Our seasonal menu is inspired from the classic French cuisine in a rustic and cosy ambiance, from the wooden floor, brick walls and copper pans hanging on it !
We also offer a nice selection of wines from France and other parts of the old and new world, and a quirky selection of spirits and digestives.
We have a bar area for pre dinner drinks or just to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine !
A bientot !
Went for Sunday lunch yesterday. Beautiful roast beef and lamb, lovely friendly service and reasonable prices.
Very good food, excellent service, reasonable prices. What’s not to like?!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Le Marmiton. Unfortunately I could only gave a main due to dietary restrictions, but I had the lamb and it was delicious. Incredibly tender and tasty.
The wine was good and well priced with an unusually large number of carafe options.
Service was wonderful. A good balance between attentive and relaxed. There was no rushing us at all.
We’ll be back!
Le Marmiton has really settled into its place on Wanstead High Street. The food is consistently good, service excellent and the small drinks area is welcome addition. Cocktails are very well made.
I took a friend for a birthday lunch on the recommendation of another friend.
The service was friendly and informative and the food was great.
Fried egg on a pork chop! who knew and very yummy.
My next visit will be the chicken cesar salad which my friend had and we shared a gorgeous creamy creme brulee.
The midweek evening deals of two courses for around £13, I will be back for.
Great addition to Wanstead.
A relaxing restaurant with a fantastic service. We came here for the Sunday roast, very tasty but would like more vegetables and gravy. Would definitely be back.
Brunch- not an extensive menu which means the ingredients are fresh & newly cooked. Had French toast which was lovely - haven’t had it for many years , & it was better than I remember.
The staff are very accommodating & welcoming.
There weren’t many people in the restaurant - not good for business but great for the customer!!
Very nice meal. Service was good. Attentive but not too much. Recommended
Had a couple visits now and had yet again a lovely meal.
Went for Saturday brunch and the French toast, burger and eggs Benedict were all really good.
Service really friendly
Great food. Great service. Never disappoints.
Lovely restaurant with a great midweek set menu. Looking forward to trying weekends and the Sunday lunch.
A fantastic meal, each course delicious. Amazing mid week offer on Tues, Wed & Thursday nights. £12.95 for two courses and £14.95 for 3 courses. Lamb Rump and Confit Duck Leg were divine as was the Banoffee cheesecake. Thoroughly recommend
Lovely authentic “french”Sunday lunch with fantastic, attentive service. The waiters knew the menu well and made recommendations based on their favourites. Delicious cheese board, nice wines and loved the french background music.
A nice treat on a Sunday, a nice way to spend the afternoon.
Service is always good. Very attentive. Clear that we are customers and service and food geared to please. Excellently cooked food from a menu that changes regularly. A great local restaurant.
The front of house team provide a genuinely friendly, welcoming ambience and the food has been great on the three occasions I've visited. On this visit we were trying out the midweek menu (2 courses for £13, three for £15) and the dishes were excellent - a juicy medium-rare flank steak with frites, and I tried the mushroom & chestnut en croute which came with a delicious tarragon sauce. We also ordered a side of charred broccoli which had a lovely smoky flavour. The waitress helped us to choose wines to suit and we finished with a port and a French sweet wine for dessert. A very relaxing place to dine where you will be well looked after. We look forward to returning!
Lovely bistro atmosphere, delicious food, great service. We very much enjoyed our night out.
Our second time, food was good and the staff are exceptional. However we didn't really get the wow factor like the first time we dined there. I would recommend however as they have a really good children's menu which is reasonable and the food choice is excellent, maybe we choose incorrectly this time. we would come again.
Been coming here since it opened and have never been disappointed by the quality of the food and service.
We enjoyed the set menu on a Thursday night. Deep fried Brie, followed by steak frites and the banoffee cheese cake. All were really delicious and at £14.95 pp offered outstanding value. We will be back.
We had Sunday lunch, but have also been in the evening. The food is simple and very good, and the service is lovely.
It has the feel of a cosy bistro.
I came to Le Marmiton with my boyfriend for their weekday set menu. There was a good selection and it was brilliant value for money. The food was great and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back again very soon.
A friendly, efficient and authentic restaurant. Excellent food delivered by a great team.
We have dined here a few times and it can be quiet sometimes - don’t let that put you off as it is well worth a visit.
It is not the cheapest restaurant in the area but it consistently provides a lovely dining experience.
Having read previous reviews we went with an open mind as to what to expect. Food was very nice, my steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Service was very slow though. Not the place to go for a quick meal. Staff were very friendly too.
Very nice meal, good quality food and very efficient, friendly service. Particularly accommodating in that they let us have their previous special offer which I had enquired about over the phone even though they are now promoting a different offer of a set menu, in addition to the a la carte. Delicious sauce with my steak. Excellent that they accept the Opentable dining cheques - one of the very few restaurants that I know of that do accept them. Will definitely recommend to others and will plan to return.
Ordered prawns for starter and they arrived undercooked! The main course was steak Diane & fries which was ok, but the fries were barely cooked (white in colour) and the dish lacked any imagination. For the price I was expecting much better and left disappointed.
Great place, friendly staff, delicious french toast!
We went for Saturday brunch and really enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere, lovely staff and great food. We would like to go another time to try the main menu.
very disappointed with choice of food - salmon on croute -pastry soggy at the bottom and inedible
Really tasty brunch today on our second visit to this new bistro in the area.
Eggs benedict and the eggs royal were both really good.
Service friendly and nice choice of beers and cocktails.
Tasteless food. Poor presentation. Awkward waiters. Very disappointing. Not worth a visit.
Very friendly helpful staff. Nice menu but on a Tuesday night it would be great to have had the option of a fixed price daily set menu also. There were only 2 or 3 other tables dining so it might be worth a try. We had a lovely evening, very nice wine list, but the end bill was a bit higher than we would usually pay on a Tuesday night in Wanstead.
Everything was adequate/pleasant but not notable or memorable
Easy to book, spacious, friendly attentive staff, good choice of excellent good in pleasant surroundings.
A great addition to Wanstead, rustic French bistro ... good quality food and reasonably priced. Recommend.
Always happy to support local restaurants as long as they offer good food and service. Marmiton does. I also liked that one of the starters was smoked salmon sourced from the fishmongers 6 doors away. Good and friendly service and good vfm. This is our second time at this restaurant and I have no doubt we will become regulars. It’s not haute cuisine, but well presented food, reasonably priced. I also noted that the menu had changed significantly since our last visit.
Sunday lunch was excellent. Meat was outstanding but could have had more vegetables.
Sunday Lunch with my 11 year old son.
Fantastic choice of 3 roasts or a combination of all. Delicious!
Service was attentive and the ambience reminded us of our trip to France.
Great value for miney
A very disappointing experience. No atmosphere, poor decor, paper napkins (!) steak ok but no proper French fries.
The food was perfection. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The only down side was that it wasn’t very busy eating at 7pm so lacked a little soul. Once we left, it was filling up with diners which made it feel a little warmer. Cannot fault the food and I’m sure once people know how good it is, it will be hard to book a table!! A real hidden gem.
It was quiet for a Friday night so we were in and out a bit too quickly but every course was delicious. Not the most extensive menu but if the quality is like this, who cares!
