Expected this City based restaurant to be quiet on a weekend but it was incredibly quiet - we were one of 4 tables. Service was lovely - attentive not in your face, very casually dressed staff - food was good (especially the cheddar croquettes on sauerkraut, although portion was very small), but the lack of ambience was a bit of a killer - we didn't stay for dessert or cocktails. Loved the long tall windows from the old lino factory, liked the exposes industrial pipework and downstairs looked a great bar area, but was empty. Would be interested to see mid-week, when local City workers all in
Very solid modern bistro/pub type place. Very enjoyable steak bavette, EXCELLENT chips, and a decent choice of modern beers. Ideal for a casual lunchtime catch-up with decent food.
Nice urban eatery. Recommend the negroni - a tasty treat.
What a lovely find! The food is really good - healthy, intersting, good options for vegetarians and vegans also; the place is wide, spacious and - a huge tick from me - the tables aren't all bunched together. Comfy plush sofas at marble tables, just right for sharing plates and drinking wine! Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and there is no sense of being rushed. Great value, great location ( out of the way, so all locals lunching and not touristy ), great food, great drinks menu, relaxing vibe.
Had dinner here with my friend on a quiet Tuesday evening - went for the 3 courses menu. Good food with reasonable price. Will definitely visit again
After being first shown a table away from everyone else in another empty room and then another table that was for 8 people in the main restaurant the staff found the three of us a nice table in the restaurant. There were only three other tables occupied!! A strange experience!!! The food was good and the service attentive although I didn’t like the very long thumbnail on the waiter!!! A little off putting. My three haddock croquettes (starter) were produced in a tiny bowl with no lettuce leaves or any trimmings. They tasted good though. The tiny bowl wasn't even sitting on a plate. It just seemed a strange way to present a starter. We ate on a Thursday lunchtime so perhaps the chef that day needed a little training in presentation! My haddock in batter was tasty and the other two people had steak slicers in sourdough. They said that it was good. I would recommend this restaurant but perhaps insist on a decent table.
The food is good, albeit a very limited menu.
More a wine bar atmosphere than restaurant, due to the noise level.
It’s ok if you want a lite bite, not a serious restaurant.
Nice atmosphere- at we went - it was quiet so we could chat properly - service good and staff attentive
Food is fine-dining level. The atmosphere is urban.
It was very quiet and the food really wasn’t all that
We came here for lunch because of being fans of The Dairy in Clapham. I started with sauerkraut and cheddar croquettes which I thoroughly enjoyed - they were flavoursome and moorish. My partner ordered pork scratchings with Lino kimchi and Szechuan mayo - again a really tasty starter. I opted for a large plate and glass of wine of the day that was essentially some leaves, slightly grilled courgettes, peas and ricotta. Despite being enjoyable, it certainly wasn't a large plate, more a starter size and left me hungry. My partner had Lino Merguez sausage done in a cassoulet style that was more satisfying although his verdict was 'pub grub'.
All in all rather good but portion size is not quite right for mains.
first dish was tiny. second was amazing: quality and quantity. service was just ok. the local is very pretty but it was completely empty! price is ok
On arrival seemed clean and spacious - lots of staff and not many customers - the staff however all seemed somewhat pre-occupied with themselves. We asked for the Top Table deal and straight away service slowed to a snails pace. We were essentially there for a pre-show dinner - arrived at 18:00 - 30 minutes before we got a drink - over an hour until the food arrived - the whole experience took 2 hours. Food was OK - drinks very expensive - 12.5% service charge - no apology offered - must be the norm.
Great service, well prepared British tapas style dishes. 2/3 plates and a glass of wine make for a perfect mid week date.
We came to Lino as a pre Barbican performance dinner solution, and it was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious and not relatively light. Also there was a glass of wine included in the menu option that we went for which happily offered a soft option for non drinkers. I really liked the venue and will use again and absolutely recommend to anyone reading this.
