Laurent at Café Royal
International influences are evident across the menu where the finest cuts of steak, fish and seafood are prepared on the open grill; whilst sushi masters prepare inventive sushi, sashimi and raw fish at the sushi bar. A New-York inspired bottomless brunch is served Sundays.
Laurent features an array of newly designed areas including booths and views of either elegant Regent Street or the grand hotel lobby with a spectacular Murano glass chandelier at the centre.
Adjoining Ziggy's, a cocktail bar inspired by David Bowie's flamboyant alter ego Ziggy Stardust offering live music on select evenings, is perfect for an aperitif or after-dinner cocktails.

A really nice place. We sat at the bar initially having cocktails. Nice decor. The restaurant was quiet. It was early evening. We had sushi and the burger which was very nice. Good service. Waiter was very welcoming as was the bartender.
Would definitely recommend it.
Excellent set menu, every dish was superb.
Booked a table for 9 ladies friends birthday but on arrival only tables for 6 available
This was quickly resolved
Set menu included Bellini but this wasn’t offered until we asked for these - would have been welcoming to have these once we’d sat down
Staff lovely, food good although only 3 options on set menu
We had a fabulous time as it’s such a special place
The ambiance was lovely, we went in early December and they did a beautiful job for Christmas. The staff were very friendly and attentive at all times. The food was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. I had the slow cooked beef cheek for main and it was unbelievable! The bill didn’t come to as much as we had thought either which was a lovely surprise. Will definitely be returning again!
The food was excellent. The manager was welcoming and very accommodating about a small blip in service. We would highly recommend for a relaxing lunch with plenty of ambience
The receptionist welcomed me by my full name straight away (fully aware of reservation), my pre-request was granted, the staff were truly professional, The food were excellent. We fully enjoyed the lunch in the beautiful atmosphere. Definitely come back in near future.
The chocolate tart was worth every calorie! Starters & mains good but more minimal than they used to be on the open table menu. Suited us fine but may leave big eaters still hungry. Staff professional as usual.
Absolutely one of the best restaurants I tried so far in London. Highly recommended. Dessert (Tarte Tatin) was simply the best I've ever had in my life.
Came for a birthday dinner and it was a wonderful experience. Had drinks at the bar and then we're sat for dinner. Service was excellent and the ambience makes you forget how busy and crazy it is right outside. The food was EXCELLENT.
Not really live atmosphere since not too many tables in the restaurant but overall everything was good, good quality food, service..
Always a great experience. Amazing food.
Service was very slow, asked multiple times for drinks but took a long time, mains which were generally in cooked took nearly an hour to come. Food was average when it came and small portions.
Had high expectations but was disappointed overall.
Exceptional. Wish I could afford it everyday. Highly recommend it for business or romantic occasions, either will be great.
Really lovely experience with amazing food, beautifully presented and excellent service
If you want Elegant experience, this is your place.
The food came super late and the steak was cold! then while having dinner some terrible smell came out of the kitchen and all the people eating had to leave the restaurant!
I was really looking forward to this but was quite disappointed. The hotel and Laurent Grill are beautiful and the service was fair but the food wasn’t as good as I was expecting, it wasn’t bad, just not amazing. Also the so called background music is anything but background, too loud and awful. If I want to get taken back in time to listen to 70’s hits I’ll listen to my music collection. The last thing I want is to sit in what is supposed to be an upmarket restaurant listening to ‘Hits of the 70’s’. Whoever thought that was a good choice for dinner ?? My husband had steak and the tiny taste I had of it was very good, perhaps if I’d had steak my review would’ve been more favourable; however I didn’t, I had the chicken. The chicken was cooked beautifully but the sauce which smothered it I found sickly and very salty. The cocktails were good as was my husband’s wine. I just don’t think the food justified the price tag. The service whilst good was quite slow at times. My husband waited a long time for his dessert, so long in fact we thought he’d been forgotten. The really annoying part for me was the service charge. As it’s a percentage, the more you spend the more they add to your bill. I have no objection to tipping, I do however object to the ‘optional’ service charge which so many places add now. Surely if something is optional you should be given the option when paying as to whether you want to add it? Also you should be able to choose how much you would like to tip, because to be fair our service charge was quite considerable and whilst we would’ve left a tip it would not have been as large as the service charge. We tip according to the service we have received and as it wasn’t great this would’ve been reflected in our tip had we been given the choice.
The Ritz Restaurant is much better and no more expensive, also The Ritz does not add a service charge to their bill so you really do have the option as to whether you want to leave a tip and also how much.
Great place, ambient, food and drinks. I’ll choose the bar definitely to sit in. Expensive but worthy!!
Great atmosphere especially in the bar area , I recommend you ask for a table in there .
