Laurent at Café Royal is the new Grill and Sushi Bar located within the modern grand Hotel Café Royal on London's Regent Street by Executive Chef Laurent Tourondel of New York fame.

Laurent features an array of newly designed areas including booths and views of either elegant Regent Street or the grand hotel lobby with a spectacular Murano glass chandelier at the centre.
International influences are evident across the menu where the finest cuts of steak, fish and seafood are prepared on the open grill; whilst sushi masters prepare inventive sushi, sashimi and raw fish at the sushi bar.
The bar offers a wide selection of wines from both new and classic regions with a focus on the French 'regal regions', alongside cocktails and fine spirits.

we were greeted by 2 lovely ladies, who confirmed our booking, they took our coats and took us to our table. bar and the room looking beautiful . we ordered our drinks. but I think the staff were under the impression we were eating, which I had only booked it for a drink. but that was ok, we truly enjoyed this beautiful bar I will recommend it to my friends thank you

This was my favourite restaurant in London and I have reviewed it positively many times.. however the last two visits both in the last month were not as good

The quality of the meat isn't as good ... the tenderness as well as the flavour just isnt as good as it was when the restaurant first opened

The service is patchy .... this week. the vegetables failed to arrive with the steak so we had to wait for them to be cooked... the vegetables were removed from the bill, but it spoiled the experience having to eat them separately to the steak when they finally arrived

I am hoping to visit again in January and hoping it will be back to the amazing quality it was when it first opened and on the many previous meals i have enjoyed here

We visited to celebrate my sisters birthday, including my elderly Mother. It was easily accessible for her, with a lift right to the restaurant. The staff, particularly Sheshe and Vincenzo were so attentive anticipating our every need to make sure we were comfortable. The food was superb, and I will be going again and recommending to friends and family. Well done Laurent at Cafe Royale.

I chose Laurent for a nice, romantic birthday dinner celebration and it did not disappoint! Our waiter, Faris, was very attentive and nice. He took great care of us. He also went above and beyond to make sure my gluten allergy was attended to. The food was absolutely amazing. The filet was a work of perfection! And the fresh popover was absolutely amazing. Fabulous experience.

Fantastic venue and service was second to none.
We had the best sushi we’ve ever had it was so fresh and prepared right in front of us.
Great menu with options for all and a diverse wine list to accompany.

Will definitely be returning.

The large light dominating the center of the ground floor is a pleasant attraction for diners at the Laurent restaurant. Framed photographs hanging on the wall include Debbie Harry, Mick Jagger, Queen, Lou Reed and quite a few of David Bowie.
The starter of Cornish crab with lime and lemongrass was pleasant. The grilled octopus with the wonderful 'nduja was excellent. The mains of Aberdeen Angus onglet was good and the hollandaise sauce was a suitable accompaniment. The swordfish was tasty and dense with a meaty texture.
The meal was embellished with good house red and white wines.
Service from waiters at the restaurant was good.

This is my second visit to restaurant Laurent at the Cafe Royal and although good it wasn't as good as my first visit. The main reason for this being that we were sat round a balcony (almost a corridor) and not in the main restaurant. The screaming kids down in the lobby was not what I wanted on a nice meal out with the wife ! Therefore please go to restaurant Laurent but only if you get a table in the restaurant facing Regent Street.

The food was excellent and the menu had a good selection the only downside was that we went for my wife’s birthday and on the booking form specified this it also said on the booking that we would be given a glass f champagne which we did not get.
Overall it was a nice setting but for attention to detail I did lack a bit.

Our Sommelier was fantastic, I was being specific in regards to my wine preference, he initially said they do not have Moscato Di Asti, however he went on a hunt and managed to find one bottle which was enough for one glass! It made my night just that extra special! I didn’t have the opportunity to try the sushi dishes, which I’ll be sure to come by again to specifically try. Suggestions: 1. The bread served to the table (Yorkshire pudding looking) was an awkward shape, and was difficult to cut, would have been great if we had some assistance with that. The butter’s extensive packaging was unnecessary. 2. Waiters needs to be a little more attentive, on 3 occasions myself and my friend had to wave our arms frantically around to get attention. 3. To be faster with bringing the bill, we were waiting for 20 mins and had to ask a second person to help us retrieve it. Other than that, ambiance was wonderful.

They had prepared a special menu where only the gluten free options were shown. Very considerate.
The food was pretty, but a bit tasteless.

Cannot fault this restaurant.