A very poor reception... telling us we can’t sit at the bar for pre dinner drinks. No guests arrived despite reception telling us the bar seats were booked.
Second visit and equally excellent as the first. Great menu which just meant choosing was difficult!
Great modern British food with friendly efficient staff at a good price. The building (an old lino factory) has been well-renovated. We enjoyed everything, but a special mention to all the main course dishes, the lamb, beef and pork were of great quality and cooked to perfection, along with the triple cooked chips.
First time to Lino, and went there with the kids for dinner. Great atmosphere although the menu is a little odd, so need to prepared to try different things. My wife and I had fish and it was delicious, whereas my kids had steak and it was quite tough and fatty.
Would definitely go again.
Seriously overpriced. Large space. Except if it’s busy for lunch it’s unlikely to survive.
A little light on the portions and a little slow on the delivery but it’s a great space and we did have a lovely evening overall.
Great staff and friendly environment.
A little bit hard to find, but well worth it. The staff were charming and the place has a great look and feel. I dined there on Saturday afternoon and the place was a bit empty and I was surprised that they were still serving a short brunch menu at 1330hrs and not offering full lunch. That said, the food was tasty. The barman is an expert when it comes to making cocktails. I had a couple of the best Martinis I've tasted in a very long time. Lunch for two with cocktails and two bottles of good wine came to just under £140. Really excellent value.
Lino is probably better for drinks, only. We booked a table for three on a Friday night. It was lively yet not crowded for a Friday night, and it was possible to have a conversation even if we sat close to the bar. We shared two burratas, which were very good, and were tempted by the risotto, which was ok, but felt short of expectations (it definitely lacked something). All in all, nice yet pricey place for what we got.
This is the local restaurant we have been waiting for. The food is good, the staff are very good, the environment is great, and the feeling of space is superb! My only complaint is that the nice blue sofa seating is too low for the tables! (or the tables are too high for the nice blue sofas!) The less nice round table area works better.
We are becoming regulars!
Nice place, prompt seating and not overly busy for a Friday night. Quite low key service, in pleasant surroundings, fun warehouse feel to layout. Small plates & desserts definitely worth it. Didn’t particularly rate the pork belly for main course but that may be me. Decent cocktail & wine list. Within a stone’s throw from St Paul’s, so may be pitching to business lunch market but can definitely see LINO as a good pit stop in for a relaxed cocktail & tapas. I would go there again but stick to the small plates ( all very yummy). Thanks for a lovely evening.
Great food great atmosphere friendly helpful staff and a good wine list.
Très bon et excellente ambiance. Le choix des vins est limité et assez cher.
It was absolutely fine. Food and staff were good. But nothing special or innovative to a number of other options in London. If you're near it's worth a visit but not for special occasions. The venue does have a spacious lofty feel which is nice.
Located away from any main drag, the restaurant looks very cool inside. Relaxed and airy, good service and a wine list that is very reasonable and interesting. Portion sizes quite small but food excellent.
Went on a Friday night. Place was quiet despite being told they were fully booked... it’s a huge space so felt a little empty but that meant we were able to talk. Food was exceptional and wine list had some unusual wines by glass and carafe. Cocktails were good. Service was knowledgeable and friendly.
We dined as a couple and it was a good experience overall. It’s an odd space, very high ceilings ; loads space to hang around standing; tables are lined up at the sides.
The food was ok, service nice. As expected from a restaurant of this price range.
Great new restaurant between Smithfield’s and St Paul’s.
Bit noisy and seating low to table
First customer on the official opening night. Beautiful place with a lovely ambience. Service was very attentive and warm.
There were moments of brilliance on the menu, like the battered oysters and a squash and artichoke lasagne to die for!
The fish dishes (mackerel and cod) do need some work as though they were objectively well cooked needed a bit more seasoning/depth of flavour.
Overall I really enjoyed my evening and would go back!
