Little Georgia -Barnsbury
Our Islington restaurant has a retro décor, featuring Soviet era artefacts and posters, and is the ideal destination to enjoy authentic Georgian cuisine in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Little Georgia Islington is licenced, and we offer a wide choice of Georgian wine, beer, and spirits, such as Chacha, known as “grape vodka”.
At Little Georgia, all our food is freshly prepared using the best locally – sourced ingredients to create a truly authentic taste of Georgia.
A really lovely cozy restaurant serving extraordinary food. Highly recommended either for a good romantic date, or just a nice time with friends.
Food was very average for the price we were paying, but also took a long time to arrive - we waited almost an hour between our starters and the mains. We had finished our wine in the meantime and ordered a top up which did not arrive before we finished our main course. The ambience was lovely though.
One of our favourites. Great meze starter and the dumplings were delicious as always. The service was lovely as usual.
Brilliant restaurant lovely food and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble perfect way to spend a special birthday. Thanks again
Love Georgian food and this place has the real thing. Very pleasant and good Georgian wines
Delicious food, great atmosphere, good service- highly recommend 👍
I would recommend Little Georgia to a friend, but I would have to warn them about the service time. Our food and drinks were absolutely delicious, and the staff were friendly and polite, but we were sat for over an hour before we got served our food, and other people around us who had arrived later than we did, were already on their second courses. I don't really know why this happened, and we didn't get an explanation, but we did get an apology from the lady who brought us some bread an hour into our visit. Even our drinks arrived only around 5 or 10 minutes before our food, so I can only assume they forgot we were there (we weren't hidden anywhere, but nevermind).
We very much enjoyed our visit, but hopefully if we come back again they will serve the food a bit quicker. Thank you!
The range of food on offer and the quality of the food was excellent. It was a shame that the member of staff did not tell us which dishes were not available until after we had made our choices. Also there was no tea or coffee available that evening because 'the machine had broken'. Despite this, the restaurant was constantly busy, the atmosphere was good and thoroughly we enjoyed our meal.
I went with two friends, we had the small khachapury (cheese bread baked for you, 20 minutes wait but it's worth it) and 2 tabaka (small whole chicken with chiken liver, pommegranate and new potatoes), and ajika (spice worth trying).
Excellent food, service and place. I will visit again.
The place is a little undiscovered gem! Food is amazing, very good balance of spicies and full of flavour. Once you try it you definitely go back again and again.
I’ve read the reviews and genuinly can’t understand complains about this place. Service is wonderful. We’ve been greated and seated promptly. Ordered food shortly and the waiting time is reasonable if you consider that food is being made freshly. It’s nothing like a fast food places so shouldn’t be complained regarding this matter.
Overall it’s an absolute feast for a tummy!
Great food and setting. Nice restaurant with good ambiance. Somewhat confrontational service. At first waiter informed us there was no dessert available. When querying as to why we were then offered Peach Pie. Attitude to soft drink availability was flippant. Only rescued by the generous takeaway bag as we left.
We had a great meal at Little Georgia. All the food was excellent, and service was friendly
This was one of my favourite places before the last visit. I had recommended this place to many people and have taken guests there. Last Friday night they rushed us out! They took our plates without asking if we are done or if we wanted more drinks, dessert or coffee. They brought our bill before we even ask for it! The bill was wrong. It was over charged but they corrected it.
They said Fridays and Saturdays they only allow 2 hrs to dine! They should have said that on their website.
Not sure if we go there anymore.
Great little place in Angel for authentic Georgian food. Service was brilliant and made an effort to find a good shop to get some wine to have at home.
What a nice restaurant with excellent food - we loved the food, the wine and the interior - a real treat. The only issue was that we had to wait awfully long for the food but they offered us something in between and made it up - these things happen. We will be back!
I loved the Kachapuri bread. However the main dish with beans and vegetables in vinegar didn't feel authentic Georgian. I may be mistaken. Was expecting something a bit different.
Dessert was quite good.
The khachapuri was delicious, and I enjoyed the beetroot salad too—I'd been expecting it to be thick with mayonnaise, but it was actually quite dry, and very garlicy. We tried two different poussin dishes, and mine was the tastiest chicken dish I recall having. However, afterwards I realised it was very heavy on the salt and I needed to drink tons of water. The wine I tried was disappointing for the price.
Tasty food, nice and cozy atmosphere, nice decor and lovely people.
Food and wine were really good. Thankyou so much ........................ .......
Georgian food and wine is amazing! there is nothing else to say about it! Gerogia is amazing!
The best wine in the world!!!
The food was very good although the menu descriptions didn't make it sound particularly appealing. But we liked the place and are planning to go again to try other dishes.