I booked a table for my partners birthday, pre/ theatre. I was a little bit nervous of the menu choices when looking online. However, once we arrived, the wine list had something for everyone, great cocktail choices and spirits.

The food was absolutely spectacular. Cooked to perfection. I do wish we had not eaten lunch so close to dinner - we skipped starters because of this error in our judgement.

The front of house, and waiting staff was very professional, attentive and knowledgeable on their wines/ spirits. They also made sure we had no allergies but I would say, if there is something you do not eat/ like, DO speak up. The staff would be more than accommodating to your needs.

When we arrived there was some terrible weather outside which forced us to purchase an umbrella.

Upon arriving at Laurent at Cafe Royal we placed the umbrella in the stand by the front entrance of Hotel Cafe Royal. Unfortunately someone thought this was FREE and took it. The staff was great and gave us one of their own as an apology... even though it was no fault of their own.

I would 100% recommend and return to this Restaurant.

Laurent at Cafe Royal was beyond disappointing, actually more like a bad joke. When one enters the building and sees the “front of the house” one expects that a unique and memorable dining experience is in store...uh, no. You are shown to your table in an area that has all the appeal and charm of a Holiday Inn in a small midwestern city in the States. I should state that my wife are perhaps the last few of the crowd that dresses for dinner, so it wasn’t as if we were wearing cutoffs and “I’m with Stupid” sweat shirts. The seating area was atrocious (“Would Madame like a cushion as the seating is quite low?”) and was only the beginning. The two waiters whom took turns serving us really should consider alternate career choices as they spent a good part of our evening together arguing together in French (My French is a bit rusty so I can’t say definitively what pressing issues were being addressed between them). Simple things like ordering a Scotch were an adventure (Note to the staff: Scotch is not a clear liquid. That was some type of Gin you brought me. I wouldn’t mention it normally but it did take 20 minutes to get your attention and bring me a Scotch...Second note to staff: “On the rocks” means more than a single ice cube.

Now let’s get to the really fun part, I ordered Dover Sole which seemed pretty simple. This usually comes with a sauce at most fine restaurants (This is not anything close to a fine restaurant, FYI). I asked for let’s call it “Sauce A” (Béarnaise), sounds simple enough, right? Well, our waitress/waiter tag team brought “Sauce Z” something sort of brownish that had a hint of ketchup about it. Finished dinner such as it was and had to track our dynamic duo down for the check. All in all a night to remember, unfortunately, as I keep trying to forget it

Bottom line is if one wants a wonderful dining experience with perfect seafood served by a competent staff go to J Sheekey. Laurent at Cafe Royal is a shamefully overpriced ripoff.

It was a huge disappointment. We felt because we booked this restaurant via OpenTable and we were placed outside the Laurent at Café Royal restaurant. We were the only guests placed outside the restaurant in the breakfast area and overlooking the reception of the hotel. We were made feel like poor sisters.

We had an really important business dinner and our client felt we have placed him in an empty restaurant. At 9pm the staff started preparing the breakfast table for the next morning while we are having dinner.
Great atmosphere. The joke was before we left Cafe Royal the waiter offered us to have look at the real Laurent at Café Royal.

The food was good but the rest was hugely disappointed . I would not come back there.

Shame this new Cafe Royale restaurant is no up to par!!
Having frequently visited the Ten Room at Cafe Royale before the refurbishment, we had high expectations on attending the Laurent Restaurant.
We visited on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was situated on the first floor. Staff were welcoming and the restaurant was based on seating surrounding the atrium.
The menu was a huge disappointment. This new restaurant is totally confused mixing some bland and odd combinations of Japanese food with British food, and the the restaurant clearly has not got an identity and is trying to do everything but achieving nothing. The food we chose sushi starter was bland, the steak I had was horrible as a butter sauce tasted burnt and ruined the steak, the deserts were a boring selection and we unusually did not order anything.
Looking around there were only 3 tables with guests in the room, accepted it was a Tuesday which is what we like so we can talk.
I think this restaurant needs to find its identity and stick to it and do it well - not a little bit of everything not so well.
A real disappointment as we are unlikely to return having been a frequent visit before the refurb!

A truly fantastic experience. The food was divine and the service was outstanding and truly made the evening for us. We had sushi to start then Wagyu beef short ribs as our main and were both blown away - exceptional dishes. Faris was our main server and was simply wonderful - helpful, friendly and welcoming without encroaching on our time together. I cannot recommend this place highly enough - worth every penny and we will be back.
