Local Kitchen & Beer Bar
OpenTable held us a reservation for 7 PM, and after we drove half an hour to get there, we found the restaurant was closed (for Covid?). How does OpenTable confirm a reservation for a restaurant that’s not open? How do we get reimbursed for our time and travel costs?
Staff has great attitude and service is great. The menu is very limited and not the best tasting.
Excellent food great vibe
Was a great experience and the food was amazing! Would definitely go again!
Local Kitchen and Beer did a great job of social distancing and still making the experience feel totally normal and comfortable. It was a great experience, friendly staff and bartenders. The food was delicious. I love it there, good experience every time! I highly recommend!
Thank you for your review and sharing your experience with us for others to see, We hope to see you back soon.
We go there before Bandits games and the Theater. Always have great food and good service. The owner is there each time making sure everything is good. We have taken a number of people who have never been and they return now.
We went here for a late dinner on a Saturday night. We were happy to be seated right away. For a bar, it had lighting more like a restaurant, so not overly dark. The staff was very nice and helped us make a few menu choices. I enjoyed a great pale ale off of their extensive draft menu and my husband enjoyed a specialty drink. We ended up just eating appetizers, which more then filled our hungry appetite. We've had other beef on wick themed appetizers at other restaurants, and these were excellent. I can see someone not familiar with our local taste really enjoy these. We also had the poutine here, and again excellent. There was so much pork and the gravy was rich, flavorful and thick. I'd go back just for that. Next time we go, we have to make it past the appetizers!!
Very dissatisfied with our experience. Staff was unable to handle a full house of customers. Reservation allowed us a quick table, but that waa really the only positive. Several of the items on the menu were unavailable, items on the website menu were not listed in house, waited over 90 minutes for meal and had to leave before it was received due to event tickets. Noise level of kitchen dishes was disruptive to atmosphere. Waitress apologized every time she spoke to us and thanked us for being patient Really ruined a rare family night out for us- had nothing to eat before our show.
Food was great! Really good value and the food was delicious. Freshly made.
Show up early and leave extra time. It wasn’t speedy, it wasn’t slow. But worth the wait. We waited 45 minutes for the chicken sandwich and the hamburger. They were both great, just leave extra time.
Made reservation for our 5:00 dinner for 3 table a week in advance because we knew that there was a Sabre’s vs Toronto game that night and we had tickets to the final show of Jesus Christ Superstar at Shea’s Theater. We arrived timely, but had to wait about ten minutes past reservation time to be seated, another 5 minutes passed before the waitress came to take order for drinks only. Waited about 5 minutes for the drinks to be served but then another 5 minutes to take our meal order (it was now about 5:25). We let it be known that we had tickets for 7pm show (with about a 10 minute walk to the theater). We asked when our meal might be out at 5:55 and were advised the were “backed up in the kitchen” (note that now the Resturant was about half empty as most patrons had left for the hockey game or show), and we were told it would be out within 10 minutes. This was also the first time the waitress checked to see if we would like a Econ’s round of drinks. Well we waited not ten, but rather 25 more minutes for our meal to be served (it was now 6:20pm), at which time we requested our check be brought as soon as possible, again since we needed to now eat fast to get to the show before they would block our entrance due to the how starting. Fortunately our meals were not large and we were able to quickly eat them! We did however have to hurry out to get to the show in time.
Thankfully the food was very good and much enjoyed by all of us.
We will likely return again some time when we do not have to hurry our earl to get somewhere else, but never again prior to a show or a sports event. With all of the options available to us, we will fully explore those other options for the remainder of the theater season. Also note, we had patronized Local for all other Theater events previously, each time the delays got longer, so it is now time to look elsewhere.
Please Local, remember, timely service matters, we would love to return when you figure it out!
Neat place with great and tasty menu items
We stopped by for brunch because when looking for places to enjoy brunch they come up on Opentable. The brunch menu looked fantastic. Problem is when we got there we found out they didn’t do brunch. They also told us about half of the items weren’t available on the very small lunch menu. I have a couple tips. If you don’t serve brunch anymore take the menu off of you opentable account. It literally takes seconds! Then you won’t manage to annoy customers like myself who now won’t set foot in your restaurant/bar again. There are far too many options in Buffalo to waste time at a place like this. If they can’t take the time to update online profiles I wonder how many times their laziness effects their food??
