Wonderful! Fantastic ambience, well-spaced tables that give a lot of privacy (for central London). Service this time was a touch disorganised but everyone was lovely and doing their best. Delicious food as always - we love coming here for an occasional treat and look forward to our next visit!
Nowhere in soho beats this experience. Took family there last night and food and service excellent. Everyone luvd it. New waiter Puga really looked after us. Well done.
Food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful. Made even bettter by special offer on main course via open table. Would highly recommend restaurant.
Excellent restaurant. Staff were incredible and attentive and made the experience. The food was excellent. A small menu but I could have picked any of them!
Food was delicious and service very attentive. Snails were excellent
Disappointing food. 2 of party had duck confit which was overcooked, tough and dry. Dauphinoise potatoes were hard and undercooked. Replacement ones were hardly any better. Not a fine dining experience. Waiter very pleasant, although he did pour wine from second bottle we ordered into glasses which still had wine from first bottle in them.
My friend’s birthday landed in the middle of our trip to London, and we decided to visit L’escargot to celebrate. The cocktails menu offered some unique choices. Since it was her birthday, they brought us champagne to toast her day and a plate of mini treats with happy birthday written on the plate. We had the chocolate fondant for dessert, and it was delicious.
Excellent choice of food and drink, and a good pre theatre menu
What an absolutely delightful experience we have just had in this charming, warm and inviting restaurant! What happened to be stressful last minute arrangement due to let down of other venue ended up as unforgettable experience. Even though the restaurant was pretty busy the service was excellently attentive which with absolutely crazy good food, perfectly matched wine we were recommended made the experience absolutely magical.
an annual return visit to L’Escargot, and happily surprised. It seems everything has been revamped and improved. The food was improved, and excellent, it was quiet, despite most tables being used, the decor was great - as usual, but the main change was the staff - they’re all terrific, James and all the staff on the ground floor rooms were personable, fast when needed, and subtly attentive, thank you, the visits will be more frequent in 2020, still my favourite Soho restaurant
Very expensive wine and the bill adds up very quickly
This was for my special 60th birthday, and this was such a very memorable occasion, because everything was perfect here. The portions are big ! and the service is great. I would really recommend this place for a romantic meal or any occasion. We would be back at sometime in the future, although we live quite a distance away. Thank you for making this a lovely evening. And thank you for the chocolates and candle at the end.
The service was not at a level I expected of this restaurant which slightly spoilt the occasion. and for that reason I could not recommend the restaurant. Pity as the food was very good.
Superb classic French cooking all of it well judged and perfectly executed. Excellent value for money and an elegant, old fashioned and opulent setting.
An excellent evening meal at the very favourable prix fixe rate. Wine choice was good and quality as good as we had expected.
The service and food was very good but we were perhaps fortunate to be early evening when it was quiet.
We really enjoyed it and have bikes a return trip.
I'm sure that it's not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but it is very good. Service was impeccable. Food - both choice (even on the pre-theatre/set menu) and quality was very good. The confit of duck deserves a special mention - a very (surprisingly) large duck-leg with very nice savoy cabbage and other vegetables. The additional sides we had - truffle mash and dauphinoise - were very nice, but for us, a bit too much food! We chose a sub-£40 wine Cheval Quancard from Bordeaux which accompanied the food very well.
L'Escargot is a splendid restaurant for a quiet lunch or a brilliant dinner. I especially like the old-fashioned decor and comfortable ambience.
Such a lovely atmosphere and kind staff.
We sat next to the fireplace which was a rather warm experience, but my God was it cozy !
Lovely old feel to the place, the Champagne and wine was divine and with the round table we were sat at, it was easy to communicate with the whole table and keep the talks internal rather than shouting from one end to of the table to the other and disturbing the rest of the restaurant.
Would definitely recommend this London pearl to everybody who fancies a proper meal and a lovely night out :)
Me and my partner were there for the “escargots”.But walking inside we found very welcome atmosphere and the stuff very kind and friendly. While our table got ready we had 2 cocktails (strange that I ‘m not a lover of cocktails) and we was surprised the guy very good to recommend us and very professional to do it.So guys can I recommend “Cucumbertini” fresh and soft cocktail. The food was amazing so we can give 5 stars for the chef.Definitely we gonna be back soon.
Great choice and beautiful setting for a birthday treat
Ambiance and food really excellent. Good service but the waiters need to smile - so very serious. Ladies toilet not flushing. Will definitely be back though.
Just an all round fabulous meal. The french onion soup, boeuf bourguignon were excellent.
Twice as good as a meal we had in (no name but well known 2 Michelin stars) and half the price.
Great food and attentive service. Dining room unfortunately looking a little shabby.
Courteous service, good food at good value. Great ambience
Amazing French food, we had different meals and all were amazing (in love with exceptionally cooked beef and duck and tatted tatin was fantastic ! Definitely will be back)
Very friendly staff)
Friendly staff, and fantastic, tasty food.
Much enjoyed the whole experience of a high class French restaurant. Food and service excellent, attentive and importantly for me, friendly.
Pre show meal
Excellent food, couldn't fault it. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable and the staff are very attentive and polite. Will definitely be back, this time with friends.
Great restaurant in busy London area. Great service, at the right standard follow by the food quality as well, nothing to say, every dish we had was spotless. Highly recommended.
Very nice experience from start to finish. The food was amazing and the service great! The interior was well decorated and did not fake the French touch with a bunch of clichés. Foie gras and steak tartare were absolutely amazing. I also recommend the truffle mashed.
Just perfect - love this place - dog friendly too!!
Our experience was amazing. Delicious food, superb service and great ambience. Will definitely be returning.
Brilliant. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambience. I will be back! (The beef fillet is great!)
Classic french dishes executed very well. If it’s good enough for Jay Rayner.....
An excellent early evening dinner after attending a matinee at the Dominion theatre. Food, wine and service was excellent.
Food service and overall experiance were first class will recomend to anyone.
Lovely french food and reasonably priced for what you get. Got the £22 starter and main deal. Ordered onion soup to start - was really good with lots of bread and nice and cheesy. The main was beef bourgignon which was delicious - great flavour. I even got a dessert of egg custard tart which was equally delicious. Only disappointed that they don't do their chicken escalope anymore, I used to love that. Would highly recommend.
