Always a great experience
Latour restaurant in Ridgewood, NJ, is our go-to place when we want carefully prepared food--from entree to dessert--in an adult setting. Even when full, the restaurant is never uncomfortably noisy, because people who frequent it are conversing not shouting across the table at each other. And Chief Latour's visit to the tables of his guests are always welcome and delightful. A local gem.
Always a winner
My wife and I have been going to Latour since it opened and we think it's the best restaurant in Ridgewood. It's quiet, intimate and perfect for special occasions.
Lovely staff. The food was excellent. The chef even came out to say hello.
From the time we seated and had our appetizers starting with the crabmeat and scallops dishes that were superb to our entrees of braised beef that was off the charts and my wife Lisa had the dinner portion of the scallops appetizer that was simply deeelish!! We finished of the night with 2 orders of the profiteroles that was fresh and oh so good!! A must if your in the Bergen county area!!
Dinner was great. The chef spent time chatting with the diners which is very good.
My experience at Latour Restaurant was excellent. I had chicken coq au vin which was so tender and delicious. The service was very attentive. My dessert...ice cream in a cream puff shell with warm chocolate sauce was so wonderful. My husband and I will definitely return!!
Fabulous meal always!
We were two couples out celebrating a special occasion. Had not been to Latour in over a year. It was a very memorable experience from the service to the food to the ambience. We each had a different appetizer, all of which were delicious. We also ordered some of the specials - the Dover sole, the venison and the beef Wellington, all amazing. One of the best meals in a long time. And how nice to have Mr. Latour himself come out to chat with us about his food, his restaurant, and life in general. Very charming man.
Outstanding selection and value on their tuesday/wednesday/thursday/sunday price fix meal.
Good food at moderate prices. Tasting menu when available is a great deal. It is byob
We always enjoy our dining experience at Latour! The food, service and ambiance are wonderful! Michael, the owner/chef is definitely hands on.
My wife and I read the reviews and decided this place was worth a try. The decor was light blue with vintage drapery try hard to be a French country cottage. We both started with the appetizer special which was an herb Fettuccini with Mushrooms and crab meat which was good. The brad brought to the table was a crusty french baguette with cinnamon swirl. I do not know why. My wife ordered the Salmon with horseradish that came with mashed potatoes and a few shred of carrot. She was expecting it to be flavorful with a little kick. It was bland. I had the Beef Wellington which was what I would call deconstructed (not typical). This was not bad with mashed potatoes and vegetables. It was good but not outstanding in my book. The service was good this is BYOB. We were not impressed. This is no Balthazar.
Have always had a great meal. Michael Latour is fabulous and visits every table to chat and make sure you are happy. Have been going for 15 years. Our “go to place” for excellent French food. Treat yourself.
This was not our first visit nor will it be our last. Highly recommend.
We went for New Years Eve and service and food were fabulous!
Great planning and attention to detail. Food was excellent, along with the impeccable service. French cuisine with a gourmet "twist". The ambience was reminiscent of a quiet, French café; perfect atmosphere for a perfect meal.
We dined at Latour on New Year’s Eve. It was simply fantastic. We began with a sampling of all the appetizers, although we were allowed to mix-and-match as we desired. The menu of entrees was somewhat limited but with several specials it was extensive and well-balanced. Our meal ended with a sampling of all of their dessert offerings. The service was excellent as usual having visited Latour over a dozen times. Great French cuisine without NYC traffic!
Food is consistently excellent. Service is top shelf
Christmas Eve dinner. Service was fantastic the staff friendly and easy to talk to. Our dinners were over the top awesome and the chef came out to the tables, a very nice touch we certainly will be back.
The quality of the food and service can always be counted on to be outstanding
We love Latour. We know that we can always count on exceptional food in a lovely, quiet atmosphere. On a recent night, we both had the lamb special and it was tender and flavorful. The prix fixe dinner is unbeatable! We had the lamb special, fallen cheese soufle for an appetizer, onion soup and lobster bisque , and cheesecake for dessert. Everything was wonderful and tasty. Latour can't be beat! And don't forget: It's BYOB!
The food was exceptional and the ambiance perfect for the restaurant. Michael and his team created a perfect experience for us.
Fabulous job, prepared in the classic French style...
Consistently great, kudos to the chef...
Souffle & French nougat were perfect...
Unbelievable lamb with everything else as perfectly relaxing as expected
Great experience and food is exceptional
Wonderful anniversary celebration. The entire meal was delicious. Wait staff was attentive and the owner greets diners at their table. Will return for sure.
Never a bad experience. Food and service top notch. The midweek special is the best deal around
The 4 course prize fixe is terrific value. Food was excellent. I love the onion soup and the beet salad. Duck breast is cooked just right. The atmosphere is very relaxing. I’ve been there multiple times and l’ve never been disappointed. I love to go there for special occasions.
Service was disappointing. It usually is very attentive.
Always excellent. Best Restaurant in Ridgewood for many years.
For 23 years, Michael Latour has maintained the top quality French cuisine he is famous for. To experience a little bit of Paris in Ridgewood, complete with Edith Piaf in the background, You can't miss with Latour. The prix fixe is a special bargain.
We continue to return because it was our favorite restaurant in town, and I keep Hoping it Will return to its former 5 star self. It is obvious when chef is not in the kitchen. The venison , a go to dish for my husband, was not up to The standard expected. The goat cheese ravioli were swimming in a fig sauce The sauce was delicious but overpowered the dry, yes sadly dry, ravioli The profiteroles, on the other hand, never disappoint
The servers should not take smoking breaks. No one wants to smell the remnants of cigarette smoke on a server when he is pouring wine across a table
In the past, someone offered to hang a diner’ coat. It’s a pity that they are draped all over the backs of chairs.
Sadly, What was once ‘special’, seems dialed in now
Great staff and the owner/chef always makes a point to make great food with great presentation and, time willing, comes out and talks to the guests.
There are always great choices on the printed seasonal menu. Add in a number of daily specials and it gets harder to decide. We both had the seafood crepe which was very tasty, followed by the lamb duo special and the boneless spare ribs from the regular menu. All great choices on a rainy, chilly evening. Thank you, Chef Michael.
Great food and atmosphere and it is quiet! Friendly staff as well.
Excellent as always. Great food.
This may be the most consistently good restaurant in the area. The tasting menu is both excellent from a taste standpoint but equally great for its variety of choices and cost. The main menu offers the classic French dishes so it's hard to go wrong with any selection.
