Limestone Hotel & Restaurant
Very disappointed the Lamb Rump 2 of us had was fatty, had gristle in it and looked as if just dumped on plate, fine dining it is not. The Octopus starter was disappointing and the Octopus looked as if it had been bought from supermarket. The Scallop starter got the thumbs up as did Prosecco.
Disappointed to see some people making no effort to dress in appropriate manner, not what would expect in what is setting out to be an exclusive dining room, there needs to be standard minimum dress code.
Unfortunately unable to recommend, not what we were expecting, better meal had on Friday night in Lolworth Cove.
Food excellent as always but on this occasion the restaurant area was far too hot and fire alarms went off several times during the meal. Not conducive to a relaxing romantic dinner.
Evening meal was excellant however I did feel the quality of the cooked breakfast was not great. Sausages were tough both days, and didnt like the fact that fruits and cold breakfast material was uncovered. Numerous flies in the restaurant landing on the food. Should be covered up.
Very pleasant evening with some very good food. A bit on the pricey side.
Used restaurant twice while staying at the hotel. Really nice on both occasions and good value.
We had dinner here two nights running and throughly enjoyed both meals. The ambiance and decor is excellent as are the staff. Great food, well cooked - highly recommended. Would also recommend booking a table in advance to avoid disappointment.
Visited while staying at the sister hotel called Limestone Lodge. Very professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent food in beautiful surroundings
Very good restaurant offering delicious food. Atmosphere is particularly good as it is small and intimate dining. Service is friendly and professional. Would certainly recommend this restaurant.
An excellent meal in a lovely spot. Very intimate surroundings as the dining room isn’t very big. Amazing views over the countryside around Lulworth. We’ll be back.
Great all round experience that we couldn't fault. Always like to see a limited menu rather than one that tries to be a bit of everything. Whilst fish and seafood are the stars of the show, there are great meat and vegetarian dishes on the menu that are just as good. This restaurant more than stands on its own two feet and is not just there for hotel guests. Chef comes and speaks to all once he has finished the cooking and is a lovely guy genuinely pleased to receive showers of praise from all. Great spot in an elevated position amid very pretty landscaped garden - lots of stairs though. Very big portions of fresh local fish and seafood given the reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Booked for birthday and anniversary Dinner. Staff congratulations on arrival and birthday message dusted onto a dessert plate which was nice. No complaints with the food - specials board provides a great set of additions. Highly recommended
Wonderful meal, excellent service. Highly recommended.
We were very happy with the service and the excellent meal, could not fault it. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. Great setting, high up from the road with a lovely outlook. Seating outside available if you want an aperitif before dinner, not sure if you can eat outside, possibly lunch or afternoon tea maybe. Overall I would definitely recommend it.
the food was amazing, the menu was made with local product and the service was excellent! I definitely suggest this place!
Delicious food and great service. Great for a special occasion.
We had high hopes after reading the glowing reviews but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. The food was pretty average and the dishes didn’t seem to gel together. Maybe we jut chose badly because the couple next to us couldn’t have been more complimentary
Very nice evening. Lovely food in a very pleasant atmosphere. Lovely setting with nice views. Good choices.
A lovely small hotel and restaurant for an evening meal. Food and service were excellent. Parking a short walk away in a beautiful countryside village near the sea. Will return. Much the best place to eat in the Purbecks for food quality and presentation, service and value.
Afternoontea to die for. Could not face dinner later that day! Home made breads, cakes yummy. Really loved this restaurant as it is small enough to imagine the care being taken by the chef who takes pride in his craft. Superb breakfast.
We had an excellent meal here to celebrate my birthday. The service was very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. Our food was delicious and we would definitely return again.
Wonderful setting and excellent service, staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. Food was very good, but a couple of little things that stopped it from being 5 stars (lamb was a bit tough and the strawberries weren't hulled), picky details though that certainly didn't soul the whole lovely experience.
Food was excellent staff excellent and hotel wonderful Can say no more!
Obviously will return at another time.
Very nice food , however service was a little
Id say ... waiter and wairesss seemed preoccupied .. over all a good experience . I will go again
This is one of the most pleasant restaurants I have been to in a long time. It has some of the most charming village views in Dorset and the ambiance to match. The food was excellent, uncomplicated, local and tasty. It was served with a very pleasant reserved sense of care and attention without being overwhelming.
A beautifully situated hotel/restaurant with wonderful scenic views.
