I came here for lunch with a friend. It was a nice little spot in Morningside Heights. Portions were large, but the food was so-so, especially so-so considering the high price. I got the shakshuka, which had much more oil than the dish is intended to have, and the bread that came in the dish was over-baked (it was more like a giant crouton than a slice of toast). The taste was pleasantly rich, though, and the cheese was appropriately creamy and delicious. Our waiter was nice but the service was odd (she came to our table twice in less than 5 minutes, both times to ask us what we wanted to order. It made it seem like we were being rushed to leave, even though the restaurant had more empty tables than filled tables. I think perhaps she was aiming to be attentive but overshot the mark). If the prices were lower, if the outdoor covered seating had a fan that was turned on, and if there were fewer flies buzzing around, I would return.
Getting together with 2 good friends and catching up. Drinks and food perfectly prepared. Not many people eating indoors so blessedly quiet inside.
Always a good meal with a pleasant ambience. Never disappoints. Nice to be out in the city again outdoor dining but not bothered by car fumes.
good food, good service, desserts are delicious a must have.
The server was pleasant but not well trained. She missed steps of service and didn’t seem like she was sure of what to do. That’s on management. The food was definitely below par for French food in Manhattan. The tuna and octopus did not taste fresh and the steak tartare was not properly seasoned. We did not order entrees after three disappointing apps.
Service was nearly nonexistent. Both of us had Vietnamese salad - agreed it was soggy & overdressed. I had chicken in it - tough due to overcooking. Reasonably priced.
Always a pleasure to be there. And the creme brulee was excellent as always. (I had a burger which was somehow not as good as I remembered but the others enjoyed their entrees)
Generally a reliable French Bistro with a solid menu this former favorite must have checked out for the summer season. I can only hope it will get it’s groove back in the fall.
Like eating in France! Le Monde never disappoints. We came all the way from Brooklyn just to eat here!
Food was delicious; service was prompt, attentive and friendly; decor is charming. Can be noisy when crowded, but there were few other guests on this visit. A neighborhood mainstay; we'll definitely go back.
Food and ambiance were good. Service was a bit lackadaisical. Overall we enjoyed our experience
everything was very good. Happy that this great neighborhood restaurant has survived the pandemic!!!!
Really nice French atmosphere and the food is not overly fancy but delicious and well priced.
A nice place! Good food! Good service! moderately priced!
We had reserved indoors and they said our reservation was outdoors (this was rectified). Then it took ages for someone to take our order and to receive our food. That said, we ate well and the staff was nice, just everything was much slower than in past experiences (we've been coming here for years). Perhaps they were understaffed due to Covid. We'll return and I'd still recommend Le Monde. We were just was a bit disappointed in the very slow service.
Le Monde is a neighborhood gem. The food is well prepared. Servers are efficient and follow safety protocols.
Superb. It’s never a disappointment when I’m here. That’s why it’s my favorite French spot uptown.
My friend and I had mussels and fries and I had a glass of wine. The mussels were good, the fries were cold, and a lot smaller portion than before. Why not serve a couple of slices of garlic toast with the mussels to dip into the sauce-- that is best part. And now that you don't serve bread, it would be especially good.
We asked for a split check, and they brought one check for both of us. The server fixed it when it was pointed out.
The band was very good, although the table suggested (I had a reservation) was right next to it-- how would we have been able to talk? We chose one under the canopy and that was ok with the host/server.
It really wouldn't be that hard to fix these little points.
Made a reservation for 6 online and revised to 8 by telephone. Follow-up by telephone about my seating requirement was handled very well. We were out in a private room off of the main dining room which suited our party well given its size.
We have been coming to Le Monde for 20 plus years so it’s great to see it having made It through pandemic. Yesterday was pretty light with the rainy weekend but we were there too a few weeks ago, ate outside and it was packed. That day, the kitchen was very slow which was OK because the server told us in advance.
Nice Ambience but food was mediocre. Overcooked asparagus and mushy risotto.
Good food. Very slow service.
Although we often go to LeMonde- definitely a neighborhood favorite- this was the first time we brought these friends there AND ate indoors since the shutdown. The staff is definitely stressed with both indoor and outdoor dining but they did their best. The food was great and love the affordable wine list!
Loved everything.. wine, foi gras, french music, kind and helpful team.
What ever happened to Le Monde?? We waited nearly one hour for our appetizers to arrive. The FOIE GRAS AU TORCHON was served in two (2) tiny medallions about the size of a 50¢ coin and a very stale piece of bread for $23.00!! The goat cheese salad was served with exactly ½ fig and and none of the advertised tapenade, alongside very wilted, more than day-old greens. The food never got better. The waiter, who appeared once, after a much-too-long wait to take our order and once to present the check was terse, bordering on impolite in his manner. He never checked back during our entire stay.
Reliably good food. The menu is abbreviated right now due to the pandemic but still a good variety.
Sitting outside in a well designed shelter. Food is good and reasonably priced. Service is efficient without being intrusive. Overall a good place to eat. Love their lunch trays❗️
We love this place! We went for Mother's Day, four generations, everyone was happy. It's affordable and delicious (don't miss the Moules Frites) and the service is wonderful and patient. It was pouring rain and we sat outside and had a really memorable time. Highly recommended! We went previously the week before and it was great then too. We'll be back ASAP!
So much fun sitting at the bar again after almost 14 months.
Service was very slow and inattentive. Past experienced have been great.
The steak was done to perfection. The duck was fabulous as were the appetizers and desserts. The chef clearly likes olives and stemmed to appear in a number of dishes. Overall a lovely experience and while the quantity of olive flavor in multiple dishes was a little much you could eat around them and vary your intake as desired.
Great place. Been there at least a hundred times over the years and never disappoints.
Best lamb chops i’ve tasted! Chef cooks them to perfection. Tarte Tatin is a must try for dessert! Service is great too. Outdoor and indoor dining options:)
The food was delicious and ambience was lovely. So glad to see the city opening up again. The managers waiters and bartender were working incredibly hard and very attentive. It wAs a little bumpy but the professional staff pulled it off with great style and a sense of humor.
glad our neighborhood restaurant has remained in business during the pandemic. this was our first venture out since it all started & it was very enjoyable. Food is consistently good.
The restaurant is quite crowded and Le Monde needs more waiters. The waits for menus, food, and attention are quite long. More waiters would make the service better. The waiters work very hard, it is not their fault. It is management's fault for not having more helpers.
Very very ordinary.
We were celebrating a special occasion, this isn’t the place to do it!
Lovely place with delicious food. Proper protocols followed!
A delicious French bistro with easy going, friendly service so that you can chill out and savor your meal. The Moule Frites was excellent as were the pan seared sea scallops. No room for dessert but they all looked great. Enjoy!
I went to Le Monde years ago. We decided to give it an other try and what a brilliant idea it was. The food was great and the service very professional. The tuna tartare was particularly very good. And they have crepes Suzette one of my favorite dessert.
