Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

As always, our meal was delicious. I had salmon andmy husband had scallops. Everything was cooked perfectly. Our server was attentive and very personable. Always a great way to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries or just dinner with friends.

Le Yaca is truly a gem here in Williamsburg. We dine there regularly, and every visit reminds us why it’s one of our favorite places. The consistency of the food is unmatched — every meal is exceptional, beautifully prepared, and reliably delicious. Minh, our waiter, is always outstanding. This is the overall best restaurant in Williamsburg. The food is definitely very good I have never had a bad or even just OK dish there. Everything is excellent. The servers are top notch and attentive . Most of the servers have been there since we started going there over 6 years ago and they are professionals! We usually ask for Ming when we bring guests because he has a special aptitude to make our guests feel at home and that they are special. I know a lot of diners feel the same way about Ming, and always ask for him too. We sometimes eat at the bar and Dewa the bartender, also knows your favorite drink and remembers preferences and always has a a happy attitude, so much so that more chairs had to be added to his bar. We highly recommend La Yaca and hope we can still get a reservation there when needed!
