Excellent sevice! Amazing food! Highly recommend! Will definitely come back again.
My uncle and I went to brunch and really enjoyed it. All of the food was excellent. The hake stood out. Having never tried Peruvian food, we also found the yucca chips and the ceviche fantastic. The service deserves a mention: very attentive and friendly waiters/waitresses. Overall excellent experience. The only negative was that the brunch, while bottomless (great Pisco Marys), was on the expensive side at £49.
Food was ok, though a little overpriced. The ambience was loud and noisy (it doesn’t cover many tables so I’d recommend being seated somewhere away from larger groups). Service was slow but good overall. Slightly deflated by my experience here.
Having lived in Peru, this is a testament to the highest quality of Peruvian food.
Amazing atmosphere, professional and friendly staff, the food was simply marvelous. We ordered some things twice!
Quite good food on a slower Sunday night. Meat was was slightly not warm enough. Value was ok.
I decided to try for family gathering ( 4 of us) because of Micheline star rating. The food was tasty, but Michelin star level overall ? you are kidding
Really fantastic. Got there at 11:45 for brunch but it didn't pick up until 1-1:30 or so. Beautiful decor, great value for a multi-course meal!
Delicious food, really good service. Perfect place for anniversary dinner
We had high, hopeful expectations of an enjoyable pre theatre dinner, but were sadly and disappointedly let down - big time.
First of all; if you advertise a pre-theatre menu, then why not provide diners with that pre-theatre menu - rather than leaving us to ask for it? Minor point, but the underlying message is clear.
The main issue concerned our main course dishes, which were - at best - tepid and lukewarm; at worst - bordering on cold. My girlfriend, on tasting her dish first, asked if the dish could be heated up. This was taken away to be reheated whilst I then found that my own main course (and our side dish (£3.50 for 8 or so almost cold sweet potato fries)) were similarly lukewarm. We agreed that if ever we were to serve food like this to our friends, we would be embarrassed and ashamed! As we needed to leave on time to catch a coach, I was left to eat my main course and our (shared) side dish quickly before it became totally cold on my own, and my girlfriend her (warmed up) dish on her own when that arrived. Awful.
To finish things off, after choosing not to leave a tip, we were followed out of the restaurant by a waiter, asking why we had not left a service charge (by the way, they don't like you to decide this yourself - adding 12.5% themselves)! I thought that only happened in the worst places in America. Our final experience was to be left waiting to collect our coats before we ended up having to open up the wardrobes where these were stored ourselves and hunt for them.
I only hope other diners take our experiences into account. We shan't be returning and would recommend others don't allow themselves to go through what we did.
How do you acquire/keep a Michelin star when serving food lukewarm?
The Lima Fitzrovia was one of the best restaurants I have tried in London. The meat was fantastic and the meals were beautifully presented.
Lima is colourful, tasty, sophisticated and, at times, mind-boggling. It will not disappoint a foodie who would appreciate the chefs' skill of cooking everything to perfection or anybody who just loves eating well in an innovative yet unpretentious way.
Definitely worth a visit. Or, in my case, several.
Genuinely great food and really pleasant staff. Can't recommend enough
Great food and excellent service, we were 30mins late but still managed to have a nice seat with warm welcome, the food is fresh and distinctive Peruvian style ... love it
Nearly chocking in front of friends at a dinner I organised on Black Cod is not a dining experience I would recommend.
For an apparent Micehlin starred restaurant, nearly chocking on not just 1 but 4 very large bones in one of Lima's signature dishes is simply not acceptable.
Having to stick my fingers down my own throat in front of my guests to get the bones out was not just embarrassing but I was actually in fear of my own life and that is not being dramatic.
This combined with a different vintage of wine being served than was on the menu (a year younger yet the same price) left me and my friends extremely let down.
Then the paltry apology (not even from the chef) (albeit I received a free cocktail and dessert) and then having to dispute the bill is simply unacceptable.
Needless to say this was an extremely disappointing dining experience.
Being from Lima, I expected the ceviche to be more natural, but it was not (maybe for someone who has never tried ceviche it would be amazing). The tiradito was good. The grilled octopus was on point, very very tasty, 10 points, and the maracuya and pisco sour were really good as well. Maybe “tierra” dishes are what they excel on, will try those in a different occasion.
