Le Salon Privè
As well as a gorgeous Private Dining Room on the first floor, Le Salon Privè is a little piece of France in St.Margarets
Had another wonderful meal - just peeved that we were charged nearly £3 for a small basket of additional bread when we had spent £160 plus on wine and dinner for two.
Very pricey for very small portions, some dishes poorly executed, mainly over cooked
What a charming restaurant to have fairly locally to us. Reasonably priced wine list, friendly helpful staff. Interesting menu well presented and certainly no chance of leaving hungry. Delicious light pastry for the dessert tart. Not much of a general din as can sometimes prove challenging, so we could chat and my mother's hearing aids coped fine. Will definitely return at some point. Thank you.
Lovely restaurant , superb atmosphere and top notch food and a great wine selection, we enjoyed the whole evening service was attentive but not oppressive, At the end of the evening the Chef/Patron came out in his Whites to checkup on our evening's experience - very nice touch. - we will be back - highly recommended.
Really enjoyed the venue and service. However they seemed a little unsure with a few things - the mojito we had was with mint liqueur instead of fresh mint and they were not aware that the lobster had to be pre-ordered a day before until they checked with the chef (seemed a little strange as other restaurants do not have a problem) We ordered a bottle of wine and then on their recommendation changed it to something that was double the price (I think they could have mentioned this as we were discussing).
Having said all this the food, wine and ambience was great and I would go again!
Fantastic food and varied menu. Attentive service. Looking forward to coming back.
First time visit, attracted by Richmond card offer of 20% discount which brought it into our price range. Very nice ambience, excellent service. Bread and linen napkins greatly appreciated. House white pleasant and thankfully just 10% alcohol, which means one can drive and have a glass. Food was authentic and delicious. Will keep an eye out for further Richmond card offers, and indeed will hope to fit another visit in before the curent one ends. Three very satisfied and appreciative customers !
Le Salon Prive is a fantastic hidden gem in St Margarets, just outside the busy streets of Richmond. The food is fantastic and the restaurant decor and set up will remind you of a small family run french restaurant in a village in France. Great service and kind staff who will help you with any special dietary requirements.
Loved it! Felt like we’re back in France
17 years this had been on the "to try" list, It did not desapoint, not far from St Margareth and Twickenham station, the building is gorgeous. The dinning on the ground floor is great (though I ll not recomment the tables which are in the centre). The food was true french and delicious, the wine list very reasonable, It won't take me another 17 years to go back!
We went on a busy Friday night therefore it was crowded and a bit noisy. The food was very good and I would recommend the pigeon. Service was excellent, attentive but not over the top.
It was excellent. Food was really good as was the service
Lovely restaurant that dishes up really well cooked food at reasonable prices. We were there for the Sunday lunch which is basically £20 for two courses or £25 for three. There is a £2 supplement for the beef on the bone but my word it is worth it. Good selection of wine from reasonable to not and the service was very good.
Beautiful decoration and nice ambience service from ordering to receiving starters was very slow despite there only being 3 other tables at the time. Brunette waiter looked like someone forced her to be there the blonde was was excellent. Food was good but not great more seasoning needed. Would go back for an everyday meal but not a special occasion.
Steak was amazing, and steak night on a Tuesday is great value.
Great food - real shame about the service. We arrived and were seated - took 10 minutes from them to give the menu......no drinks order taken ...........then finally afters a further 10 minutes I managed to get the attention of a waitress to order. Everyone else seemed to be being served and and attended to almost as if we were invisible. Our starters eventually arrived but still no wine I had to ask for it............very poor. The only saving grace was the food.
It was also very disappointing as I had clearly stated on my booking that 3 out of the 5 of us were actually celebrating a birthday. I have always loved Le Salon Prive and previously the Brula but I really will be very hesitant in coming back or recommending it to anyone as I was extremely upset by the way we were treated.
We went for Sunday Lunch. The roast beef was excellent, the vegetables a little bit undercooked for our taste but overall a very enjoyable meal.
Lovely cosy restaurant with delicious food and great atmosphere. Clearly very popular.
