Le Relais de Venise - Soho (London)
A small selection of hand-picked wines accompany the meal and there is a selection of cheeses and a dessert list with profiteroles, meringue and other ice cream confections, all freshly made on the premises.
The food and drinks were lovely - the waitress could have smiled some more!
The good is good but not outstanding. If you've been there once, you will probably not go there again for some time. Prices are too high.
Steak and frites: exactly what it says on the tin.
Great unhurried service.
The food we had was relatively nice but the portions not huge. Waitresses were okay, decor a little tired. Not awful but certainly not great either!
Good steak frites, good wine. Can't ask for more!
Everything was exceptionally good - the salad, the steak and even the chips.
Excellent host, great set menu, good value for money
Just great, you walk in, sit down and then you're told what to eat! No messing, simple well cooked and delicious but not what you might call haute cuisine. Great wine.
I’ve been there once before and it was ok. This time was shocking, very small steak and very dry fries and very stingy with bread and souce. The service was beyond awful! I’ll go back again perhaps it will be my “3 time lucky”
The steak, sauce and fries were delicious but the value for money was awful. The amount of steak we got was tiny. You get the same amount and quality of steak from a Flat Iron for ~£10. The tables were jammed in close so it felt like we were sharing with strangers, which again is a shame for the price we paid. Our meal, which was salad and a main, and a bottle of wine and NO desserts cost £80 for two!
Food was great and good value, although ‘service with a smile’ doesn’t exist here; found the waitress to be quite blunt.
very good service and an abundance of food! lots of options for dessert at reasonable prices also
A pleasant, simple way to have a meal before or after a theatre trip. Food is served hot and freshly cooked.
The format works but there is no choice, except for desserts. Not a choice for vegetarians.
I was excited to come following many visits in Paris and New York. The food wasn’t hot and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Left after one serving.
A must-try for every foodie/steak-lover in London. Their famous Café de Paris sauce is divine and the steak is perfection. Surprise second serving of steak-frites is welcome by all (you're more than full by the end). Atmosphere and vintage French-style interiors make this a winner for groups and special occasions (suggest Soho - you can book in advance), and date nights, (Marylebone feels much more romantic in the evening). The unique menu experience makes life that much easier and you know you're in good hands - trust the process (and don't ask for Mayo). DREAM!
Family enjoyed the steak and the creme brûlée’s yum!
Absolutely amazing food with a brilliant steak sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
Good food but bad service.
Lunch was not too busy. There were plenty of tables, but the waitress gave us our bill and rushed us out of the restaurant. I would understand if they were extremely busy, but there were plenty of empty tables.
We requested for tomato sauce and mustard, but was only given mustard. The server definitely ruined our experience. Unlikely to go back again.
Fab location and service, food amazing as always, couldn’t get fed up with steak and frites.
Food was fantastic as always
Great food. Very rude waitress. Should not be working in hospitality.
Portion size seems to have reduced and the service is very rushed nowadays.
Warm welcome on arrival and seated promptly. Waitress asked if we had been before.... explained menu and took our drinks order and how we liked our steak cooked... food delivery was prompt and served hot... the remained of our meal was kept warm for our 2nd serving. Decided to share a cheese selection after our meal good selection of cheeses.
Lovely ambiance and decor... lovely experience would go back again.
The food never disappoints me, although the portions sizes can be different upon first servings as i have been here 3 times to the same venue. it would be nice to have consistency, they are generous with fries, but i feel maybe when they are busy they watch the portioning of the steak.
Service is not great, but it's not bad either. I do feel like it shows that some waitresses has a bad day, you can just see it in their face that they do not want to be serving which gives a very off-putting impression.
Simple but done so well. Highly recommend for the best steak frites around.
Always my favorite. Make sure you book a table to avoid the line.
Waitress was awful and rude and then we had to pay a service charge despite her bad service
If you go knowing what to expect you’ll never be disappointed. I love the steak, the sauce, the salad dressing. Usually go to the Marylebone one but Dean St is also charming and sweet, even if it lacks that charming lived-in feel. Service was scrappy and we had to ask for a couple of things several times, but it was a lovely lunch.
The meat is amazing!!!
Strangest restaurant I have ever been in, disgusting sauce, very strange idea of customer service.
It was late in the evening when we got there, so the place was pretty empty which made us feel slightly awkward. London is definitely an earlier city then NYC which is more of what we are used to.
very well prepared steak/frites and good service. house red is well prices and goes great with the food
Good food as always and good service
Great environment. No fuss. Easy to book and caring staff
Utterly authentic French bistro that serves one thing and serves its really really well. Delicious!
I have been here many times and it has always been my favorite steak restaurant. My partner and I went here for our first date so we thought we’d come for our anniversary. Whilst the food was good we were left very disappointed. The waitress rushed us. She didn’t let us finish our first plate and just disrupted us and put food on our plate without asking if we even wanted seconds. We just felt constantly rushed and could not enjoy our food.
Also whilst we specified that it was our anniversary in the booking, nothing special was done.
Excellent service/food/atmosphere as always. Can always rely on le relais to deliver. Thank you
Great to be able to book in advance (unlike the Marylebone one). Great staff and excellent food (assuming you’re after a French classic steak and frites!). Wine v good too.
I booked a table for three at 2pm, knowing that this is the latest you can book for lunch. We didn’t even have dessert, but coffee during which it was obvious the waitresses wanted us to hurry up and leave. I wouldn’t mind, but they were extremely rude and it was embarrassing to me as the host. They stood over us and kept tutting before finally asking us to leave. I wouldn’t have minded if we had had three courses coffee desserts and liqueurs but we didn’t, it was barely before three pm.
Thanks but I won’t be back, nor will I be returning to the ones in the City after this experience. A truly unpleasant and uncomfortable experience. aVoid at tall costs unless you want to be hurried along by very rude waitresses...
