The exciting flavours created by Head Chef, Robert Ortiz and Virgilio Martinez (Executive Chef and ranked #5 in the World 50 Best List and #1 in Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list) have won us many happy customers. And while our diners are most important, we have had many favourable reviews from critics (“An almost unimprovable meal” – Matthew Norman, The Daily Telegraph) and numerous industry awards.
Lima London was first awarded a Michelin star in 2013 – the first and only Peruvian restaurant to achieve this.
Please note that children under 12 are welcome in the restaurant until 7 pm.
We want your experience at LIMA to be unique.
I visited the restaurant with a friend and I was quite disappointed by the quality of the dishes. Half of them were very delicious with refined taste (mostly seafood and fish based) but the rest really didn’t have anything special and we hardly could taste the actual ingredients used to make them.
Although the service was impeccable, I won’t be back as I feel it wasn’t great value for money
Excellent food and flavours but somewhat overpriced
Nice restaurant, good, helpful and friendly service, amazing food. Small portions.
What a experience! We had a great lunch on December the 6th. The authentic Peruvian food and the good service was one of our highlites on our Londontrip. We are coming back for sure!
The food was amazing and the service super friendly. Thank you for a great night!
Birthday meal which was a pleasant evening :) prosecco for the table as a birthday gesture which was lovely. Food was tasty and small as you would expect for a place like this. Great service. Chilled and relaxed dinner. Yum!
Truly excellent food. Every bite a pleasure. Congratulations to the chef ... Lima without doubt deserves five stars. Good service too
Food tastes nice but portions are tiny and service is super slow.
Why would you presume to tell me, when I write a review as requested, how long it should be, especially when the two words that I wrote encapsulate my sentiments perfectly and communicate fully and succinctly to any interested reader. The arrogance of your instruction betrays your ignorance of the beauty of English, its exactitude and its ability to communicate briefly by the use of 'le mot juste.'
The table was ready one hour after the booking time. No commercial gesture has been made even though we asked. Food overall was very fat from being outstanding. Extremely far from being a michelin star experience
great presentation of plates.
The appetisers were the highlight. At £26 the small roast beef on cold polenta was very disappointing. Seafood rice was nice but no more
Not one I would recommend. I can’t believe that this restaurant had a Michelin star? Surroundings, service nor food wowed
Delicious Peruvian food, drinks and desserts. Great options. Excellent service. I loved the beef pachamanca and the chicken causa.
We ordered the Lima recommends menu for 5. The food was all very tasty, and this is one of the more authentic Peruvian restaurants in London (my wife is Peruvian). However it was a very strange set up, whereby they brought 2 small plates of each dish for us all to share. This was not explained when we ordered and we had assumed we would each receive our own plate for each dish. It is quite awkward sharing some dishes like ceviche. Luckily we were all family, but I can imagine it would be quite awkward if one ordered this menu on a business meal. The service was poor for the price; no explanation of what each dish was, no fresh plates with each course; no serving spoons and it was difficult to attract waiters’ attention as they were very busy. We were also seated downstairs and it was very noisy, I think upstairs looked nicer. Overall we felt it was overpriced for the small amount of food we received, but if you really want to try authentic Peruvian flavours this is one of the better options in London.
Booked in months before a visit and given one of the worst tables in the restaurant.
Very friendly waiting staff.
The equivalent of the Maitre'd on the door was very useless.
Very good food, inventive and delicious combinations of taste. Attentive service. After being in Peru, I must say this is not very authentic Peruvian (no alpaca or guinea pig on the menu, quite sophisticated dishes). Also not really for casual dining as it is very expensive (£100 per person incl. drinks is a lot) - I'd say for special occasions only.
Good food. Pleasant service, could be a liitle more attentive, drinks take a long time to come out.
Really did not enjoy Lima London. I love Peruvian food and grew up in Lima, this is a poor representation of what it should taste like and miniature portions for the price. I make better myself which is disappointing when you’re paying top prices for food.
Staff were friendly but took ages trying to get attention for bill and then again to pay.
Ordered the Lima recommends chef signature selection for 3 people and were left very disappointed. The dishes were ordinary (the vegetables China tasted like badly made homemade stir-fry), not enough food for 3 and the service was a further let down. All in all it was terrible value and nowhere near as nice as my visit 2 years ago. Won’t be going back!
Simply fantastic - strong Peruvian flavours, elegantly served. Like no other cuisine.
Amazing Peruvian experience, delicious food and excellent quality service.
First tried Lima a couple of years ago and was blown away by the menu and the quality. They have evolved and improved over the years, certainly deserve the Michelin star
We had the most incredible meal for my husbands birthday. We tried a wide variety of things on the menu and Enjoyed each one. They all were absolutely exquisite. Some of the top ones we tried were The corn bread cakes which were divine, as was the ceviche, the sucking pig and the lamb. Each a dish was more outstanding than the one before. Then it was time for desert Nd we were treated to 4 divine delicacies. Chef Robert and his team made truly our night very special. Can’t wait To go back again.