Great food and beer selection. We were there in a group of 9 and got a large high top table. Everyone enjoyed their meals!
Quick, pleasant service. Excellent bison burgers and salads with house poppyseed dressing. We went there for dinner after a matinee performance at Shea’s Theater. It is within walking distance from the theater. We will go there again.
Excellent food and service. We have been before and decided to take people who had not been. They loved it. We are going back in a couple of weeks.
We had an amazing fish fry and cocktails. The staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place!!
This place never disappoints. We were having an early dinner before Auto show and I had the chicken bacon avo salad - delicious! And HUGE! Poppyseed dressing is perfect. Husband had a burger and fries- and it was cooked perfectly and the fries were enough to share. Waitress Courtney was pleasant and attentive. We love this place!
This restaurant has brunch advertised on their menu for Sunday’s. They did not serve brunch or anything of the sort. We were the only people in the restaurant. We ended up paying for our drinks and leaving. They truly need to update their website and listings. Very disappointing.
I am very sorry this has happened. I will notify the website company and open table to try and get the site updated. We have been trying to get them updated and unfortunately they have not been very responsive. Thank you for your feed back and making us aware the site has not been updated at this point. It looks like they took the brunch menu off but left the brunch next to the Sundays hours. We hope to get this done ASAP to avoid any confusion.
Delicious food for reasonable prices. Menu has some unique choices on it. Really enjoyed it.
Great atmosphere and the food was delicious!!!
The waitress was very nice but it got a little busy so we didn’t see her too much. Everything was awesome though- would definitely go back!
Everything we tried to order they “just” ran out of.
Perfect food great service
Great food and an amazing beer list! The menu has so many choices so there is something for everyone. We are from out of town so we were happy to find this gem on Chippewa St!
Great stop before a Shea's show with the kids. Bills game was on so it was a little nosier than usual. They need to add a changing table in the bathroom
Wanted to try casual dining in a local setting with family that was visiting from out of town. Found a creative menu in both drink and food selections. Pricing was very reasonable. Service for food and drinks was very prompt. Food portions were generous and everything had a homemade flair. Towards the end of our reservation, bar section became very busy and food seating is surrounding the bar area. Do not expect a quiet, intimate evening. Fun night, good food and drinks.
Great staff, friendly and efficient. Food is always excellent and prices are more than reasonable.
food was of good quality ,my burger was was overdone ,I asked for medium rare and got a well done burger ,the fries were excellent so overall it was good .It was loud so maybe waitress did not hear my order correctly
Good bar, but below average food.
Carved turkey was deli meat.
Good service.
Great service, great food, great drinks! Will definitely come again.
Great place, good selection of food.
Hubby and I enjoyed a weekday lunch. We had a reservation but it wasn’t too busy. The food came out REALLY fast and was hot. Fries were good, sandwiches had fresh ingredients and were grilled to buttery perfection, and the beer list was robust. Great service, too!
Local Kitchen had wonderful service with great food! Loved our waitress and the owner was fabulous! He was courteous and very attentive!!
Always a good selection of beer and the food was great. The pretzel with beer cheese is a must get!
Typical Buffalo food but not the best I have ever had. Chicken wings were not my style.
Fresh food with a local emphasis. Service was very good. Quality of food and taste was very good. We all enjoyed our meals.
We loved the local flair in the restaurant and ingredients. We enjoyed our food and will be back for sure!
Really great beer list, great food, service is typically pretty attentive. Parking is.. well it's downtown parking. All good stuff!
Service was very good and the food was fantastic. We will definitely go back again.
Enjoyed dinner at the Local Kitchen and Beer Bar before heading over to see Mean Girls at Shea's. Loved the almond crusted chicken strips over sweet potatoes, and would definitely order again!
We had a few specialty cocktails along with the ultimate chicken and beef on weck. Drinks were good, I think the drink menu mat have changed since last time bc I rem licking many more of the selections. Still not bad.though. food was good, service was ok despite being a slow night
