Le Cochon d'Or
The service and food in this French restaurant are impeccable. The server was very knowledgeable and food was served at a perfect pace. The scallops and triggerfish entries were so fresh and flavorful. The entertainment was also wonderful.
Wednesday and Thursday nights feature live French music, enhances an excellent dining experience.
It is a hidden little gem just a few miles south of Charlotte. We have been there three times and plan on coming back. The food is exceptional and the menu is eclectic.
Wonderful food. Beautiful presentation and service. Loved Eddie the musician. Loved that chocolate soufflé ❤️
We went for an early Valentines Day dinner. The food, service, atmosphere...all 5 stars. I cant wait to go back
Nice to put fine dinning in Waxhaw, but lacks the quality and quality of fine French cuisine
Our first visit was on a cold February evening. Despite our reservation we were seated at the closest table to the front door, so whenever customers entered or left, we got quite a breeze. We were seated about 18 inches from the folks next to us, so one might say it was an authentic French cafe experience. Service staff was outstanding. Gnocchi and lamb starter was very good, main dishes of short ribs/ pasta and triggerfish /mussels had great flavors, although the faro mentioned in the dishes description was just a few flakes- I would have preferred a lot more grain, as it was almost a soup (but quite tasty and our server brought extra warm breed to enjoy the sauce!) This was not an in-expensive meal, but a good one, and if we had this in a small town in southern France, we would say "these people really know how to cook! The check came out to speak with us also, which is always appreciated. Biggest need is a very small foyer to give a better ambience to the front of the restaurant.
The French restaurant in downtown Waxhaw is a wonderful addition to the new life that is now a part of downtown Waxhaw. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with the menu and we ordered the gnocchi appetizer to share. It was rich and delicious. I ordered the trigger fish boulibasse and my husband ordered the bison short ribs. Both were prepared expertly and were delicious. We each got our own French press coffee and shared a creme brûlée for dessert. We plan to return to try other items on the creative menu. It was a very romantic setting, slightly pricey but not unreasonably so and the service was great. The bread was also baked in house. We highly recommend it.
Amazing food and service, fresh ingredients, very knowledgeable staff.
The whole experience at Le Conchon d’Or was fabulous. The food was delicious, the service perfect and the pianist was great and very friendly. The whole experience was well worth the cost. We had a great time.
Wonderful meal. Nice to have a good quality French restaurant close by. Piano player a nice touch. Somewhat pricey but worth it.
Very nice. Highly recommend
We love this place. Owner and employees are warm, hospitable and remember their returning guests. Food is phenomenal!
Excellent restaurant, good selection of food. Would recommend reservations as the seating is limited, but well worth the trip to Waxsaw.
Amazing country French restaurant in the heart of Waxhaw, it is a hidden gem. We have never had a bad meal here. Everything is fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious.
Overall very good and we will go back. We sat in upper seating area. The lower seating area has a better atmosphere.
Drove from Ballantyne to dine there, after reading all the reviews we wanted to check it out, the food was the best we had in Charlotte so far. The service is also top notch, very knowledgeable server. we will be back.
We have eaten at Le Cochon D'Or a few times before. We brought friends who are new to the area to show them that there is a fine dining-fit for foodies spot nearby. They said it was the best meal they have had since coming to the Charlotte area!
Incredible! Enjoyed taking a group for a long dinner.
Hidden gem. Great food.
The service was on time every time. The food was a beautiful surprise for us foodies who were looking for something different. We’re definitely coming back to this place.
Well worth the trip to Waxhaw...this is the sister restaurant to Aix en Provence so you can expect the same excellent service, terrific food and personal attention from one of the owners. Great French cuisine without being over the top.
Great food and service, a gem in Waxhaw, French confort food at its best.
Best French Onion Soup I have experienced. Food was very good. Seat was next to door and adjacent to group of 8 other diners, not optimal. Will visit again.
Absolutely outstanding food and service. rare find in Charlotte area.
Amazing restaurant in Waxhaw. Authentic Alsace-Lorraine food! Magnifique!
The food is uniquely authentic with the freshest ingredients. Flavor explodes in every bite. The service is impressive and personal. We will definitely return and have it at the top of our special occasion list of restaurants. It’s a true gem in Waxhaw!
What a find in the heart of Waxhaw. Was at this restaurant last night and left in surprised bliss. It is a quaint little place in a small strip on Main Street. Walked in and was seated right away and easily relaxed as live music filled the room. the keyboardist played American songs we knew, sang in French and even sang to us in Spanish. a great experience for sure. Then there is the food and wine, the waitress recommended a French Bordeaux that was bold and spicy, very delicious. it paired well with our Gnocchi appetizer and warm fresh bread. For dinner, we had the Diver scallops over quinoa and Brussel sprouts.. so very tasty as well as the Bison short ribs that were served over pasta with mushrooms and onions, the ribs were so tender you did not even need a knife. The food was very authentic, the waitress and owner were both very attentive. It was a very romantic, relaxing date night and a very pleasant surprise to find.. Will definitely being heading back there to try a few other French dishes.
After reading Charlotte magazine best new 25 restaurants my husband and I decided to drive 20 minutes from Charlotte to Waxhaw (Very charming little town) The food and service were incredible, butchers board, smoke salmon with horseradish and beets, choucroute with pork belly, duck confit, and trigger fish in bouillabaisse sauce, yes we ordered an extra main course, we took some of it home for our son, to finish the meal we ordered the chocolate souffle and marjoline cake, This was the best meal we had since moving from Chicago, All in we had a great evening and will be back with some friends.
This was out third time to Le Cochon d'Or and as always the food was excellent, very friendly staff. If you're in a hurry though this is not the place for you, it has the laid back French vibe of taking your time to eat.
Absolutely the best meal we had in Charlotte so far, a bit of a drive but well worth it. Great service to match, we will go back again for sure.
The food and service was outstanding as usual. It is a dining experience not to be forgotten.
Returned for my wife's birthday. James, our server, remembered us from a visit three months earlier. Service, as always, was unobtrusive and impeccable. Also recommend Aix en Provence.
It should be a five except for two things
1. Ambiance left my wife desiring for more, especially something to go along with how superb the food is!! Unbelievably delicious
Spend a little more on decorations guys and get an interior decoration specialist
2. We were charged for a bottle of wine 48$ while we ordered a glass and of it weren’t for my savvy wife I would have paid 40$ more!! Totally weird and unacceptable but I let it go to not ruin the date,
Love this place but unfortunately my wife didn’t so much from the get go, let alone after learning the 48$ bottle of wine we never ordered!! But hey mistakes happen, and James who made this mistake was actually a phenomenal waiter and if this were really unintentional and I believe it was, he’s one of the beat waiters that I have ever had serve us!
Delicious food-great wine. We come here when we have a fine dining occasion.
We had a lovely Saturday dinner at Le Cochon d Or. The service was truly excellent- James provided great recommendations and information about the menu. The food was outstanding- from the French onion soup to the chocolate soufflé. We will be back to this lovely little restaurant.
We had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and service was great. Really enjoyed everything from pork belly appetizers, meal, to yummy desserts. Host was also super pleasant. Can't wait to take our family back.
Always excellent food. Great staff and atmosphere
This restaurant is a jewel. Would never believe it is in the small town of Waxhal. The french food is fantastic and the service was impeccable. Will recommend it to anyone that wants good French cuisinse.