Very good food, the staff could be a little bit more friendly/accomodating.
Overall a good experience, the lamb kebab was a bit dry though, and the white wine was room temperature, which was not appreciated in the hot weather!
This place was amazing. It had an authentic feel, the food was super-tasty and the service top shelf. The food is very filling and it’s impossible to leave hungry. We’ll be going back to try more of the menu!
Lovely spot for authentic Georgian food, reasonably priced. Just wish there was more veggie options :)
A great little restaurant at an affordable price. The food is delicious; ensure that you try the cheesy bread. Atmosphere fitting for a date or for a group of friends to catch up, which was the majority of the customers. It was quite quiet at 7pm but quickly became busy, so booking is advisable.
The only downsides were the noise, which meant you had to raise your voice to be heard, and the service, which was rather slow. We had to request the bill three times before being able to pay.
However, this did not spoil what was a pleasant evening with food full of flavour. Certainly recommended.
Great atmosphere, very nice staff, and the food was very good, homemade and comforting. The wine list is very unusual with Georgian wines, the one we had was delicious! It was great to discover this nice restaurant in our area, I'll be back!
Lovely hidden gem. Food was phenomenal and wine was excellent too. Would recommend.
Food was awesome. Price was fair. Service was a bit slow, given the amount of customers at that day. Had a reservation but took about 30-40 minutes to sit down and have order taken.
Very good food as always. Not enough staff for a busy Saturday night, had to ask for menus, find someone to take our order, pay the bill etc.
First time I’ve been on a Saturday night... very noisy! Not a place for a romantic date.
The food is OK but nowhere near the food I ate in Georgia. Service polite but fairly unengaged. I didn’t dislike the overall experience, but I’m not planning to go back.
Food was excellent. Loved the Khinkali and khachapuri. Had a fantastic time.
The food is delicious! The portions are fairly large so be ready to share:)
We waited for starters around 25 minutes after ordering (it was not even half busy when we were there).
My husband's main meal arrived 10 minutes before mine, and my main, when it finally arrived, was not the right one.
I had to chase them for sauces we ordered, whilst food was getting cold (yes, we are one of those people who want to eat sauces with food, not after).
I assume that those 'small things' are considered to be normal for Little Georgia in Islington, as this situations were not anyhow acknowledged by the staff.
Overall, we did not really feel welcome there, though no one was actually rude to us.
We love Georgian food and will still try Little Georgia Hackney.
Dear Ekaterina, thank you for your feedback as it helps us to improve our services. We have investigated your case and our staff apologises for the delay. We did our best to fix the mistake caused by unusually busy hours during your visit. I regret you did not feel welcomed although our staff was polite and apologetic. As for the "samll things" you have mentioned, we do not consider any aspect of custormer services 'small' and we do our best to imporve our servces continiouly.
Delicious food and a nice restaurant ambience, with tables not too close together.
Lovely place, authentic food. Friendly service. The only thing is the heating was on too high (not sure if it was broken) it was really hot at least on the table we were sat. Apart from that, enjoyed the dinner would visit again.
That is not a good Georgian restaurant: the menu lacks some staples such as kharcho and satsivi, the quality of food is poor and the service is unfriendly and forgetful. Definitely do not recommend.
Dear Mila, Thank you for visiting Little Georgia and finding time to leave a feedbakc. The fact that you choose Kharcho and Satsivi, tells us that you tried Georgian food in Russia, as these two dishies are most popular in Russia. At Little Georgia we adapt menu to the local UK taste, let alone that Satsivi is New Year celebrational dish. It is not common dish at the restaurants in Georgia, having said that however, we can serve as a special request if ordered in advance.
Satisfying and good value Georgian food.
The restaurant was quite noisy on a Friday evening though and we were seating next to the entrance door so we got cold winds from outside every time people were getting in or out.
I preferred the experience at Hackney branch (where you can bring your own bottle).
After eating Georgian in Moscow for 3 years I was looking forward to eating similar food in London but it was quite average. Main courses were poor and service didn't make up for it. No coffee available, no desert available. Not unpleasant but luke warm at best. Will be looking for an alternative.
Dear Matt. Thank you for visiting Little Georgia and for the feedback. We always welcome constractive critisizm to improve our servies. We regret you did not find our service setisfing. I must say we are always appreised for warm and welcoming waiting staff, nevertheless we will look at the day of your visit to find out more. As for the the food, Georgian menu in Russia is adapted to the local taste and I am not surised you found different what we offer.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I recommend this place to everyone. The only downside is the 10% service charge, it makes the experience a bit too expensive, only affordable once every two weeks (dinner for two: 1 starter, a soup plus a main, no dessert, was £60)
