Limestone Hotel & Restaurant
Really enjoyed our meal. The waiter was charming and attentive. Nice that the chef came out and had a chat and asked us how our meal was.
Cosy, contemporary restaurant but pushing two small, round tables together for three/four people does not work well. Upright bench seating against the wall, uncomfortable after a short while, so had to move to a more relaxed chair.
Food excellent, as always, even though the menu choice has shrunk since the refurb - wish there was more choice of seafood mains. Dessert deliciously decadent.
Food was superb, all local produce and cooked to perfection
Good quality food and excellent service from the team. A little on the expensive side compared to other establishments. The menu does not appear to vary day to day.
Very friendly staff Lovely food and freshly baked bread with oil The crab starter was excellent as was the lobster The cheese board was great and they kindly changed the goats cheese for more of the lovely soft Isle of Wight cheese
Honor to the Chef!! The restaurant is excellent and the atmosphere is refined
Lovely small venue and great view.
Food choices is limited but great nevertheless.
A lovely evening at the Limestone to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Lovely food and excellent service.
Delicious food, lovely, friendly and attentive staff and a lovely intimate venue. We dined early and it was very peaceful. The scallops were delicious; the trout with pesto and samphire was excellent, as was the chocolate brownie. We'd go again, but sadly we're not local!
We had a delicious meal and gorgeous evening at the Limestone Restaurant. Staff were lovely and very professional. Food was amazing. We tried the Lobster Thermidore and the Duck and both dishes were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Will definitely be returning.
The people were so friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner - scallops and crab apps were delicious. The fish of the day was one of the best fish dishes ever. It had a light sauce that didn’t overwhelm the fish. Rooms were comfortable. Just a short walk to the Cove.
Went here with my other half to surprise her for her birthday weekend as well as a congratulations on her graduation. We travelled down from Edinburgh on the Friday to dine here on the Saturday following a recommendation from my father. The food was excellent. Perfectly cooked and really tasty! Staff were faultless. Very tentative and friendly. My father organised a card which was there on the table when we arrived along with cake which was a nice unexpected surprise which was perfectly executed by the staff of the hotel. Thank you so much. Will make sure to visit again in the future.
Fantastic meal, made very welcome by the staff. The night ended with some drinks on the terrace watching a beautiful sunset over the hills.
This is a fantastic hotel to stay in and the restaurant is a gem. Great location, Great people and the quality of the food blew us away. We would highly recommend that you give this place a visit, we will be back! Congratulations to Edward and his team for giving us a fantastic week and some really really quality food.
Excellent meal in a small cosy boutique restaurant. We had scallops & crab to start with lobster and a halloumi salad for mains. All beautifully fresh seafood really well prepared and presented. An excellent restaurant, not cheap but half the price of a London equivalent.
Our second visit, returned after a great experience last time. Food incredible, the right amount of buzzing and intimate and really friendly and attentive staff. Great wine selection and the steak with chimichurri and scallops in particular were amazing. Love the recent refurb and can’t wait to visit again.
Probably most visitors to Lulworth overlook the Limehouse restaurant as it sits within the hotel. Their loss as the food and service were the best we had during our stay. Perhaps people expect it to be expensive but it is no more so than other local restaurants but offers delicious fresh food and exemplary service. Desserts, cheese board, coffees and their home made Amaretto biscuits are divine.
We returned after an excellent meal that we enjoyed the previous summer.
The decor has been redesigned and whilst attractive in its own right, it has changed the ambiance to its detriment. The tables are too close together, reducing the feeling of intimacy compared to the previous layout and the noise level is slightly higher, also due to the changes made. The chunky bar in the dining room itself does not 'work', reducing available space and impacting the ambiance adversely.
That said, a pleasant enough space - so ultimately it's down to the food.