Food was great , a bit pricy but well worth it
Food delicious, ambiance a little meh.
Excellent service and a good value set meal with enough choice to suit most.
Fabulous place, food excellent, even if a bit pricey
Excellent food and ambience. Would love to go back to the restaurant and try Japanese food.
A lovely restaurant, excellent food and really friendly staff. Couldn't fault it.
Excellent Japanese-style food and good service. Lovely room in a lovely building. The price matches the quality and experience.
Our server was great but the lack of training from other colleagues made for an interesting meal. We ordered drinks which sat on the bar and I watched the bartender trying to call one of the two servers who were just standing around. As our bottle of champagne came to it’s end another server poured the remaining contents into one of our glasses, which resulted in 1 full glass and 2 empty ones. As for the food, it was good but nothing remarkable.
We did enjoy how thorough they were with a friend who was vegan, they always made sure she knew what was within her dietary requirements. The popovers were great and the setting was beautiful. We’ve been to Cafe Royale’s other restaurants and always make it a stop during a visit to London. This was the first time where I felt a bit let down.
This place is so inconsistent! The head waiter makes up "rules" on a daily basis, which results in the diners feeling uncomfortable and unwelcomed. He also made a very unprofessional remark during one of our visits. I would like to add more, but I don't think that it'll lead to any positive changes.
Really enjoyed our visit to Laurent, the set menu was very good and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant. The tables are a bit low though, not great if you have a back problem.
I have been twice before and as before the food, ambience and service was great. Mains were a little on the cold side when they came out but were sorted when we mentioned. Wine on the £££ side.
Wonderful food and lovely attentive staff Only criticism was that the chairs and benches were too low so a little uncomfortable otherwise fabulous
Really lovely place with a nice ambiance. Worked well for our dinner to celebrate my dad's birthday before a theatre show.
Best sushi ever! Wonderful meal, great staff and service..will be back!
Location and design of the space is excellent with the food unique and delicious. I have been here before and found the service was better last time, but still slightly above average. They could improve on their timing of meals and the music selection which doesn't seem to fit the space. Otherwise, I greatly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone.
Lovely place, lovely food, excellent waiter, if we hadn’t had to send 1 meal back because it was cold, everything would have been perfect: they did respond very well to the issue though, so no complaints
Overall food and service was good, the only issue was the chairs. They were really low and not comfortable, specially the long chairs.
Coctails are definatly the highlight and food is superb! Would be great if the restaurant was more busy, as we were one on 4 parties dinning and the room looked quite empty.
I dined with some friends as part of London Restaurant Festival. The food was delicious, service and setting were really nice. However we felt really shocked at the bill - two of us couldn’t drink so had a glass of tonic water each but were then charged £9 each, which is extortionate. I realise places make money on drinks but that cost the same as alcohol! It was a bit of a nasty shock at the end of what had been a nice night. Please put the prices of non-alcoholic drinks on your menu if you are going to charge crazy prices! We should have been made aware of this.
Atmosphere & Service
Opulent! If there is one word for Laurent: opulent. Cafe Royal itself has the classical, opulent, elegant feel, and it’s all over Laurent too. Lots of gold! A beautiful, old-style elevator. Stained windows. Chandeliers. It is a Grade II listed building after all.
As you walk in the sushi chefs are literally on show making the sushi with a few bar seats for the sushi. There are 2 areas of seating, which are very different. One is quieter, overlooking the hotel lobby. The other is more like a bar/lounge area, and when we were there, there was a jazz band playing. Great atmosphere because of it! Quite loud though. I was hoarse after 4 hours eating and chatting there!
The food… The cooking is executed very well. All the meats are tender, moist. Nothing dry. The chips there are very crispy. Most of the things there are very flavoursome with whatever flavours they are meant to be.
I think simplicity is more their style though. Classical in some senses. There weren’t any flavours that were interesting or thought-provoking. Everything was flavoursome, but there wasn’t anything that made me think “ooh, what’s that?”. That’s their style. Not the place to expect a pomelo marmalade, or wasabi infused creme chantilly (actually, I’ve never seen that at a restaurant! Yet!). Doing everything very well, using great, flavoursome ingredients to bring out their flavours, and staying within the bounds of more classical combinations of flavours.
The sharing menu at £65pp is a LOT of food! And a very good selection of different dishes to try between everyone!
Is it for you?
If you’re going here, it’s more for the things that surround you, than the things that you eat.
Not to say in any way that the food is bad, or not worth it. The highlight of it is the opulence I think. That’s what Laurent does more so than other places. I’ve been to other restaurants that have cooked just as well, or did interesting, or avant-garde flavours, at cheaper prices. But th
