First time here (client business lunch), loved LIC Market. Warm greeting upon arrival, friendly service, great food - best BLT I've EVER had, excellent iced tea....all around very nice experience. When back in LIC again will definitely be going back.
Our group of three had an excellent dinner which was only overshadowed by the excellent and accommodating service.
It was a great evening with friends and family. The food was absolutely delicious. Service was spectacular. We all had a really lovely time!
There is real imagination and attention to flavors at this restaurant. It's small and the kitchen in as big as a
closet. It took one hour for our food to come, maybe in part because we ordered a steak medium well.
We had a 7pm reservation and requested an outdoor table for a birthday but when we got there were offered a choice of two indoor tables with no mention of the outdoor request. Restaurant was full.
Food was very good although a $48 steak could have had the gristle trimmed off. Salad was fantastic, potatoes addictive. The vegetarian liked the brussel sprouts, the red rice.
The restaurant could significantly improve their dessert offerings: only 3 sweets. Cheeses. This was celebrating a birthday so we ordered all three desserts and shared, but they were all disappointing - goat cheese cake, something chocolate and another forgettable choice. All were Really Tiny for $8.
What a find! the service was attentive, friendly and genuinely wanted us to have a great time [and we did]. Food was awesome - well we all had burgers but having ad the rest, LIC Market has the best burger. That said everything was so nice that I will be going back to try the other things on the menu that all looked delicious. Oh one of us had the pasta which was also Very Good!
Great restaurant. I've never had a dish I didn't like, and the service has always been stellar. Food is really fresh, wine selection is fantastic, and the servers are great at answering questions about the menu. It's not inexpensive, so I usually go on special or semi-special occasions, but I think the prices are definitely reasonable for the quality of the food. I highly recommend.
Delicious food, exceptional service, cute atmosphere.
You could easily miss the entrance, on the ground floor of an ordinary-looking townhouse. But it's about as easy to get to as anyplace in Queens: literally between the exits of the 23rd St-Court Sq subway stop, where the E, M and 7 trains stop. We got a seat way in the back, and ate our way through a yummy cheese plate and then the tasty garganelli and a pesto-based risotto. Highly notable was the cider they served -- Nine Pin Cidre Rosé, made from apples grown upstate and mixed with New York grapes. But everything was locally-sourced and delicious.
You had me at duck hash. Wine selection is outstanding.
Always the best when I come here!
Great food and service.
Had a 7:00 reservation for 2. There were plenty of tables but when we asked for a 4-seater so my fiancé and I could sit next to each other, the hostess made a face and said she had to check with the manager. She returned and told us if a larger party showed up we’d have to give up the table. No more diners showed up in the time we were there... Welcome to LIC Market!
My $45 ribeye was tough and salvaged only by the $15 roasted mushroom appetizer that I saved since it - taken by itself - was nothing special.
My fiancé ordered the roasted chicken. Essentially a leg quarter with imperceptible seasoning. Again not a good value, even by NYC standards.
Our server Jess was pleasant and bubbly but wasn’t around when the meal was over. I don’t recall the name of the waitress who took her place but she was great (maybe a touch more genuine than her colleague).
I honestly regret having chosen this place, and I seldom say that.
Hope folks find this helpful.
Had dinner with a few friends, and we all loved it! The ambience was perfect for relaxing dinner with friends, and we didn't have to scream at each other to talk (this is super nice as we were able to ACTUALLY enjoy our conversations and catch up). Food was excellent, staff were friendly, and we also didn't feel rushed either. A lovely place for a little get together. I would definitely go back for more of that enjoyable time and food.
Amazing food, great atmosphere. Good place to bring out of town guests!
Went on a recommendation from a friend. It was really good. We had a nice table outside for lunch. Excellent service and will definitely return.
I was in a bind trying to get out of Manhattan traffic before a flight and came across this cute little spot during a business trip. They offer daily specials and a menu that can cater to the “I can’t decide what kind of food I want” mood. They had 2 soups, a mushroom and a lentil. The mushroom was delicious, and quite filling. I had a beet and goat cheese salad with chicken, and took two cookies to go. Their staff is wonderful, Matt (the manager) was so accommodating (greeted me immediately and offered to hold onto my luggage), checked in multiple times and left me with a great experience. Love this little gem and can’t wait to go back!
LIC Market is a hidden gem in the neighborhood. The service was outstanding from the time we arrivrd to the time we left. The food was exceptional delicious.
LIC Market is great for brunch, so I figured it would be good for dinner too. It was not. I ordered the pork and it was all fat served on top of boring lentils for $30. Wine is also really pricey. Not worth it when it's being paired with really bland food. Spent about $70 for the pork and a glass of wine.
