A delightful restaurant to spend the evening and a charming hostess in charge
Never disappointed. Very good french food, always feel welcome. perfect for couple dining!
As always amazing food and hospitality
Wonderful french food; lovely atmosphere with wafts of the jasmine from outside in the summer; charming patronne; good service; my favourite London restaurant
We have had a Sunday lunch and were surprised that the restaurant was not busy. Transpired that they only started being open on Sundays. So we were very lucky. We were offered a table by the French doors to the terrace so we could bring our Frenchie with us. The food was delicious as always and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Thank you very much L’Aventura
We arrived just before 8pm. I approached Catherine the owner and said I had a reservation. She was extremely dismissive and rude and just said I have no tables. I showed her my email confirming the reservation and she no no I told open table I was full in the morning.
She just walked away not even an apology. I asked her what she suggests I do at 8pm on a Saturday she just walked away. Coincidentally my parents were also dining there with friends and have been regulars for many years, Catherine was aware of this but still made no effort to even apologise.
I will never go again to her restaurant with her attitude she doesn’t deserve to be in business.
As ever a lovely feel and atmosphere. We booked late on the off chance of a table but were made to feel very welcome. Service a but stretched as busy with lively customers, but all smiles in the end so happy too return and recommend to others. Thanks
Good time and nice food
Little but rich but good menu
We loved the ambience and the quality and standard of food was superb. We also loved the personable approach of the staff, clearly a family run business, we had a really nice time ! Would recommend this to friends :)
I had previously phoned and spoken to the owner regarding my eating difficulties, and she agreed to order me a lemon sole and when I arrived and reminded her, she said she had forgotten. She proceeded to take our order and told us to hurry up and choose as she had other customers waiting. She described one dish as being smoked salmon crepes and when this dish was served it was in fact NOT SMOKED salmon but poached salmon, which I had to send back as I do not like poached salmon and would never have ordered it if it was described in the correct way. My friend ordered a coke which was ‘flat’, that had to go back, each time the ‘patron’ was extremely rude and discourteous . Now to the main course: I have to say I did enjoy the fish that was available although it was not what I had ordered, however my friend ordered baby lamb chops and found them very tough, at this point we were all fed up with the service and the attitude in the restaurant, when the plates were collected one of our party drew the waitress’s attention to the lamb that was left on the plate, the Patron came back with a message that the chef said it was very nice! We all four of us would never recommend L’Aventure to anyone, and would seriously suggest that the owner needs to get a grip on how to treat her customers and learn some good manners.
The food was great, but the manager who also waits on customers was INCREDIBLY RUDE and unapologetic when spoken to about her manner.
Won’t be dining there again - in a place where all customers aren’t given their due respect.
Very good host!
Fabulous as always
One of our favourite local restaurants always a pleasure dining in convivial surroundings serving first class varied food.
One of the few restaurants one can dine in comparative quietness.
This is the best value restaurant in London
Superb menu, updated daily, always fresh food cooked perfectly
We had a nice evening but our table was in the back right by the stairs leading to the kitchen and toilets. Not ideal. Food was very nice and served well. The 2-course meal for £35 was acceptable but 3 courses for £45 seemed a bit high. Is a crème brûlée worth £10? Not sure. Nevertheless, I would recommend this restaurant.
Lovely romantic sophisticated restaurant serving delicious French style cuisine. Two course menu sufficient as quite rich dishes. Presentation and quality of food superb. Half bottle of absolutely wonderful wine if expensive. Atmosphere relaxed and warm. Will keep it as a special place to celebrate special occasions as quite expensive.
A wonderful oasis of France in the middle of London
As always delicious food with creative presentation, interesting specials and delightful service. It was an usually quiet night for a buzzy restaurant with a romantic atmosphere and did not suffer
We always look forward to dining at L’Aventure. The ambience, service and food are first class.
This is a warm, intimate restaurant.
Wonderful lunch, they really looked after us and we will be going back. The food was excellent throughout, great wine, thoughtful service.
As usual we had a very nice evening
In very comfortable surroundings and great food
Great as usual, service can be slow at busy times but still great food
Most definitely. The food and wine were delicious and the service excellent without being intrusive. We were not asked all the time wether we had enjoyed our food, our empty plates bore witness to the fact.
Everything was perfect
The food was amazing. Well done. will recommend to family and friends and we personally will come again.
It is worth dining here. We had a warm welcome from the moment we arrived. The Patronne was friendly, efficient & very helpful with her advice about the menu & wine list & which proved to be accurate & helpful. It is a relaxing setting wiht a lovely ambience. A small basket of mixed breads included some nut & fruit bread - delicious. The artichoke starter tasted really nice & was also beautifully presented. The turbot main was cookd perfectly & the lamb main was also very tasty & beautifully cooked. Finally the warm apple tart was perfect. The restaurant became very busy during our visit but the waiting staff were professional & helpful & polite at all times. I have given 4 stars for service only because we were waiting a little long for the bill, however, it was by then very busy & we were not rushed out of our seats. There is a lovely terrace where you can also be seated during nicer weather.
Excellent French food . Limited menu but could have chosen every single dish offered > Food was excellent , beautifully presented and with great sauces. Feels like being in France . Lady proprietor is charming and very welcoming .
Four of us had a truly enjoyable celebratory dinner.
Lovely restaurant. Fantastic food and faultless service. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful food in a lovely setting.
Very good atmosphere, great authentic French cuisine.
Had a friend come to stay so decided at the last minute to go out rather than eat in.
Glad we did as this was a very pleasant experience indeed.
A very warm welcome, a good menu, attentive service, delicious food - very good ambiance although first appearances are that it is very smart...it is but it isn't
Only regret is that it was a Monday evening so could not really get "stuck" in - the next visit will be different!
Lovely local restaurant with a reassuringly short menu. Excellent quality and good wines. Service is always good.
What a lovely local restaurant, with excellent, friendly french service. Delicious food. We love it
Awesome a piece of France in St. John’s Wood great food outstanding wine
Excellent French cuisine family restaurant. Service a bit un attentive by the young waiters
This place was a real find with a charming chef and excellent monkfish. Liked it a lot
Delicious. Very friendly. Totally French.
Always enjoy eating at L’Aventure where the food, attention and atmosphere is excellent.
The food was delicious, don't get me wrong, but it was extremely expensive compared to what else you can get for the price. It's a neighbourhood gem, but not somewhere I would expect to pay £50+ a head with only one or two drinks each. We were alone in the restaurant for about 20 mins before the next group arrived, so it was pretty quiet.
