Located at the new House of France on the Royal Mile (former Lothian Chambers), we aim to provide you with a friendly and authentic French experience, filled with passion and love in what we are doing.
Open every day from breakfast to dinner, we are there for everyone to feel like in France, in fantastic surroundings!
It was our first time in this french restaurant and it will definitely wont be our last the food was delicious and plentiful the service was first class cannot wait to revisit the next time we are In Edinburgh
Gorgeous food and very traditional feeling! Service was excellent too.
Very friendly staff and excellent food. We'll be back.
The restaurant was very accommodating for gluten free dairy free. Lovely food. We will come back.
Handy location, good service, only downsides were excessive portion size for our needs
(a problem with most restaurants), fillet steak cooked medium rare than medium.
So about a third of our mains were left, which dilutes the value.
The option of smaller portions at lower prices is something every restaurant should consider introducing.
'One size fits all' portion policy should be outlawed. Our society's obesity problem has causes, and restaurants need to 'step up to the plate'! And adapt.....
Fantastic service . Always made to feel special . Fantastic atmosphere and the food is so beautifully presented with generous portions and so tasty. My friends who hadn’t been before were so impressed .
First time we had been to this restaurant. Food and service was excellent. Will definitely come back again.
A warm welcome, lovely atmosphere and delicious food.
Wonderful food and wine! In fact, we were selecting what to try the next time we book a table as there were so many great dishes to choose from. Our service was a little slow, with other tables being served before us, however, this could be because we were chatting and not paying attention. We had an event to attend afterwards and as our main course didn't arrive until 20 mins before we were due to leave, it left us a bit rushed in the end. I would not fault the staff on this, as they were all very nice and we should have brought it to their attention. We will certainly be eating here again!
Group of 7 and all of us want to return. Great food, atmosphere and staff.
Great service great food excellent wine a perfect lunch
Five of us went for my Aunts birthday from start to finish everything was superb. First of all the staff were first class which is a rarity these days , then what can i say about the food the quality and varied menu is second to none, if we stayed in Edinburgh we certainly would be there on a regular basis. We would recommend 100% .
We have now been here twice, each time it gets better.
The latter being the seafood night and jazz (In the background so very pleasant and not overpowering the conversation which makes a change).
You can not fail to enjoy both the food and the service by everyone.
I have already recommended this place to several friends.
A good relaxed atmosphere and excellent food. The service was a bit lacking though - we weren't offered a drink when we arrived, and had to go to the bar to ask. After the main course had been cleared, we weren't offered the dessert menu or whether we wanted coffee.
Very pleasant experience, lovely food. Rather noisy in the back room where we were and cold. Took a long time to bring the bill and then it was erong. But all sorted out quickly.
Brilliant place for breakfast, lunch, drinks or dinner. Lunch time was busy so best to book.
We enjoyed a birthday meal here on Saturday 22nd Feb. The food, hospitality, kindness, location and portion sizes were beyond excellent. All staff were so friendly, and we had such a pleasant experience. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh!!
I have eaten at the Bistro several times and really enjoy it but on this occasion the main course was poor. Fish was dry and whole meal appeared to have been kept warm rather than freshly cooked.
Lovely food and great service
Service was very slow and fish overdone and dried out which was a shame as the staff were very pleasant, good ambience and the rest of the food was delicious.
Group of 6 at 1pm for set price lunch. 3 people had starters all of which were good. 5 of the 6 chose cod for main course. Long delay of around 45 minutes to serve main courses. 5 small plates of sea bass served instead of cod, plates were cold therefore the food was barely luke warm. We had not been asked if we would like sea bass instead of cod. When our displeasure was voiced, the waiter did not apologise, just said that there must have been a communication problem. When 2nd waiter arrived to remove the plates, we raised the subject again, only then was an apology given and an offer to waive the charge for the 4 deserts. The bill arrived, incorrectly overcharging us by around £35!!!! This was rectified by a 3rd waiter. THis is the second occasion within a month that the restaurant have fallen short of acceptable service. I would only return for tea/coffee and cake which I would hope would be without problems.
One of the main courses was late and we received complimentary desserts.
Service is a bit slow but, if you're not in a hurry, this is an excellent value venue in a great part of town.
Second time here within a week says it all. Lunch was very good value and the quality of food was excellent Had the entrecôte which was delicious. The Lyonnaise potatoes - wow!!
Was totally perfect. The food was incredible and the staff are fantastic and have a lovely chemistry between them which rubs off on the friendly atmosphere. Honestly wish I lived in Edinburgh so I could eat here more. Such a treasure - will be back!
Cracking find. Brilliant French food- yummy and not fussy. Great location too.
Amazing sea food & valentines day cocktails
Very busy but managed to negotiate a nice table away from the door .
Excellent restaurant. Lovely food and lots of gluten free options, all clearly marked out on the menu. Great service, friendly staff and excellent value. Our own little bit of France in Edinburgh.
Great food and large portions, very friendly staff and quiet environment.
good value, informal French bistro. Food was lovely . set lunch menu very good value and service very quick so good for a lunch hour if your time is limited
This was the first time we had eaten here and we will definitely be back . The food and the service were excellent.
Great service, excellent food. Particulary like the lunch menu.
We liked the spaciousness and the amount of light around us. There was a comfortable feel to the bistro. The staff were friendly and helpful. We each chose different items which we enjoyed very much. Excellent coffee rounded off our lunch. There will definitely be return visits!
I booked a table for myself and three friends for lunch. Two of my friends had the two course lunch (Chicken supreme) and dessert, and two had dishes from the Day Menu - one had the soup and I had the seeded smoked salmon bagel with salad.
We all enjoyed our food. I was very impressed with the quantity of salad and smoked salmon - excellent value.
We did have a while to wait for our lunch. When we asked why we were waiting so long we were told that this was due to the chicken being cooked from scratch. Both my friends enjoyed the dish and said it was worth waiting for.
We will certainly be back.
I dnot eat meat, so the choice is limited but I had the fish and it was delicious. The veggies with the meal were lovely, but for me, the pudding was the best. Poached pear with ice cream. So unusual and fresh. Loved it. Will be back just for the sweet dishes.
everyone seemed to enjoy the food and service was very good. Nice "French" atmosphere and room is very attractive and location central. I had chicken which was delicious and followed by very tasty cake all for £11.95.
Very good food. Simple but excellent taste. Great offer from opentable. Also great for a coffee and cake. Great cake variations.
Very nice meal and attentive staff. I'd booked via OpenTable and there was a 30% discount. My friend paid for the meal but the discount hadn't been applied. The staff immediately noticed the oversight (without us saying a thing) and promptly refund my friend the difference.
One thing I'd like to mention is that the moules frite would be best served with an additional plate or bowl to put the empty shells in.
Lovely place, excellent service and delicious food. Highly recommend
We were a group of 8, out for a family dinner. The menu is a nice mix of meat, seafood and veggie dishes which catered well for us. The starters and mains were generous and delicious topped off with great service. I'd definitely recommend.