Every dish and all service startlingly excellent. Large portions, too. Love.
We celebrated a birthday here and had an incredible experience! Everything was exceptional! We sat on back outdoor patio area and it was lovely! Service was top notch and food was outstanding! Our new favorite neighborhood gem! Can’t wait to go back! Thank you!
Spectacular food, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented, as usual, and server Alice is THE best.
The recipes, freshness and execution wowed us. Perfect service too. And very large portions, which you often don't see with food of this quality. Will be regulars.
We had eaten at LIC Market several months ago, and returned because we had found it so good the first time. Alas, our experience this time was not as stellar. Firstly, the Happy Hour menu was downright confusing. Some items on the menu were on the regular menu at the same price. Really, we found the regular menu a bit confusing, too. They just need to be organized better. Secondly, I ordered a glass of the red wine, which I remember to be La Santouche. I did taste it, so it was my own fault in the end, but when the waitress poured the whole glass, I would swear the bottle had already turned vinegary. I did not protest, as I should have stopped the waitress before she poured, but it was a disappointment. We had the soft shell crabs, which were quite OK, but in all honesty, were the smallest of the softshell crabs I have eaten in the last couple months. And the side of brussel sprouts, which are frequently a vegetable favorite of ours, were not the tastiest we have had lately, either. You want honesty, so I give you honesty. We went quite a bit out of our way to return to LIC Market, but would not do so again.
Backyard terrace casual, rustic & charming. Service very attentive and accommodating. Mushroom fava bean appetizer very tasty. Chunky fries crispy! Light and sweet blueberry coconut panna cotta.
A wonderful experience as always!
Amazing dinner with friends on Saturday 5/19. LIC market had great seasonal dishes (soft-shelled crab), juicy steaks and the wine was delicious. The wait staff was excellent. Will definitely be going again!
Not the only show in town, but one of the few yuppie kind of places in this run-down area that is now gentrifying. Citibank has two office towers a block away and there are recently-built high-priced apartment buildings nearby. The place is roughly and cheaply finished, with tables packed so tightly that the skinny bus man's backside was often in my face when he was servicing the next table. A previous reviewer complained that the place wasn't properly heated and that he'd had to eat with his coat on. I can tell him that it isn't properly air conditioned either-the three of us were sweating. Needless to say, the chairs are uncomfortable. The first time I was there our manager took me and a co-worker to lunch. I ordered a salad plus chicken, but there was no chicken with it. Three times water glasses were knocked over due to lack of space for the workers to function without bumping into anything. Went back yesterday with two people I wanted to thank for helping me with something. It was a couple of months after the first time, but the wait staff had completely changed. There didn't seem to have been any point in making a reservation through OpenTable because the staff I told did not inform the host. The line of people were seated in the order they came in, regardless. Lucky for us there was one table left. When I mentioned that to the host he said "I know what I'm doing." The waitress was lovely but really inept. One person got a salad while we other two sat there waiting another 15 minutes. My co-worker's soup was brought with her main dish, but no one thought to bring a spoon with it and we had to flag down the bus man as the waitress was rushing around with other orders. My avocado BLT was good but not outstanding in any way-except that there was only one slice of bacon in it. The menu is idiosyncratic and perhaps planned according to the limitations of the tiny kitchen and the affectations of the people who flock to the place to show that they're cool.
Pleasantly little surprised by this spot - great service and food in a comfortable environment. Would love to sit on the porch next time!
Very fun and friendly waitstaff. Nice ambiance.
I had family in for a Broadway show and we didn't want to go the midtown restaurants for dinner. We had dinner here and then walked 1 block to the E train and were in our seats in less than 20 minutes.
We had our anniversary dinner here. One of my favorite restaurants. Amazing food, great wine list, and better service. Will keep coming back.
We went here for dinner and had the ribeye. It was delicious and would definitely recommend it. The service was also great. I would like to go back for the brunch because I’ve heard it’s great!
The food and service here are consistently excellent. Looking forward to my next meal here.
This place has never failed me. Relax atmosphere with great servers, great Happy hour and great food
A neighborhood gem that is great for friends or a date. The service is always friendly, and the food is total comfort.
At the risk of this place becoming way too crowded, let me say this:
I've eaten at many very good restaurants around the U.S., even in the UK and France. This place, LIC Market, is simply one of the very best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure to dine at, and it has amazing world-class food set in a place with a rather understated ambiance. Their wine list is also first rate without being overpriced or pretentious -- and all of the wine is natural or biodynamic too, as I understand it.
I wish there were several more locations of LIC Market around NYC and the burbs so that i could dine here more often!
