!! We wanted to like this place! We all grew up in Glassboro and are thrilled to see the improvements made to our town. But unfortunately LaScala’s has some work to do. Very disappointing and we will not be back.
So clean! So bright and modern! Love the food and the servers. Also the GM is very nice too!
My husband and I had been to LaScala's Fire once before and enjoyed it very much, so this time we brought my brother and his wife from NYC . Both found their meals delicious, and priced reasonably. They figured they would pay twice as much for the same meal in NYC! Since it was a Thursday at around 1PM, there were not too many people, and therefore it was quiet enough that we could talk without having to raise our voices. Lovely appointments. Would definitely recommend.
Service was good, as the restaurant became more crowded service slowed. Not complaining as it gave our group time to sit and chat. There was no bread served with the entrees?
Food was hot, tasted great and it all came at once.
We had a 6:00P reservation and were immediately seated. The space itself is open and almost 'airy' feeling. The decor is crisp, clean, and uncluttered - I liked it as well as the large plentiful windows. Our server was excellent and efficient and intelligent and witty. The front of the house overall appears to be very well orchestrated - especially for a new-ish restaurant. The salmon was served Exactly as I had ordered it - rare - and was really a delight. The lasagna was also very good. I have forgotten the appetizers by now - so I will have to assume that they were on par with the remainder of out dinner. There was a problem with one entree out of two being delayed to our table but the staff fell all over themselves going above-and-beyond to remedy the situation for us. Problems occur in even the best regulated of circumstances and their responses in this case were exceptional. I do recommend LaScala's Fire - I liked it very much.
We made our Open Table reservation far in advance for Rowan University's Parent's Weekend, and we were glad we did! We arrived early, and spent some time at the bar before being seated, which was absolutely no problem. Hostess and bartenders were friendly and attentive despite the bar and lobby getting increasingly busier as the night progressed.
Our server (Joe) was terrific from start to finish. As an Italian Mommy (and professional chef), it's all about the sauce at any Italian restaurant, and the sauce at LaScala's is garlicky and delicious.
We knew that this fired pizza would be thin crust, but I found it to be just a LITTLE crisper than I would have liked. We ordered two pizzas to share between three people. My Caesar salad was crisp and delicious. I'm grateful for the large bottle of water left on the table so that one doesn't have to beg for refills. We ordered two desserts, and both were generous and delish.
My husband and daughter are thin crust fans, so we'll be back, and I'm happy to know that daughter's Rowan Meal Plan would be accepted here if she's looking for something other than "school food".
Took our daughter for an early dinner. She attends Rowan University meal was perfect and so was the service.
It was wonderful! Have been back several times since.
Just met some friends after work meeting for a late dinner. A nice “open/cafeteria like “ venue. Not supposed to be linen tablecloth/romantic setting or high-end elegance… It is quite good for what it proposes to be. Excellent food otherwise.
First time here, but will be back. It took a long time for a waitress to greet us and get drinks, but once she did the service was great. Appetizers arancini balls and truffle Mac and cheese we’re phenomenal! The brick oven pizza was just like in Italy. Only complaint was the chicken Marsala sauce tasted more like a Demi glaze. Can’t wait to go back again and try more apps and entrees!
Delicious food, quick service, food comes out fresh and hot. We will definitely be regulars here!
Our waitress Sam was great. My only complaint would be our granddaughter’s Mac and cheese came out 10 minutes after the rest of us (7 people) got our food. Our grandson’s spaghetti and meatballs came out first.
The food was good. The service was a little scattered. They didn’t seem to know the number in my party, or that I wanted to sit outside, even though I had a reservation. They advertised a full service bar online, but there was no alcohol available. All in all we had a nice time.
Absolutely beautiful place. The food was literally amazing, I got the four cheese pizza, my friends got salmon, gnocchi, etc. and they all loved every bite! The service was great, Matt did a great job!
