Head chef Jon Box, brings the best local produce to your table, combined with his creativity, enthusiasm and local knowledge - it's a recipe for good food! Dorset is home to quality produce and we are fortunate to have made connections with small local suppliers. Our meat is sourced from Maiden Castle farm Dorchester, lobsters straight from Lulworth cove, our fish is caught along the Dorset coast, crab and scallops from Portland and Jon even grows his own Chilies which feature in one of his hot chutney's - delicious with salt & pepper Bridport squid or a South West cheese board !

We arrived at the limestone hotel , had a gin and tonic on the terrace while we looked at the menu, also the specials board was also presented and read out to us. The meal was lovely could not fault also service was excellent. Would definitely go again if we were to visit lulworth cove. Hopefully again soon.

Enjoyed the food and pre dinner drinks on the patio but service seriously dropped off after our mains had been served and the hotel guests arrived. Our dessert order took more than hour to be taken and served. Coffee wasn’t offered taking the edge off our evening. In addition there was no parking for for non hotel guests we had to park 400 yards away Ok on a summers evening but may be an issue on a dark winters night.

Fantastic location with very courteous staff. Great outside area for pre dinner drinks. Savoury food was amazing. Desert less so.
A very relaxing evening. Touched that staff put a congratulatory card for my daughter. Will definitely visit again and recommend.

The food was good as was the service. However, the music being played was both too loud and totally inappropriate. We came a long way for dinner and did not want to listen to "Hit the Road Jack" and similar tunes . It ruined the meal and the atmosphere.
We asked for the music to be played less loudly but even then Frank Sinatra singing New York, New York did nothing for the evening. We paid and left after our main courses.Never again !

Super situation but the rooms are tired and the food is hit and miss. Staff were very friendly but some were slow and had to be reminded of orders placed.

We ate here on the recommendation of our excellent B&B (Bindon Bottom) only a short walk away, and on Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The front terrace offers a lovely setting for pre-dinner drinks and the restaurant is relatively small so you can enjoy your meal without excessive background noise but still with a good atmosphere. It follows that you should book ahead to guarantee yourself a table. The only slot available for us when we booked was 1830 but that suited us anyway. The staff are smartly dressed, attentive without being pushy, and very friendly. Our food was excellent, and there is a good specials selection available. We skipped starters, as normal for us. My fillet steak was very well cooked (the chef willingly gave me an alternative sauce as I am not a fan of Béarnaise) and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Crab, Scallops and Prawn Gratin. I recommend the Minervois wine, a sensibly priced and pleasant wine. Desserts were nice too – a custard tart special for me and the fresh berries for my wife. Overall this was a very enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings and was a pleasant change from the local pub grub. We will definitely eat here again if we return to this area.

We have eaten at the Limestone several times and it is always a memorable experience.
The a la Carte menu is supplemented with a good choice of specials which change daily.
All the food is of excellent quality and cooked with care to produce a dish you will remember.
Lovely sauces and vegetables compliment the meat or fish and produce is generally locally sourced .
I had lobster from Kimmeridge bay which was amazing. Also can recommend the duck and pork.
The staff are amazing. They are so welcoming and attentive. Thank you for the special dessert and good wishes on my husband’s birthday. We love everything about the Limestone and will be back again in the future.

4th visit and still as enjoyable as ever. Service is always with a smile, bar/restaurant area comfortable and relaxing. As we are both vegetarian it is so good to have at least 3 starters and mains to choose from. Quality of food is above average - always tasty and well presented. Booking essential - Open Table simple and direct - no fuss.
We enjoyed our evening and spent nearly 3 hours having a leisurely meal in pleasant surroundings. Nice to be able to go somewhere decent but dress casual/smart.
Staff are always friendly and helpful.

My wife and I booked a meal here for her Birthday. We received a very warm welcome and were shown into a comfortable bar for a pre-dinner drink.
Having chosen our meals we were shown through into a very pleasant dinning room with a very scenic view. The food was excellent, well presented and extremely well cooked. The service was attentive without being overbearing, all the staff on duty that night were very friendly and pleasant.
We were very pleased with all aspects of our evening and it made a superb night out to celebrate my wife's birthday.

Excellent food , very friendly staff, lovely location. We walked up from the Cove it was a 10 minute stroll. Only sorry we didn't find the Limestone earlier in our stay. The advertising in their sister hotel The Lulworth Lodge was not very informative, the Limestones menu on the street could be more obvious too.

After reading the reviews of the restaurant and hotel I decided it would be a great treat whilst busing the Lulworth area. Unfortunately I was both underwhelmed by the food and somewhat disappointed. It wasn’t anything special at all. In fact I had eaten better and paid a lot less in other local restaurants. I just didn’t feel it was value for money at all. The staff were lovely and the service impeccable but not so much the food. Would I recommend it, unfortunately no as there are other restaurants in the area that knock spots off the food.

Nice position, nice setting, but I would expect more from the food for the money you pay. I had the steak which was very nice, but little else, when I asked for a side dish of chips all I got was a portion of frozen skinny chips,I would expect more from a establishment with a good reputation, will not return

Unfortunately there was a problem with cooking facilities in the main hotel. We were asked to come to the sister restaurant.

Bravo for being undaunted and continuing service in the other restaurant!

The meal was alright, not great perhaps down to the move and served in a silly little bowl in a very cold room.

Thumbs down this time but may try again when they’re back in order.

We enjoyed a lovely evening here. It was a Thursday night in Nov so to be fair there was no real atmosphere as we were the only people in the place . The young lady who looked after us was delightful and the good was good. We enjoyed a bottle of one of our favourite Riojas by Muga which helped the evening on nicely. We will be back but maybe on a more popular evening to inject some atmosphere.

Had a meal here during a stay near Lulworth Cove. The meal was delicious and we found it difficult to choose from the extensive menu (there is a very good specials board as well as the general menu). The surroundings are very nice and the 2 ladies that waited table on us were so so lovely and informative.

Would definitely recommend the Limestone. Lovely bar for pre-dinner drinks, very cosy.

We were welcomed immediately and asked if we would like a pre-dinner drink or to sit straight at our table. We opted for a pre-dinner drink in the cosy bar, and we're glad we did. A choice of Gins and a great cocktail were enjoyed.
Dinner was exemplary. Beautifully presented, amazing flavours, and very generous helpings of fish.
Service was discreet, efficient and spot on.
Seriously good food, in a great location. Lulworth is lucky to have such a great restaurant.

Initially the restaurant seemed a bit staid and stuffy, but it livened up as more (and younger) diners arrived. Food was very good and it was worth the drive (it takes a bit of finding in the dark and there is a bit of a walk from the nearest usable parking). Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Our sixth visit to the Limestone and it has become a mainstay of our holiday. Great choice of food, the menu is always changing and our meal was, as always, beautiful. The service was perfect, never rushed, always polite and the team make for a very pleasurable dining experience. I cannot rate the Limestone highly enough.
