Modern European
A beautiful Jacobean manor house deep in the Devon countryside, Lewtrenchard Manor offers luxury dining in a sublime setting. Dating back to the 1600s, the Manor has an interesting and varied history, a fact that can be seen in every nook and cranny throughout the hotel and dining rooms. One of the finest restaurants in the county, the Lewtrenchard Manor restaurant is overseen by Chef Tom Browning. Here, Tom has enthusiastically created a menu that makes the most of the best Devonshire produce available while employing the methods and flavour combinations of chic modern European cuisine, earning the restaurant two AA Rosettes. Lively and relaxed, Lewtrenchard Manor is a superb place in which to indulge in the very best food and, indeed, delightful wines from the extensive cellar of old and new world labels.

The wonderful 16th century historic hotel is worth the trip in itself. The food and service were also excellent. Highly recommend.

Great food and enthusiastic chef. The dining experience (lunch) was not a great one. the reception area is not welcoming, very dark and damp feel to the place. We were seated in a dark dining room on our own in a room with zero atmosphere, no views over the lovely gardens. The only other family eating there were put in another room, also on their own. After our meal we discovered that there was a much brighter dining room overlooking the courtyard. Our experience may have been OK if we were offered a table there. In summary, there was absolutely no thought given to the customer experience. The restaurant has great potential but guests need to be made to feel welcome, and the dining experience improved.

Thank you for your review & our apologies that you felt you were in the darker dining room - our front dining room overlooks the grounds & is the lighter room in the daytime as the courtyard room is North facing, unfortunately the day you came was rather dismal & this may have made it feel darker than usual. Regarding the other guests, they requested private dining & we were happy to oblige. I hope you will give us another chance as we would love to welcome you back to Lewtrenchard.