I have eaten here before and had a good experience, therefore I booked it again. This time the service was so slow, it was 30 mins before we ordered, and the wait between the starter and the main course was 45 mins. I arrived at 8pm and left at 10.40pm for two courses. I served myself the wine as the staff missed their opportunity. The starter was good, wish i had ordered it twice. The main courses were really ordinary, I would have been better off with a supermarket dinner for two. Butternut with lamb was tasteless and the quantity of lamb would have not made two lamb chops. About the same size as my starter. The side order of mixed vegetables were so poor and seriously undercooked that the restaurant removed it from the bill. There was not the option of removing service charges from the bill.
All in all very poor
Had a great Valentines lunch, service is great and food is excellent.
Birthday dinner, food was fantastic as was the wine. Attentive staff but not overly so. Was a little cold in the restaurant but soon warmed up. Aperitif was raspberry and Prosecco which was delicious, steak was succulent and the wood pigeon realty flavoursome. I’d recommend it. Bijou and friendly
Staff were very attentive and accommodating. Menu du jour was superb value for good quality and delicious food.
To begin positively the flavour of the food was great had a beatififul cod dish wit haricot beans and mussels but was really disappointed with the service. I arrived a bit late for the reservation and although my wife already had a drink I was not asked if I wanted one. Also once wine was ordered it was forgotten about until after the mains arrived. Ambience wise the lights are left too bright for the small romantic setting it appears to be aiming for. I had high hopes following reviews on here but not sure I will return. Can reiterate that top marks to chef though as the food was lovely.
Fantastic dinner all courses cooked and presented to perfection. Fourth time here and never had a bad experience. Waiting staff attentive. Highly recommend
Incredible independent restaurants are few and far between. Its tempting to keep this one all to myself. Excellent, authentic, high class classical French cuisine, great ingredients, great presentation, great service, without pretension, cosy, warm, friendly relaxed and inviting. A hidden gem in St Margaret's. Sadly if I don't share this find with others out there we risk losing it. With reluctance I must state clearly, that this place is BRILLIANT! Stop reading - make a booking - you wont regret it.
A very surly initial waitress who was condescending and ignorant. Didn’t offer the wine to be tasted and just poured straight into the glass. Thankfully a lovely girl took over and we had a very enjoyable rest of the evening. Food was good and was the wine. Maybe a little music would improved the atmosphere.
3 courses for £20 on the menu du jour is an absolute steal at a restaurant with the chef proprieter having such pedigree and a well informed and personable floor staff. Every mouthful a joy and I can't wait to finish dry January and give the wine list and full a la carte a good seeing to. Wonderful find.
One of my favourite restaurants ever, anywhere. The service is always fantastic. Friendly and helpful. The food is great. It is a lovely restaurant. Go there.
We decided to treat ourselves to lunch out after a busy couple of days over Christmas and hadn't been to Le Salon Prive for some time, so chose it for a change. We had a lovely lunch with delicious food and charming service. Will certainly go back another time.
We have visited this restaurant many times but not on Christmas Eve before.
The food, service and ambience is excellent. It is the ideal place for an intimate evening.
I would like to thank the staff for making this a very special Christmas Eve.
We will be back for Sunday lunch (which is also excellent) soon.
Excellent for lunch on Xmas Eve. I was hoping for my one and only turkey meal..and even though it was not on the menu the chef accommodated us.
We will definitely go again...
Outstanding doesn't even come close.
Delicious fresh food with fantastic service. I cannot recommend Me Salon Privé highly enough.
Good food with extremely impressive service which was courteous, attentive, and efficient.
We had a meal here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was delicious and sensible sized portions, not too large. The service was very good - thoughtful and not intrusive. We had a lovely evening and would recommend to anyone.
My guests were very well surprised as well for the quality of food as for the venue.
We had an amazing evening !
The chef is excellent.
A fine French restaurant. The rabbit a foix grad terrine was particularly delicious.
Starters and main course were excellent but the sweets were disappointing
Great food, v slow service
We had a really fun birthday celebration with great food.
Food was good and well cooked. Service was polite and attentive. Small things like leaving a bottle of Dettol cleaner on the table next to us and the smell of bleach as cleaning up started before the restaurant was empty was disappointing. Expensive for the area.
