Our signature dishes include: duck confit with red wine jus, chicken wrapped in smokey bacon served with Brandy-infused onion gravy, and 6-hour lamb shank.
Our Lemon & Vanilla cheesecake is everyone's favourite, and is served with a tangy berry compote.
Lavanda is one of the first restaurants in Dublin to offer Croatian wines on the menu. You can order these by the glass, if you want to try more than one type!
Don't be put off from the outside. I guess this place is the perfect quintessential hidden gem.
Four of us went there on a Tuesday night, so we had the restaurant to ourselves. Two fussy eaters, and two who enjoy a challenge. We were all very pleased!
The duck confit was the best he had, so the girls also ordered it to share, and devoured every scrap. That was after lovely starters. I had the chicken in tomato-based sauce and boiled potatoes, which I found disappointing. Thin slices of chicken which lacked flavour, and the tomato sauce needed to cook for another hour or so: bland. But that won't deter me: I saw lots of other dishes I want to try. The menu changes regularly, and so we will be back ... soon.
We really appreciated the staff meeting our requests, when we only arrived at about 9.15. We had a lovely evening, enjoyed by all.
Give it a go, it's reasonably priced, of a high standard, and the atmosphere is what you make of it.
I had the pleasure of dining here last Saturday evening, Whilst we thought the restaurant was slighty on the small side and had a large party of tourists in our misgivings were soon put to rest when we met our convivial host. The Croatian wine to my simple taste was beautiful and that set the tone for what was to come. The food was superb, every course a winner, the lamb shank was the best I've ever eaten and my fellow diners agreed. Do your mouth a favour and pay a visit, if you dont agree your tastebuds are broken.
Cannot wait to return.
We had a lovely meal at Lavanda with excellent service. Great value for money and the food was delicious!
No way this place is a 5. Food was good but not great and wine was bad. Sent back the first glass. And the bathrooms are not very nice. Good value, but they need to update their menu on Open table.
We had a wonderful experience at Lavanda. Half of our large party (10) were running late due to a pre-booked taxi (Lynk...) being 40 minutes late. This was unfortunate, as we were trying to make a scheduled concert after dinner. The proprietor, Robert Velic, was very understanding and welcoming, kind, and had a good sense of humour. He attended to us immediately and our drinks and food were served both quickly and gracefully, without a sense of rush. The food was really excellent, too. We look forward to returning to Lavanda again for a relaxed meal that we can savour, as well as another encounter with Mr. Velic, a real gentleman.
fantastisch gegeten, prima wijn, fijne bediening, prijs/qualiteit dik in orde. Grote aanrader.
Gorgeous little restaurant with great food and lovely staff, we'll be back
It was a quiet small venue and we were not sure at first if it was opened, however once inside the owner was very hospitable and the food excellent! Great presentation and portions sizes.
Lavanda looks inside not as nice as the food tastes... Gorgeous food and incredible tasty!! Highly recommended insider advice- small menu but food is cooked with lots of love
Really enjoyed it.
Pretty good food, though perhaps a bit pricey and the seating could be better.
Great food, nice and humor boss.
As always a wonderful experience! Fantastic service and food. Well able to handle a coeliac diner with no issues. Our favourite neighbourhood restaurant!
Lovely little place
The food was amazing and so was the host. Thank you, we had a great time
We were celebrating our anniversary and chose Lavanda based on previous reviews. We were looking for small and intimate. On our arrival we were warmly greeted and taken straight to our table. Our waiter was attentive yet not overbearing and came with drinks straight away. The highlight of our visit was the food. We both had the ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection followed by cheesecake and a take on ‘Eaton Mess’. Good value and would definitely recommend.
So pleased we checked this out on trip advisor rated no 1 ! Lovely hidden little gem food was lovely, service perfect lovely atmosphere would definitely recommended!
Great experience. Best new restaurant found for long time. A must if you visit Dublin.
I hadn't been here since it rebranded, and while I confess I do miss the simplicity of "Italian Restaurant", there was nothing disappointing about the experience. We had good portions of delicious food (and wine!) at very reasonable prices, all served with an incredibly friendly smile. It's great to have a place like this in the neighbourhood.
Went to Lavanda for my birthday and it exceeded our expectations, tasty authentic food and great service
Fantastic! Would definitely return
All the food was well presented and tasty. My only small thing would be the steak for 25 was very small. It is a nice quality and tasted good but it was a very small portion for 25 euros. House wine was excellent and service is friendly. I had the lemon cheesecake which was very light and it was a crumbly crust but I didnt care for the crust much. I like a nice sweet graham cracker crust to offset the taste of the lemon in the cheesecake but the crust didn't have as much flavor and the consistency was too dry.
Disappointing, totally overrated, no recommendation
Lavanda is a very low key no frou frou dining experience, situated a stones throw from Cornerstone. I think the owners much be Serbian or Croatian. The food is solid but nothing special, great wine list, great service and sort off the beaten path making it quieter venue. I had the duck and enjoyed it. My husband had the chicken and did not enjoy as much, probably because of the sweet glaze. My bet is that the pastas are great although we didn’t try them.
A great little restaurant with good food and a friendly atmosphere. The lamb shank special was particularly good.
Very subtle attentive service. Well presented and enjoyable food. Great to find a quiet small place without the crowd and loud music for a quiet dinner with friends who just wanted to talk and enjoy an evening together over good food and good wine. And it was all that for us.
Pleasant restaurant situated just outside Dublin City centre. Good menu and opportunities to choose from specials board. Worth considering if in the area,
Unfortunately we were most disappointed with the quality of the food despite the excellent reviews which we went on. The waiter and chef were lovely people - so personable, helpful and engaging. However the food was far from good but we chose not to comment at the time as it was evident the staff were trying hard to please.
Lovley Bistro Food, with a good bottle of wine. Host very pleasent
Very dated decor with smell of stake cooking oil. Some of the food was actually reasonable and waiter was very nice
Enjoyed our meal. A small menu which is no bad thing. Would be nice to have some fish added to menu. Wine is pricey enough but nice to have some Croatian options. We'd go again.
Good food, service, value and atmosphere. Would recommend!
Walked by this restaurant after a day in downtown Dublin and decided to go back and give it a try. We were very pleased with everything we had...from the delicious vegetable samosas to the authentic Croatian cabbage rolls to the very drinkable house red wine. Lovely experience, excellent food, super friendly service.
Reallly enjoyed the meal,
Lovely flavour combinations
they haven’t got a big menu so worth asking about the specials, before booking,
red and white Croatian were lovrly.
Staff were really pleasant
Would defo go again
Wery friendly stuff, tasty Food, big portion, excellent wines and not pricy.
Had a wonderful evening at this neighbourhood restaurant. Food was fantastic, service excellent and the the Croatian wines were great. Thoroughly recommended!
Nice with ok food. A bit noisie at arrivial but the noisie guest left. A bit to laud music but ok.
Delicious meal with friendly service! Excellent cheese plate and wine, the specials were lovely.
Excellent find, near to Jameson Distillery. We toured the Distillery and were looking for a nice local place to eat. The sauces were outstanding, and the service (by the owner) was very attentive. Croatian restaurant. Try the "Mess" for dessert - very good!
This was our second visit for an evening meal there was no problems getting a table. The owner/waiter is very friendly and helpful. The food is really nice from starters thru to desert and all a very reasonable price.
We will return and would recommend trying this restaurant.