The service, hospitality and food were first class.
We arrived at the limestone hotel , had a gin and tonic on the terrace while we looked at the menu, also the specials board was also presented and read out to us. The meal was lovely could not fault also service was excellent. Would definitely go again if we were to visit lulworth cove. Hopefully again soon.
As usual never disappointed when having a meal at this hotel
Enjoyed the food and pre dinner drinks on the patio but service seriously dropped off after our mains had been served and the hotel guests arrived. Our dessert order took more than hour to be taken and served. Coffee wasn’t offered taking the edge off our evening. In addition there was no parking for for non hotel guests we had to park 400 yards away Ok on a summers evening but may be an issue on a dark winters night.
The service and hospitality was wonderful. It was a beautiful sunny evening so sat outside watching the sun go down. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly would definitely recommend staying there or just having dinner! Lovely.
Fantastic location with very courteous staff. Great outside area for pre dinner drinks. Savoury food was amazing. Desert less so.
A very relaxing evening. Touched that staff put a congratulatory card for my daughter. Will definitely visit again and recommend.
Simply stunning. Gorgeous food, gorgeous atmosphere, spectacular scenery! Will definitely go again
The food was good as was the service. However, the music being played was both too loud and totally inappropriate. We came a long way for dinner and did not want to listen to "Hit the Road Jack" and similar tunes . It ruined the meal and the atmosphere.
We asked for the music to be played less loudly but even then Frank Sinatra singing New York, New York did nothing for the evening. We paid and left after our main courses.Never again !
The food was to a high standard and although small the dining room was very pleasant. The staff were lovely and we enjoyed our evening. The homemade bread was particularly nice.
Super situation but the rooms are tired and the food is hit and miss. Staff were very friendly but some were slow and had to be reminded of orders placed.
We ate here on the recommendation of our excellent B&B (Bindon Bottom) only a short walk away, and on Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The front terrace offers a lovely setting for pre-dinner drinks and the restaurant is relatively small so you can enjoy your meal without excessive background noise but still with a good atmosphere. It follows that you should book ahead to guarantee yourself a table. The only slot available for us when we booked was 1830 but that suited us anyway. The staff are smartly dressed, attentive without being pushy, and very friendly. Our food was excellent, and there is a good specials selection available. We skipped starters, as normal for us. My fillet steak was very well cooked (the chef willingly gave me an alternative sauce as I am not a fan of Béarnaise) and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Crab, Scallops and Prawn Gratin. I recommend the Minervois wine, a sensibly priced and pleasant wine. Desserts were nice too – a custard tart special for me and the fresh berries for my wife. Overall this was a very enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings and was a pleasant change from the local pub grub. We will definitely eat here again if we return to this area.
Nice location but if going for dinner you need to select yout table well ir be blinded by tbe sun
Our evening at the Limehouse was absolutely lovely. The beautiful setting, fantastic service and delicious food all made this place definitely worth visiting again.
We have eaten at the Limestone several times and it is always a memorable experience.
The a la Carte menu is supplemented with a good choice of specials which change daily.
All the food is of excellent quality and cooked with care to produce a dish you will remember.
Lovely sauces and vegetables compliment the meat or fish and produce is generally locally sourced .
I had lobster from Kimmeridge bay which was amazing. Also can recommend the duck and pork.
The staff are amazing. They are so welcoming and attentive. Thank you for the special dessert and good wishes on my husband’s birthday. We love everything about the Limestone and will be back again in the future.
4th visit and still as enjoyable as ever. Service is always with a smile, bar/restaurant area comfortable and relaxing. As we are both vegetarian it is so good to have at least 3 starters and mains to choose from. Quality of food is above average - always tasty and well presented. Booking essential - Open Table simple and direct - no fuss.
We enjoyed our evening and spent nearly 3 hours having a leisurely meal in pleasant surroundings. Nice to be able to go somewhere decent but dress casual/smart.
Staff are always friendly and helpful.
My wife and I booked a meal here for her Birthday. We received a very warm welcome and were shown into a comfortable bar for a pre-dinner drink.
Having chosen our meals we were shown through into a very pleasant dinning room with a very scenic view. The food was excellent, well presented and extremely well cooked. The service was attentive without being overbearing, all the staff on duty that night were very friendly and pleasant.
We were very pleased with all aspects of our evening and it made a superb night out to celebrate my wife's birthday.
