Little Georgia -Barnsbury
Our Islington restaurant has a retro décor, featuring Soviet era artefacts and posters, and is the ideal destination to enjoy authentic Georgian cuisine in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Little Georgia Islington is licenced, and we offer a wide choice of Georgian wine, beer, and spirits, such as Chacha, known as “grape vodka”.
At Little Georgia, all our food is freshly prepared using the best locally – sourced ingredients to create a truly authentic taste of Georgia.
Food was awesome. Price was fair. Service was a bit slow, given the amount of customers at that day. Had a reservation but took about 30-40 minutes to sit down and have order taken.
Very good food as always. Not enough staff for a busy Saturday night, had to ask for menus, find someone to take our order, pay the bill etc.
First time I’ve been on a Saturday night... very noisy! Not a place for a romantic date.
The food is OK but nowhere near the food I ate in Georgia. Service polite but fairly unengaged. I didn’t dislike the overall experience, but I’m not planning to go back.
Food was excellent. Loved the Khinkali and khachapuri. Had a fantastic time.
The food is delicious! The portions are fairly large so be ready to share:)
We waited for starters around 25 minutes after ordering (it was not even half busy when we were there).
My husband's main meal arrived 10 minutes before mine, and my main, when it finally arrived, was not the right one.
I had to chase them for sauces we ordered, whilst food was getting cold (yes, we are one of those people who want to eat sauces with food, not after).
I assume that those 'small things' are considered to be normal for Little Georgia in Islington, as this situations were not anyhow acknowledged by the staff.
Overall, we did not really feel welcome there, though no one was actually rude to us.
We love Georgian food and will still try Little Georgia Hackney.
Dear Ekaterina, thank you for your feedback as it helps us to improve our services. We have investigated your case and our staff apologises for the delay. We did our best to fix the mistake caused by unusually busy hours during your visit. I regret you did not feel welcomed although our staff was polite and apologetic. As for the "samll things" you have mentioned, we do not consider any aspect of custormer services 'small' and we do our best to imporve our servces continiouly.
Delicious food and a nice restaurant ambience, with tables not too close together.
Lovely place, authentic food. Friendly service. The only thing is the heating was on too high (not sure if it was broken) it was really hot at least on the table we were sat. Apart from that, enjoyed the dinner would visit again.
That is not a good Georgian restaurant: the menu lacks some staples such as kharcho and satsivi, the quality of food is poor and the service is unfriendly and forgetful. Definitely do not recommend.
Dear Mila, Thank you for visiting Little Georgia and finding time to leave a feedbakc. The fact that you choose Kharcho and Satsivi, tells us that you tried Georgian food in Russia, as these two dishies are most popular in Russia. At Little Georgia we adapt menu to the local UK taste, let alone that Satsivi is New Year celebrational dish. It is not common dish at the restaurants in Georgia, having said that however, we can serve as a special request if ordered in advance.
Satisfying and good value Georgian food.
The restaurant was quite noisy on a Friday evening though and we were seating next to the entrance door so we got cold winds from outside every time people were getting in or out.
I preferred the experience at Hackney branch (where you can bring your own bottle).
After eating Georgian in Moscow for 3 years I was looking forward to eating similar food in London but it was quite average. Main courses were poor and service didn't make up for it. No coffee available, no desert available. Not unpleasant but luke warm at best. Will be looking for an alternative.
Dear Matt. Thank you for visiting Little Georgia and for the feedback. We always welcome constractive critisizm to improve our servies. We regret you did not find our service setisfing. I must say we are always appreised for warm and welcoming waiting staff, nevertheless we will look at the day of your visit to find out more. As for the the food, Georgian menu in Russia is adapted to the local taste and I am not surised you found different what we offer.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I recommend this place to everyone. The only downside is the 10% service charge, it makes the experience a bit too expensive, only affordable once every two weeks (dinner for two: 1 starter, a soup plus a main, no dessert, was £60)
Incredible food - especially the dumplings!
There was only 1 waiter in a VERY busy restaurant as he said the others were sick etc which meant service was very efficient but not too friendly, but it's such a good restaurant that we didn't mind too much.
Was a bit loud and then they started playing music towards the end which made it even louder
This was my third visit to Little Georgia within 2 weeks. The food is excellent. Order the meze salad selection and khachapuri and you will not be disappointed! For mains I have tried both the Tabaka poussin and khinkali dumplings and both were very tasty. However, the spices in the dumplings were very unusual for me and so I can see how some people could find the taste a bit overwhelming. For me, the only issue was that the meze for 4 people seemed very small - we were a group of 3 and when divided in 3, everyone got only a tiny bit of each salad. To be honest I could easily eat the 4 person meze with the khachapuri on my own, but that only demonstrates how delicious and moreish the food in Little Georgia is. I will definitely be back!