Sadly this was average at best compared to what we had experienced the previous summer - I can only conclude the chef has changed? There was a more limited menu. What we had was perfectly edible but no longer 'special'. I could have produced better myself. The chicken dish with Toasted AlmondsBroccoli&Cauliflower,BoulangerePotato,PeppercornSauce was ordinary and at £19, overpriced for what it was. (3 course meal for 2 with £25 wine bottle, but no coffee, was £96 pre any service)
Overall, dissappointing after what had been a great experience in 2018 - so much so, that whilst I almost never write a review, this time I want to provide feedback in the hope that things might change and I can perhaps return again. (assuming they'll still have me!)
Wonderful food in a recently refurbished dining room, with excellent, friendly service with a personal feel.
Amazing seafood and a beautiful small dining setting. Everything was exceptional from starter to desert.
We ate here on New Years Eve and it was some of the best food we have eaten in a long time, could not fault it in any way. Very attentive staff and it was lovely that the chefs came out to say hello. We will definitely be coming back.
Amazing venue for a special occasion. We came twice in the week leading up to New Year including New Year's Eve and could not fault the food and service. Staff courteous, friendly, polite and gave us their time and were interested in our opinion. Fantastic chef came out from the kitchen to ask if we had enjoyed the food, which we definitely did.
Would highly recommend this lovely restaurant if anyone is in the area.
We had also visited on previous occasions.
Delicious food and the staff were really friendly.
What a fabulous restaurant. Food amazing, staff excellent and friendly service. Great little bar area. Will definitely be going again. A hidden gem
Very good food with service to match
Very good restaurant and the food was great highly recommend
Very disappointed the Lamb Rump 2 of us had was fatty, had gristle in it and looked as if just dumped on plate, fine dining it is not. The Octopus starter was disappointing and the Octopus looked as if it had been bought from supermarket. The Scallop starter got the thumbs up as did Prosecco.
Disappointed to see some people making no effort to dress in appropriate manner, not what would expect in what is setting out to be an exclusive dining room, there needs to be standard minimum dress code.
Unfortunately unable to recommend, not what we were expecting, better meal had on Friday night in Lolworth Cove.
Food excellent as always but on this occasion the restaurant area was far too hot and fire alarms went off several times during the meal. Not conducive to a relaxing romantic dinner.
Evening meal was excellant however I did feel the quality of the cooked breakfast was not great. Sausages were tough both days, and didnt like the fact that fruits and cold breakfast material was uncovered. Numerous flies in the restaurant landing on the food. Should be covered up.
Very pleasant evening with some very good food. A bit on the pricey side.
Used restaurant twice while staying at the hotel. Really nice on both occasions and good value.
We had dinner here two nights running and throughly enjoyed both meals. The ambiance and decor is excellent as are the staff. Great food, well cooked - highly recommended. Would also recommend booking a table in advance to avoid disappointment.
Visited while staying at the sister hotel called Limestone Lodge. Very professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent food in beautiful surroundings
Very good restaurant offering delicious food. Atmosphere is particularly good as it is small and intimate dining. Service is friendly and professional. Would certainly recommend this restaurant.
An excellent meal in a lovely spot. Very intimate surroundings as the dining room isn’t very big. Amazing views over the countryside around Lulworth. We’ll be back.
Great all round experience that we couldn't fault. Always like to see a limited menu rather than one that tries to be a bit of everything. Whilst fish and seafood are the stars of the show, there are great meat and vegetarian dishes on the menu that are just as good. This restaurant more than stands on its own two feet and is not just there for hotel guests. Chef comes and speaks to all once he has finished the cooking and is a lovely guy genuinely pleased to receive showers of praise from all. Great spot in an elevated position amid very pretty landscaped garden - lots of stairs though. Very big portions of fresh local fish and seafood given the reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Booked for birthday and anniversary Dinner. Staff congratulations on arrival and birthday message dusted onto a dessert plate which was nice. No complaints with the food - specials board provides a great set of additions. Highly recommended
Wonderful meal, excellent service. Highly recommended.
We were very happy with the service and the excellent meal, could not fault it. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. Great setting, high up from the road with a lovely outlook. Seating outside available if you want an aperitif before dinner, not sure if you can eat outside, possibly lunch or afternoon tea maybe. Overall I would definitely recommend it.
the food was amazing, the menu was made with local product and the service was excellent! I definitely suggest this place!
