Would totally recommend this place. Staff and food were excellent. One of our best meals in Florence.

Excellent food and ambience

Exactly what I expected

So close to the Duomo it would be reasonable to expect a ‘tourist’ experience but it is quite the opposite!
Superb food, try the tagliata di manzo or the pork escalope in mushroom and truffles (so truffly!) and they are a level above anything else we had in Florence.
Combined with wonderful wines and quiet charming service it’s an example of the best of Italy - I wish they would open a restaurant near where we live in London

I visited Lo Scudo as a solo traveler and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful when it came to my inability to speak Italian. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere dreamy. Would absolutely visit again.

This is a fantastic restaurant with very friendly staff and great food and wines. We will happily eat there again and highly recommend it.

This is our favorite place in Florence. The people are great! The food is very good with a broad variety to cater to meat eaters and vegetarian alike. The vibe is great and there’s no better place to relax. Just a block for the Duomo puts it in the heart of everything. Don’t miss this place.

First night in Florence and what an amazing find. Service and food was absolutely amazing. We didn’t want to leave. Recommendations of the menu and wine was spot on. Night recommend this is a must stop.

Frederico and his staff were wonderful, informative and professional. The food was outstanding . The best meal we had in Florence! The pasta Bolognese was outstanding. The Florentine steak was wonderful. Great wine and food. A win, win. don’t miss it.

This place is amazing. The owner Francesco is professional and very personable. Our waiter Christian was funny, overall it was the perfect birthday meal. The pasta is homemade and the Sea Bass is outstanding. Please check this restaurant out, you will surely not be disappointed.

Last night in Florence....only issue was how warm the restaurant was. Other than that it was great! Even for a tourist part of town! Thank you!

Great service. Steak was a little over cooked but still a good meal and a unique blend of flavors. Eggplant parm was wonderful.

I wasn’t too impressed with the food here. It lacked flavor and was unauthentic. We had the truffle filet, grilled chicken and sea bass. The grilled chicken and asparagus was just sitting in butter. The sea bass and truffle filet was ok but did not impress.

For desert we had tiramisu, creme brûlée and cheesecake. The creme brûlée was over cooked (almost same texture as a scrambled egg). The cheesecake was dry tasking and old looking.

The only thing going well here was the wine and nice server.

A gem. If I had only one issue, it may be considered silly - they had no limes for a gin & tonic. Yes, I know - but lemons do not belong...

Lo Scudo was an excellent mid-range option for dinner. Every person we interacted with at the restaurant was warm and professional, service was prompt and friendly, and the food was excellent! It was fresh, tasty, and plenty for sharing. Would return, and recommend you try it out!

Food was outstanding. The Restaurant had a really good vibe with a relaxed atmosphere which I found very surprising considering it was so close to the Duomo. Lo Scudo is in an ideal location and frequented by locals in the main rather than just "walk-in tourists". There were enough diners within the restaurant to create a good atmosphere. The numbers also providing reassurance that the food and experience would not disappoint.
I also need to specifically mention the very hospitable welcome that we received, nothing was too much trouble, with very useful and helpful advice and information provided about each item on the varied menu.
The restaurant is laid out very well, enough room at each table so that you do not feel crowded, with the restaurant decorated in a wonderful traditional italian olde world style.
We attended for my wife's birthday evening, and the manager of the restaurant made her feel very special, providing here with a birthday treat (Panna cotta) with a couple of candles, nice touch.
All in all a lovely experience, made to feel very welcome and special, food and wine were excellent, fantastic quality and pretty good value for money for all the experience.
Would definitely love to return and enjoy another experience.

Great restaurant, great food

Cannot tell you enough how good this little gem is. The staff were amazing and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
We had a 3 course meal and every course was 100% quality.
I had the green and white fettuccini which was outstanding.
The freshly made warm chocolate cake was sublime and the wine was tremendous. We like it so much we came back again 2 days later.

This place is a real gem. Found it through opentable and me and my partner thought it was tremendous.
We had three courses and every course was sublime. ‘Best lasagne’ my girlfriend has ever had.
So much so we returned two days later.
Can not recommend this enough.

Everything was wonderful! The food was delicious, the waiters were friendly, attentive, and fun. The restaurant’s atmosphere was everything I expected from Florence; full of old world charm and authenticity. I would highly recommend Lo Scudo to anyone who has time for a well-cooked meal with local ingredients. I would’ve said fresh, but the prosciutto was aged to perfection!).

Wonderful, restaurant with attentive staff and owner. We were there for a special birthday and they made sure that we enjoyed every moment; even bringing out a special desert with candles. Everything on menu was delicious! Will definitely go back next trip to Florence.

I enjoyed meeting the owner and his personal interest in my dinner. He explained that his approach to food is keep the ingredients fresh and simple. You can tast the difference. He also suggested several excellent wines. This dinner was one of my highlights in Florence.
