Lion & Star
Good set menu and good choice of daily specials.Great portion size and well presented.
Nice ambience during lunchtime.
Good value for money.
Food was great, portions were for us a little over sized, not usually a bad thing but a lot went to waste. Overall had a great night.
Was here for a meal with friends. I had booked our table and was greeted and shown to our table immediately. Staff were very friendly and gave us ample time to look at the menu. We had the fish n chips and the portions were massive. Food was very tasty. Would revisit here again.
We ordered several different things off of the menu as there was seven of us. Two kids vegetable pasta meals that had absolutely no taste what so ever and Cajun chicken pasta which had such a bitter after taste that I had about 4 mouth fulls. Kids chicken nuggets and chips that the chips had been dipped in oil and straight back out, white and hard and chicken nuggets batter was mushy on the inside. Not a pleasant experience
Been a few times and never been disappointed, staff are lovely and courteous, my only complaint is I can't try desserts as portions are so big, defo great value for money
Staff were very friendly. The gentleman that welcomed us in was very informative and kind . Food made fresh and tastes incredible . Will definitely be back . Best meal I've ever had in a restaurant.
Great lunch, food lovely served by very friendly, accommodating staff, my friend was gluten free and the server was very helpful. All in all very good and will be back
As usual, great food and service.
Champions league final was on so it was a bit loud. However, after a couple it miraculously seemed to quiet down a bit 🍺🍾
Got a drink poured over me, my shirt has a stain I can’t get out. Wasn’t even offered a cloth to wipe it . Waiter didn’t even say sorry!! His response was.....these cocktail glasses are a nightmare! Food ok. Nothing special. Slow service. Waited ages for drinks
The waitress recommended the special which two of us and chose and it was very nice.
Consistently great food and service. Good value for money.
Fabulous good & service, gents in the bar couldn’t have been any better
Great food and service.
Lovely meal yet again. Few issues with home made fish fingers which got rectified without a problem. Got the tomahawk deal. Didnt come in the unual platter plate which took away the experience of it but it just tasted as nice as before. A number of crowds in which made it a bit noisier than usual but was still a good atmosphere and food amazing as always.
First time having dinner in Lion and Star .. food and service was fabulous.
Would definitely recommend to other friends and family.
Great value for money 👍
Can’t wait to return
Been a few times and always been fantastic food and great value. Unfortunately I was left unimpressed on sat lunchtime. Ordered baked pot and tuna. I had probably 2 spoonful of tuna. Had to eat half the potatoe dry as not enough to cover both halves . Very limited salad and no coleslaw as stated on menu. Did not complain as my friend gets embarrassed and her food was fab. Happy with everything else and would go back as this is the only time I've had an issue
Always good service, lovely staff and food always great
We went to the Lion and Star on Saturday night for a birthday meal and a couple of drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful, however after being seated and having our drinks order taken and brought to the table we were left for quite some time waiting to order food.
After approaching someone our food order was taken. The starters arrived and the “Indian Platter” was not as it is listed on the menu when we asked a staff member what was on the board she said she didn’t know and that it was probably because they had run out as they were so busy, which wasn’t apparent to us but I think they do takeaways now. The starters themselves were good portions and tasted nice despite this disappointment.
Two of the three mains were satisfactory, however a pasta dish that was ordered was very poorly presented and was undercooked. It also did not live up to its description on the menu. The staff were very helpful and asked if we would like to swap it, however the other two mains were already half eaten so we declined. A round of complimentary drinks were also offered but we said no as we were moving on for the evening.
I have been 4 or 5 times since the establishment opened and in all honesty there has always been some kind of issue, generally to do with food quality or wait times to be served/approached by staff. Due to this I will not attend the Lion and Star again. The staff are very helpful and do try but it’s not for me. It’s a shame as it could be a great place to eat/drink if they could get things right the first time.
Service was fantastic as was the food. Good cocktail selection and will definitely return
No atmosphere . Food average pub grub. Not a place to have a formal meal. Travelled from London to have lunch with family.
Felt it was a working man pub.
Lovely food. Lovely staff great banter. Would highly recommend
Really enjoyed our night. Was a last minute change of plan so decided to come here. Staff were so friendly and welcoming, as though we were their only customers. My friends ate food and said it was delicious. My friend and I both lost our Gran nearly a year ago and are going out to toast their memory and Lion and Star is defintiley where we are going.
Staff were helpful but some of the clientele were extremely dodgy. Made us feel really uncomfortable. No I don’t think we will be back
Luv it !!! Favourite place to visit. Fab service fab food fab staff
Fabulous place. Food is always good and great value. Love the daily cocktail and specials.
