Lewtrenchard Manor
The wonderful 16th century historic hotel is worth the trip in itself. The food and service were also excellent. Highly recommend.
Unglaublich schönes Lokal, freundlicher Service, gute Weine und alles zu einem vernünftigen Preis.
Jederzeit wieder!
Thank you for your lovely review and we are delighted you enjoyed your dinner with us.
Great food and enthusiastic chef. The dining experience (lunch) was not a great one. the reception area is not welcoming, very dark and damp feel to the place. We were seated in a dark dining room on our own in a room with zero atmosphere, no views over the lovely gardens. The only other family eating there were put in another room, also on their own. After our meal we discovered that there was a much brighter dining room overlooking the courtyard. Our experience may have been OK if we were offered a table there. In summary, there was absolutely no thought given to the customer experience. The restaurant has great potential but guests need to be made to feel welcome, and the dining experience improved.
Thank you for your review & our apologies that you felt you were in the darker dining room - our front dining room overlooks the grounds & is the lighter room in the daytime as the courtyard room is North facing, unfortunately the day you came was rather dismal & this may have made it feel darker than usual. Regarding the other guests, they requested private dining & we were happy to oblige. I hope you will give us another chance as we would love to welcome you back to Lewtrenchard.