The pisco sours were also on pointe. 👍👍
The overall experience was wonderful and the food is very tasty. There is also a wide variety of vegetarian options, which were delicious. The service was extremely poor and he kept apologising for the delay and would forget to serve us. However, he did give us a free dessert to make up for the inconvenience.
Service was poor had to ask for menus and wine list , then had to chase for order to be taken and to bring the wine ...twice !!
Service really slow and they ran out of chicken !! Seriously on a Saturday night which restaurant In the west end runs out of chicken !!!!
Will not be returning there any time
Fantastic evening spent celebrating our anniversary. Great service. Beautiful food. Very tasty. Made to feel very special. Thank you.
A must-try in London ! Make sure to try their Pisco sour.
Great place - different.
A bit all over the place. Snacks came out after starters and as this was a second visit, we could tell that there was less on our plates than a few months ago. They also forgot to bring a dish but didn’t forget to add it to the bill. Much less burratta on the corn cake, and less salmon in the main hot ceviche dish. Compared our photos from last time. This seems to be becoming a norm for this once great spot. Asked for the bill which never arrived and we ended up paying upon exit. They also seated a couple next to us at around 10:20pm, they took a drinks order from them and when they hailed a waiter to take their food order they were told they couldn’t order food at that time. Why weren’t they told that before being seated? How this has a Michelin star based off the service alone is questionable. Food is good but still no where near one star level. Unless they fix things fast I can see more and more people making their visit their last.
Third time at Lima wasn't as good as prior visits. Despite having reservation we were seated downstairs, next to the pantry, with no other guests and no music. Prior to ordering we asked to be moved. Then we were sat upstairs, next to the front door and against cold windows. If you visit, ask to NOT be seated in one of the B-list seating areas ... you don't get the music, you don't get the decor, and you definitely don't get the vibe.
The food was amazing ... as always.
Our favourite wine, Otazu, was not available. These things happen.
Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. Although, poor guy, knew nothing about the wine.
I had to get up to ask for the bill. When it arrived, I said we're ready to pay (as my guests were in a hurry). I had to get up again to ask to pay.
I'm not surprised Lima lost their Michelin star. I doubt I will be rushing back for a fourth visit, and would rather go back to Senor Ceviche which is just down the road.
Just like Lima Floral in Covent Garden, this restaurant offers interesting Peruvian food in a very pleasant environment. Lovely service and quite reasonably priced for what you're getting (we paid around £70 per head including drinks). I'd definitely recommend it and I'm sure we'll be back.
great meal, good food, good service.
only gripe is it took 30 mins to get the bill after requesting it twice. given the service was excellent, that was a bit odd.
Big disappointment compared to a couple of years ago when food was exceptional and amazingly presented. Now presentation is very poor, (a sea bass with few leaves of rughetta on top!!) small anonymous dishes, food and combinations are average except for a couple of very good dishes (octopus olivo and prawn chupe). Also Beef Pachamanca was good but again, very poor as quantity and presentation to be a main dish! The rest is not worth it. It would have been ok if prices had been at least 30-40% less so definitively not good value for money. We will not go back.
The service and cocktails were great but overall the food was not what I’d expect from a restaurant like this. Aside from the ceviche which was good the rest was well below the standard you’d normally get for such a high price. We had the Peru experience menu and some of the dishes were very disappointing (the vegetable stir fry/ pork / dessert). A lot of money for a mediocre selection of dishes.
Really enjoyed our dinner
The food was excellent and the presentation of each dish was wonderful. We celebrated our anniversary and were offered a glass of bubbles on the house which was much appreciated. We will definately return. Thank you Lima for a great evening!
Although the dishes are small, the food is incredible and worth every penny. Very authentic and tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this place
Awesome Peruvian food - great with friends when you share the food and get to taste the dishes. I really can’t decide what was best because everything was spectacular
Food was excellent, very tasty, but service was below expectations. We had to ask/ remind the waiter to bring our drinks order multiple times during the night- the attendant must have been new, but even so you would have expected management to appropriately supervise or have trained the new staff to be attentive to the orders. The manager was accommodating with changing one of the dishes on the tasting menu for our friends for religious reasons. However, when asked a simple question as to whether the tasting menu had raw fish as we had two pregnant ladies in our group the manager’s answer was not great- he said that he was able to accommodate the request change for religious reasons but not for the pregnant ladies, which was very poor! Again, I trust this is a training issue as he could have approached his response differently rather than saying religious reasons is fine but not for any other health reasons! In the end, we opted for the tasting menu as the fish had been previously frozen which was fine for our pregnant friends to eat.
So, in summary, we would visit LIMA again as the food was delicious, but service and staff training needs to improve massively to ensure customers remember their dining experience for the right reasons.
Great food, beautiful presentation, local food and drinks, friendly staff
