with Fried Japanese Eggplant, Roasted Peppers, Umami Sauce
I have only been there for Brunch and it is always delicious. The owner is very pleasant and seems to make sure he talks to everyone in the restaurant.
Fun venue with terrific servers. Great pre-theatre or concert.
I've eaten here three times and never had bad service or bad food. The food, in fact, is incredible. This is our go-to restaurant after seeing the Philly Pops. It's a block from the Kimmel Center and a block from a PATCO station. But it would definitely be worth the trip even if it was a hike. Love the food, the wine selection, and the staff. We will keep coming back. I have recommended Libertine to two different people and they both loved it, too.
Excellent dinner. Fire roasted eggplant was outstanding. Small intimate venue with great service.
Enjoyed thoughtful and delicious cookies on the way out!
Innovative casual menu.
Fabulous brunch - best in Philadelphia
My first time eating at this restaurant. I am vegetarian and have a restricted diet as well. They were so accommodating, it made the meal l even better for me. The food was delicious, everything was fresh and as described on the menu. Other people I dined with thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. I got the autumn roasted vegetables, which was delicious, not oily at all. My main entree was the ravioli and that was fabulous! We also had dessert, I had the gelato-tasty and not too heavy. My friends had the S'mores, which they said was like a lava cake with marshmallow, plus the graham crackers brought it all together. Definitely will return.
The crab spaghetti is so good. We also had lamb meatballs and French onion soup. All so delish and the servers were very attentive. My husband had a beer that comes with a shot - he said it was really good.
I had a reservation for 2 and changed it to 3 when we got there. The hostess was very pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely return on our next visit to the area.
First time to this restaurant. Nice, small and cozy with very friendly and attentive staff. The food was delicious; all courses. This is a great place to go before any show on the Avenue of the Arts. Service was efficient and timely and then a short walk back to just about any venue.
Excellent good, wonderful service. We'll be back for sure.
Initial greeting by the seTver took at least 15 minutes. The pace of the meal was also slow. We arrived at 5:30, but found ourselves having to double-time it to the theater for a 7:30 curtain. Disappointing. But the food did not disappoint.
Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and friendly service. Enjoyed everything. Definitely will be returning to try the rest of the menu!
Everything was great. I highly recommend ordering the Charlie Sheen!!
Great experience all around, from being greeted and seated by Derek himself, to the fabulous friendly and personal service by Fred,we had a wonderful meal and felt special treatment all night long! We’ve been fans of Derek since his Manayunk days, and he continues to deliver delightful comfort food in a cozy setting where you’re made to feel like houseguests and not just customers. Will go again and again. Particularly for the secret chicken, the drinks, the roasted eggplant appy, and the real conversations with the man behind the meals.
Chef Derek was awesome! You could tell he really cares about his business and customer experience. The food was awesome, the drinks were awesome, and the service was awesome!
Very good food, especially the desserts are very trendy. Check out the chocolate s’mores. Macaroni and cheese very good. Tables close together.
The food here is always delicious!! I have recommended it to multiple people. Sometimes service can be slow- so maybe go when you're not in a rush to get somewhere after.
Ordered burgers medium rare. There were no appetizers ordered and we didn’t mind a pretty long wait for the burgers but mine was well done and I really did not enjoy it
Also the “salad” that came instead of fries was not interesting and had only lettuce and some foul tasting roasted ? Peppers so I did not eat it .
We usually love the food so very disappointed.
I have a reservation to return on February 28th and am having some second thoughts but will try it again
Also did drink glasses get smaller.? Very low volume to me
Amazing food and above and beyond service. Travis was incredible! This is my go-to spot for brunch!
After arriving on time for our 8:30 reservation, we were told our table was not ready yet and to please wait at the bar. We weren’t really put off by this, but weren’t thrilled when it took 10 minutes to get a drink. We were finally seated at 9:15ish and a few minutes later our waiter informed us that three main courses were not available; scallops, salmon and crab with pasta. This was very disappointing as this was the entree of choice for 3 of us. We ordered appetizers l, which were ok. Their Dover Sole special was actually very good. However the steak frites comes with quite a powerful sauce that is drenched over the steak. It’s one of those tastes that you either love or not. Unfortunately, my wife did not like it. Overall, we were disappointed and felt like we could have spent our roughly $300 elsewhere and had a better meal.
The food was fantastic. The "three plates for $35" per person is the way to go. Unfortunately, the service was not very good. Our reservation was for 7 and were seated at 7:30. Our first plate came at 8:45. It was dropped in front of us. The waiter behaved as though we were simply a bother for being there. The entire staff appeared to be running like chickens without heads. There was one runner and she never smiled. Actually, no one did. They were SO busy that they couldn't manage the courtesy and cordiality that every diner should expect. As I said, the food was outstanding.
