Great old fashion french cooking.
An amazing place with a friendly staff, I highly recommend it
Delicious french food, good variety. Produce was excellent.
Great atmosphere! Authentic French place! Would go back!
Amazing food and service! I will definitely go back!
The food was good and the service was perfect .
Attentive staff , friendly and polite
The food was served promptly .
Wonderful wine selection
One of our favourite restaurants !
The staff was amazing and the ambience too. We also appreciated the table arrangement definitively inline with the government/ safety recommendations.
Amazing Job, you will see us again soon! Yummy!
Lovely, cosy french restaurant; feels like you have been transported to france!
Great wine selection. Excellent French menu and friendly service.
We went there for the fondue, it wasn't a big portion (I'm use to the one in France, difficult to compare) but very good quality, we loved it! It's a bit pricy but the service is very good and the place very nice. The only less good notes : the room wasn't warm enough and the dessert, a crep, was not really tasty. We will definitely come back!
Excellent value on wines and the fondue and raclette are to die for. I've been to this restaurant 4 times in the past month and can't get enough!
Bad service food not great
Great food, good wine, lovely space. Will be back.
Fancied a decent, civilised meal out. Exactly what we got.
Really good traditional style French food. Used to the slick buzz and hype of London restaurants, the rustic surroundings and homely presentation of the dishes lowered our expectations. However the food was really delicious and comforting. Would recommend the boeuf bourguignon and had a surprisingly tasty salad.
Service was fine but a bit slow at times. There is a linked wine shop upstairs and they closed it up early that day. When we tried to buy some wine, they made it seem like they were doing us a huge favour to sell it to us (although they were supposed to be open) as they had already turned off the lights in the shop early that day. Can’t really understand this attitude in light of the current difficulties in the restaurant industry in the COVID era, and a relatively empty restaurant.
Looking for a French experience, this is the place you are looking for.
I recommend the Raclette which was very nice, very qualitative charcuteries and cheese.
Love it as always!! Amazing service, food, wine & atmosphere!!
Exceptional service and superb homemade foods that resemble the french cuisine unlike no other
True french cuisine
The place is lovely but pricey compared to the food quality and quantity.
- Charcuterie Board - 18£ - 4/10
- Poor - I have lived in Paris and I am Italian and the quality and salami choice very poor
- Few slices of Salami - dry and not very intense taste
- Ham - British ham, you will never find a cooked ham in France
- Escargot - 12£ - 6/10
- Pass - Nice with onion filling even I prefer just with butter and oil, score 7 because they were not freshly cooked and warmed up on the oven. You can see easily knowing well escargot they get quite chewy and harder if re-heated
- Fondue - 34£ - 6/10
- Pass - Very small quantity the pan arrived with only the bottom filled. I have never seen such a stingy portion in France for the entire of my life. Flavor was ok, nothing exceptional, they use decent french cheep cheese definitely not the best i have tried .
- Pate de fuagra - 18$ - 5/10
- Not enough - portion very small, fuagra hard and you can see it was quite date probably made since a week or more. Smooth without chunky that could be ok but definitely not hand made but imported pre-made.
Overall environment I do like the place, very cozy and nice and good service.
You can see the company is trying to cut costs, and struggle to keep the right level of quality vs price
Will I go back - NO, there are many options in London and I will probably do as I normally do, i take the TGV to paris and spend the weekend there..
Mmmmm so the raclette was good and presentation was cool. Steak tartare was not good. Too chewy. The place was too overpriced.
Very friendly staff in this hidden gem in Marylebone. One of my favourites in London!
Disappointing, I was hoping for authentic french cuisine to make me forget about covid for an hour or two but a flobby duck confit and a very dry crepe with a dribble of chocolate sauce in a very quiet unatmospheric part of the restaurant was a disappointing way to spend our first meal out for months. Sorry but we won't be going back unfortunately.
this was exactly what I had hoped... relaxed, authentic, very tasty food, reasonably priced wine and friendly, professional service that made the visit great fun for our family
Love this place. Great food & service with a good French wine list. Always get really well looked after. Thank you!
My friends and I went for “All you can eat” raclette. The staff was very professional and friendly but mostly the food was amazing. I definitely recommend it.
French fellow if you need a taste from home, you won’t regret your visit at Le vieux comptoir.
My favourite French restaurant in London. Great atmosphere and delicious food
Can’t stop going here! It’s soooo good! Food, wine and amazing service!! Love it!!
Really great to get back to Le Vieux Comptoir.
The staff are skilled and attentive, and the food is always very good - and naturally the wine list is excellent!
Their covid precautions are handled very well with hand sanitisers, temperature check, face coverings for staff and well spaced tables. It felt very comfortable.
My favourite French restaurant in London...which means a lot considering I am French. Fantastic, warm service. Gorgeous authentic food. And great, great wines. They never go wrong.
We dined here on Saturday and it was so good I had to write a review! The wine was outstanding along with the service and food.
Service was very good - helpful and patient! The food was good - simple but good quality and well cooked.
Excellent food, fine service, great location
The waiters were very knowledgable, authentically french and had excellent recommendations. Would highly recommend for an immersion into a Parisian restaurant
Poor wine list for a wine bar. Wines by the glass aren’t listed with producer’s name. That’s a joke if you are a serious wine bar.
Dear JacobB, Many thanks for your comment and your expertise. Surprising and disappointing to qualify our wines list as poor, especially with a selection of 27 wines by the glass (with Grape, Vintage and Appellation), and 63 wines by the bottle (with Grape, Winemaker, Vintage and Appellation). Hopefully, we shall have the pleasure to give you all details for your next visit, and also to explain our corkage policy with access to an additional portfolio of 300 French wines.
Pleasant, relaxed dinner with friends. The food is always delicious and the wait staff are attentive without being intrusive. Staff are all wearing masks, hand sanitiser is readily available and tables are socially distanced. A great place for a relaxing weekend dinner.
If you want an authentic taste of France, and delicious reasonably priced wine, then come here.
I would recommend the Raclette, while it is expensive, it is all you can eat.
Was delighted to be back to a favorite restaurant and enjoy the lovely food in a thoughtful and safe environment.
