Lobstar is one of our favorite local spots! The food, service, and ambiance is always excellent! My husband loves the filet with the truffle and parmesan fries or the mash potato and I usually have lobster or the linguine.
Amazing. Generous portions. Knowledgeable staff. Will go back
Fabulous food, service & ambience!
Staff were so welcoming will defo be back!
The tuna poke was divine
Absolutely Fabulous last night and everyone! The staff are amazing and looked after us incredibly well, couldn’t have done more for us.. cushions and blankets and even water for my friends flowers!
The place is tiny, but has a cool atmosphere. I was very excited to dine there because I do love seafood. The oysters I got were the biggest and freshest I've had in years - I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were really attentive, but without being overly in-your-face. The rest of the party enjoyed their starters of tuna poke and fried calamari - though having tried the calamari myself, I found them over-fried. For the mains most of us got the lobster roll and here is where my biggest disappointment lies: charging 30 quid for half a brioche bun with a little dusting of lobster and a portion of chips is just outrageous. I thought the presentation of the dish was poor and to be honest there was too much bread there in ratio to lobster (I am aware lobster is expensive, but I am sure there are ways to present it better: an open sandwich perhaps? Some cool funky salad of red chard, pickled fennel, samphire and some black caviar maybe?). I was very disappointed with that dish - the halibut that the other person got looked much better and if I return, I definitely will try something different. With regards to dessert, while it looked unreal, it was just OK - the flavours did not jump out at me, the coffee infused chocolate soup did not taste of coffee to me at all for example, and I paid a lot for basically some chocolate and whipped vanilla cream. Just not what I expected. As for the cheese board - had it been given to me, I would have sent it back as the cheeses were, in my opinion, not a good combination. HOWEVER, overall we had a pleasant time at Lobstar, with a huge emphasis of the positivity and attentiveness of the staff. Perhaps comments like this will help you improve - or hate me :)
We had a wonderful birthday meal in Lobstar, the food and service were perfect as usual. We had a couple of specials (scallop ceviche and rib eye), also tuna poke and cod (with parmesan and truffle fries).
Very lucky to have this fantastic restaurant so close, staff were masked and very safe feel.
Amazing food, we had such a lovely evening. Looking forward to booking again soon
Amazing as always! Felt very safe, faultless meal!
My partner and I visited Lobster on a Sunday evening, just out of locked-down. We had prawns, mussels and pan-fried scallops for starters, they were very tasty indeed. We had the lobster for the main course. It was delicious. I have to say that we noticed how well the staff were managing during the pandemic, when we arrived at our seats we were invited to sanitize our hands, servers were wearing masks properly and the place was spotless. I have to say, we felt very safe having dined there, it was clear that both management's and staff's message was one of comfort, exemplar service, security, and safe dining.
Absolutely amazing - staff was brilliant and I will definitely be returning!
VERY ENJOYABLE MEAL - a bit pricey for the lobster.
It’s so good to be back and to be able to enjoy their lovely food and excellent service once again
Very enjoyable. Great food. A bit tight for space (under current restrictions)
Couldn’t recommend it highly enough . Great food. Great ambiance.
Superb meal, as always
As always the food was delicious, especially Asian cooler oysters and the shared black sole. Love this! Staff are just so kind and friendly and unobtrusive but also attentive when required. It’sa lovely intimate setting and i will continue to eat here.
Fabulous food and service. Felt very safe also. Highly recommend
Absolutely fabulous. I could not fault anything. The food was delicious. Service was excellent. We cannot wait to return.
Wonderful food. Wonderful service.
Really lovely meal but we were cold sitting outside with no heaters. Tuna starter was incredible, will definitely be back!
Definitely recommend Lobstar and will comeback for some more mouthwatering and delicious seafood.
The outside ambience was unexpected but street view was amazing at night + the fleece blanket haha!
Overall food was great and service was excellent.. friendly and helpful staff.
Started with four sneaky naked oysters before our Calamari starters.
Then the Breaded Cod and parmesan and truffle chips, and Prawn Tagliatelle, paired with a medium bodied Spanish Rioja.
Dessert was the apple Tartin and two Baileys coffees.
The food was outstanding and delicious! 5 STAR
The service was excellent, 5 STAR and considering the restrictions, the food was definitely worth the cold weather. (throws available to the outdoor diners)
Amazing restaurant and one of the best we have been to for fish on the southside of Dublin.
Excellent food and dry pleasant service. Would recommend highly
The big downside was that, due to the COVID restrictions, we dined outside and the restaurant isn’t set up for outdoor dining in terms of windbreakers and outdoor heaters.
Everything else was really good, food was delicious and service was really good too
Food was amazing and menu is different enough to be special. Staff are lovely and friendly. Wine list is great. Great atmosphere. Will be returning.
Fabulous food as always. It was very noisy but not a lot you can do I understand. Didn’t take from a super food experience.
Highly recommend, the food is so tasty and the staff are incredible! Love going here!
Staff very efficient, helpful & friendly,
Very Covid friendly
Delicious food. Friendly staff, nice decor and ambiance. I thought that the portions were just a bit too small for the price that is charged.
I wouldn't normally eat in Monkstown but much easier now with cycle route along the coast.
Lovely meal, food was outstanding
Asian Cooler oysters amazing and I don’t even like oysters. I’m converted. Black sole to share amazing. I really like lobstar and will continue to go back. Lots of starter dishes to share if you didn’t feel like doing the typical three course meal
We had the perfect dinner. Food was fab. Wine was fab. Ambience was perfect. Must try
If you like lobster, the place to go! Not cheap but very tasty food and presentation. Also other fish and seafood and steaks available.
Lobstar is one of the beat restaurants I've been to.the food is always fantastic and the staff ate always smiling
Lovely restaurants with exceptional food, well worth a visit
One of our favourite restaurants in Dublin!!
Great quality of cooking & service.
Fab restaurant esp for fish lovers - the fabulously fresh oysters are a perfect start to the experience. Service is extremely friendly and attentive - u can never tell who owns the restaurant as all staff serve you as if it’s their own. We love this restaurant and feel very lucky to have Lobstar in our neighbourhood.
Great little place in a great location (heart of Monkstown) with delicious food and courteous, friendly service. We sat in front of the window looking outside and it was great to watch the village vibes while enjoying the atmosphere and food.
Just wanted to say thank you, my wife and I had the most amazing meal last night Oysters, Prawns and the black sole were the best ever.
Great to sit and talk to you both at the end
Thank you for making my wife’s birthday special
We will be back soon ! 5+