The food was very good and the service was outstanding!!!
We were in a bit of a rush because we had to get to a concert and they did everything they could to keep us moving. They held our left over food and flowers that I had bought for my girlfriend at the restaurant until the concert was over.
The chicken dish I had was quite good and very well-prepared. The onion soup could have used a little more flavoring.
Overall a very good experience. I would definitely go back.
Really awesome restaurant for a nice date or special occasion. The food and service is excellent!!! Definitely would recommend. I got the lobster burger and it was incredible!!
The food, cocktails and service we're fantastic! It was our first time dining there and the wait staff was helpful without being overbearing. We had several plates, but the eggplant appetizer, the Thai chicken buns and the secret chicken stole the show! We can't wait to return.
My group had a really good time! The food was great, the staff was attentive, and the toast bar was a fun perk.
We loved this little cafe for brunch before the theater on a Saturday matinee. The wait staff and hostess were lovely and professional. Enjoyed a spicy bloody mary. They have a bread bar where you serve yourself homemade breads and sweet breads. I would highly recommend Libertine and we will definitely be coming back when we are going to the theater.
Chef is super nice and food is superb. Service could be more attentive.
Great restaurant. When we first arrived they told us our table wasn’t ready but there were 6-7 tables not occupied. They asked us to go to the bar. That was the only negative. Food was excellent service was excellent would go back without question.
The fact that we live across the street does not take away from giving this place a great review. We enjoy the brunch as well as the dinner menu. Service is great as well.
Delicious brunch and amazing Special lobster omelet. Chef accommodated all the requests from our big group - including kids!
We were celebrating my Dads Birthday. We had a good time and the food was delicious.
Knowing Chef-owner Derek Davis from way back when during his halcyon days in Manayunk, when he sparked the restaurant revolution there, I knew Libertine would have to be good. But it was better than I expected. Trish, the maitre d', was warm and lovely, and made us feel instantly at home. Andrew, our server, was well-informative, amiable, and very friendly and helped make our dinner special. Guests at the adjacent tables were very easy to talk with, and we all remarked on the attractive appearance and aromas of our respective dishes. But the dinner itself was superb. My wife enjoyed hers immensely. But my lobster burger was perhaps the best "burger" I've ever had, even topping Jose Garces' foie gras burger I enjoyed in Scottsdale several years ago. I've found few chefs preparing lobster very well - usually too chewy., Derek's was perfect, and made for an outstanding dining experience. It was all a special evening. We intend to return again and again.
Pleasant surprise for a pre-show dinner. They have a great 3 course deal for $35. Everything was great and just a block away from Kimmel, et al. Secret Chicken and Scallops were both excellent. Can't recommend enough!
Toast bar is my two new favorite words together. What a cool idea where you can get endless toast, bagels, jams, cream cheese, etc. My fritatta had a small green salad on top with an amazing dressing that just made it a wonderful combination. Eggs were cooked correctly and maple bacon was perfection. Quiet restaurant. Lovely space. Will return.
Overall the food was pretty good..but service issues made it less than a great experience.
We had a 7:00 reservation and when we walked in we were told our table wasn’t ready and it would be 10-15 minutes. At 7:20 the owner(?) suggested we might want to sit by the bar until our table was ready..no offer to buy us a drink..just a seat to wait longer. We weren’t seated until 7:35 drink orders taken at 7:45 and food order at 7:55 when we were informed that they just ran out of chicken.. Not sure we’ll be back.
My wife and I had tickets to enjoy a show at the nearby Kimmel center. The show started at 8:00 pm. We made reservations for 5:30 pm and ordered our dinners at 5:45 pm. It was after 7:00 pm and our dinners did not arrive. We complained. Our dinners started to arrive at 7:20 pm. We dined as out friends sat and watched us. Their dinners arrived when we were half way through our dinner. We were having a show dinner special that included dessert. We did not have enough time to have our dessert. When our friends complained, the manager, Trish, took us off the show special meal price and charged us the normal price and deducted the dessert. Bottom line, she did nothing to remedy the situation. She then had the nerve to give us a complimentary coupon for a drink at out next visit. Their will not be a next visit!!!! They ruined out entire evening.
Food was very good & comforting. American food slightly elevated. Derek’s on Main Street was my go to for a guaranteed good meal. I expected nothing less and was satisfied. Libertine will definitely be a go-to when I want a guaranteed good meal. My only issue was that I selected “Birthday” on OpenTable and notified in the comment section. There was no communication while at the restaurant and nor a candle in the dessert. Above all, I will definitely return.