Great food and good ambience. Service was a little slow
Lima was fantastic. I had requested a nice table for an anniversary dinner, and we were seated in a cozy corner with plenty of space. The food was delicious - both for meat lovers like myself and vegetarians like my girlfriend. Highly recommended!
Food was delicious, but the service was very slow. Got the tasting menu for £70 each. There was up to 40 minutes between courses with no explanation or apology. Other people were complaining and got free drinks. By the time dessert came all but one of the waiters seemed to have gone home. Had to go find the waiter to get the bill. No one to see us out or say good bye. Very understaffed. I later realized they hadn't even brought us the final after dessert course. I emailed them but got no reply. The food was very good but for £230 for 2 people you can eat much better in this area without having to wait so long. So unfortunately I can't recommend it.
I've been here many times in the last few years. I still like it but there are some niggles. Overall I am not sure the standard of the food is quite where it once was. Just not quite as surprising and sophisticated. But still very enjoyable. The Maitre D' and waiting staff were charming but the service was slow. After being shown to our table we waited a good 15 minutes before anyone came to take a drinks order or even bring some water. We had been there 45 minutes before we actually got our starter. And it is screamingly expensive for what it is. It is the last point that means I probably won't go again for quite a while.
Very interesting and well balance food in a pretty cosy room.
Very shame for the service witch was definitely not at the level of the expectations.
The cocktails we started with were overpriced and watery in taste.
We needed to ask many times to have the water, the bottle of wine we ordered was not at the table when the food came ...we ask for it... same story for the wine by the glass with the main course...
A curly young lady was delivering the food without even explain what it was... we do not eat Peruvian every day right?
Really... No point to leave 12.5% service charge for this kind of service.
No rush to come back
Some Japanese words in the food menu confused me if this testaurant is Peruvian or Japanese.
The waiters and waitress were hardly able to explain the ingredients to us. How were we suposed to know exotic Peruvian i gredients or dishes?
The portion was tiny. One sushi nigiri = £3, not one set of two.
We were still hungry afyetwards and went to KFC.
Great food, good service.
Wonderful lunch at Lima. Surprisingly quiet on a Monday lunchtime; I say surprisingly as, given the food offered, there should be queues around the block.
The ceviche was remarkable; superb fresh taste and presented beautifully. The main of lamb was small, but perfectly formed. Good value from the lunch menu - 2 courses £19.00.
Very good service; they will be sick of me visiting before long!
Understaffed, long wait (20 minutes for a drink),food served cold. Location downstairs absolutely anonimous and not very clean
Lovely meal with a great wine. I would have preferred to have been in the back as it was such a cold night. Would definitely go again.
King prawn chupe - do not leave without having eaten this sumptious dish!
Everything was perfect !!!!congratulations guys great job ... the food is amazing thanks we will come again !!!
Great Food, nicely spiced and a very trustworthy sommelier!
Service was very slow and we were one of the first table to arrive ....
Amazing food and service
Peruvian food in cosy surroundings; not cheap but beautifully played.
Unbelievable!!! All the dishes were simply amazing, so well balanced and thought of, using very healthy ingredients as well. Will be back soon
Great service and great food!!!
Four visits in two years and more than ever one of my favorite restaurants in London. Outstanding food, perfectly prepared and presented in a leisurely and lively atmosphere. The service is fast and kind but does not have a clou about wines and the wine list has little to offer. Given the abundance of quality wines from South America the bottles offered at Lima are mediocre, only.
Simply great (5th visit)
Possibly the best dining experience I have had. The Lima Hoy tasting menu selection was adventurous, superbly presented and full of punchy flavours. Service was attentive and friendly, and the price extremely reasonable for a Michelin starred restaurant. However, this is not a silver service & dinner jacket place, more of a high end bistro, but when the food is like this, there's nothing wrong with that in my book!
Had a business dinner - one and one - and needed something with a vegetarian and carnivore menu, that would be tasty and novel. The restraunt met my need.
Found me a nice corner table, provided menu guidance and delivered fine food.
Only niggle was the space to eat, just a tad more space and comfort would have been perfect. Even a few pillows or something would have added to comfort. So a fine meal and fine ambience all around. A big thanks to you and your team.
The food was creative and nice. Stand alone the ingredients were not outstanding but with the spices and marinade they were good.
Service was friendly but very slow.
Good place, but not a Michelin star