Food is delicious as it always is, but I wish that that a cheaper housewine was available as a night out can be expensive.
really delicious (filling!) food and great service
We were disappointed with the food - we have had lots of Georgian meals before and this was probably the worst. The only thing we liked was the aubergine salad.
Fantastic food and a lovely setting. We'll be back!
Lovely food, but small portions. would certainly go again and try different dishes as last time was most promising.
Place is nice but the best Georgian you can get in London.
Service was not great as I had to promptly ask to bring me a menu after waiting quite some time.
Even half empty they refused to give me a table which is not next to the entry door.
The food was good but I have tried better and cheaper in London.
Overall not a bad place but i would not come back.
Amazing food and great service, will definitely be coming back again soon.
Great food - great service. It’s a little hidden gem in Islington!
Excellent time, lovely place, little bit expensive. I recommend the white wine!
Lovely local restaurant - Georgian food is well worth a try if you've not yet tasted it!
With our companion not due to arrive for a while, and us hungry, we decided to get on with ordering wine and starters. Despite the lack of customers, they were busy on the phones, and it did take some time to get their attention - but they were attentive enough, and we were soon served our wine. We were to order so many bottles in the end that the staff wondered whether we'd realised! Yes, we assured them, we do want all of them.. and they got finished, too.
I had the same starter as before, and found it spicier than I remembered - but still lovely. One of my companions had cheesebread, which she declared delicious, and another - being hungrier than the rest of us - ordered two! One was chicken liver - but the chips proved the absolute sensation of the night, would you believe, with us ordering plate after plate. Gorgeous: it's ages since I had chips as good - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and as he remarked, the right size and thickness. And with a lovely dip.
Unfortunately, with all those chips, predictably, I did fill myself up a bit. So the beef stew I ordered for my main course, although tasty, was far too much for me. Tons of meat, and a bit salty to eat lots of. Ditto my hungry companion, who couldn't finish his - but he exclaimed that it was just like his granny used to make! and he hasn't had the like in 20 years. So he got that to take away - along with the last plate of chips. And said he'd be back. Another had poussin, which - interestingly - this time came with the sauce on the side.
The one who joined late shared some chips - I can't remember what she had for main, but it got finished. She was the only one to have dessert - and they turned out to have only one dessert! a pear tart, which came with a choice of sides. She chose double cream, which came in a dinky sherry glass. The chat and craic continued for hours - long past the two-hour, official booking time! As for advance booking - they were quite busy between 8 & 9 - better book!
A delicious foray into a new cuisine for me. The tables are well-spaced so even though the restaurant was full you didn't feel on top of other diners. (Although it was a bit on the loud side). Would definitely recommend the cheese bread starter - one of the most delicious things I have eaten in a long time! Three of us shared a large and that was a good amount (2 and 2/3 slices each) as it is quite rich!
Love the Adjaruli Khinkali and Moshushuli soko katmit
It used to be better, all dishes are spicy but flat. Their khinkalies were too salty.
Really good Georgian food with some addings from other Eastern european cuisins. Vine was decent, but very noisy and not suitable for jice chat with friends or family (at least on Friday night).
amazing food, amazing place and we love our waitresses, very friendly and nice girls
Great Georgian cousin, and wines. Very good service, nicely decorated place, with warm atmosphere!!
My favorite spot. Nice people, lovely atmosphere and amazing food and wine...
Cibo ottimo, ben cucinato e presentato. Servizio preciso e cordiale. Atmosfera rilassata e curata.
Lovely food and restaurant. Would definitely recommend!
The food was delicious and the service was very good. There was great atmosphere in the restaurant as well.
Good location, interesting food, nice stuff
Lots to improve on main courses, also in terms of aesthetics.
We had yet another wonderful meal at Little Georgia, this time for my partner's birthday. The food is always spectacular, and this time was every bit as good as it always is. The staff are friendly and even exchanged my wine free of charge after I had accidentally ordered the wrong one. Would recommend to anyone! The Meze starter and cheese bread is a must have and the dumplings are as good as any I've had.
We never actually ate here, which was a shame because I had heard good things about it. When we arrived (a Sunday night) there were two large parties in the restaurant, and the noise they created was pretty deafening. We ended up leaving as we couldn't actually have a conversation with each other.
Great restaurant with authentic selection of Georgian dishes and Georgian wine and very friendly service.
