Somewhat disappointing but the food was good. Quite a funky decor and if you get "stuck" downstairs which you'll most likely be, it'll feel somewhat claustrophobic since it's low ceilings and small seating. The service was the main issue, it just was strange. Perhaps it was on an off night but we felt like it was rushed and the waitress kept making mistake, even breaking glasses at the table which shattered everywhere. Luckily no one was hurt but I think the restaurant should've at least sent dessert or an after dinner drink or at least offer coffee on the house for such a mistake. On the positive side, no one chewed on any broken glass!
This was a small place in Kensington near our Airbnb during a visit to London. We passed it many times and decided to give it a try for dinner. While we weren’t expecting a set menu, it exceeded all of our expectations. Every dish and service from start to finish was incredible. Would highly recommend for anyone in the area.
This is my favourite Italian restaurant in London. It never disappoints.
Ask for their dessert menu. Very well made. Very good food and atmosphere. Server was there whenever we needed.
We had dinner with my parents after a few months apart. The food was quite good and so was the ambience. Staff was friendly, quick and knowledgable. Price/performance was good.
Superb. Best Italian in London
A lovely meal, with great service. Ottomezzo is a reliable neighbor gem.
The veal chop was outstanding. Nice quiet off the beaten path restaurant. One of the best meals I had on my trip to London.
Proper Italian food and warm hospitality from the owner Emidio.
It was my father’s birthday and you made the experience wonderful!
cappachio of beef was the finest we have tasted.great Italian wine list
Lovely dinner out - great service and the food was delicious
We celebrated our friend’s birthday, and the whole experience was terrific! It is a gem of a place, and the owners are kind and make us feel like family every time we are there. I highly recommend it.
This is our 2nd time to Locando Ottomezzo and it is the best neighbour restaurant you could ask for. Great food, attentive service and a nice atmosphere.
It was good food and good wine. The wine recommendation was impressive as it was not expensive but very good. My lamb was excellent.
Rustic setting, film-themed decor, delicious food, charming service. Birthday candle accompanied by happy birthday played on vintage vinyl.
Locanda Otto Emezzo: 1st time there
I've been in many places in London comparable to this, just to name some: Macellaio south Kensington, Fenchurch sky garden, Barbecue St Paul's, Luna Rossa Notting Hill, Duck and Waffle Liverpool Street and so on.. all of them had something good enough to make me feel I'd like to go back there again or I wanted to suggest it to someone with the knowledge he won't be disappointed.
But this one had only the service, impeccable for a nice little every day un formal restaurant, location and venue. All of them dressed very well, nicely done as most of people would say, but other than that not much..
I had 2 courses, 1 "pasta/primo" dish of homemade pasta with shrimps and 1 "main/secondo" halibut with butter squash. None of them impressed me, and I am trying to be kind.
The halibut was simply wrong, the chef managed to ruin a tasty decent piece of fish, paring it with can chickpeas. Very disappointing.
My girlfriend had a meal based on meat dishes, she said they were good.
On the upside, the desserts were very tasty and properly made, they met my expectations there.
Obviously again well dressed, but that is part of the show, at least there was some substance.
We ended up paying £125 roughly, which isn't an unreasonable bill if you eat good food.
Overlall on a scale from 1 to 10, I'd say 6, a lot of potential, but still a lot to improve.
I understand we are in London and appearance is the first step to success, but then there is the second step and a third and so on.
Probably you can get a date with some make up on, but if it goes forward you better be preatty otherwise someone will regret the experience the next morning.
Suggestions for readers:
A very nice and cosy restaurant, where service is special and bespoke is Marianne in Notting Hill, little bit more pricy, but 100 times better under any aspect.
Used to be fabulous, sadly now quite the opposite. Bland food, small portions. No atmosphere/deserted. Manager very rude towards customer. Awful experience.
We were surprised to see the invoice with 12% service charge.
Very good food. I loved the homemade taglioloni with truffle.
As always the quality of the food is fantastic. The risotto in the parmesan crust is my absolute favorite but the rest of the menu never lets me down. Truffle tagliolini also amazing.
Service is always friendly and makes you feel like home.
We were in London for vacation staying near Hyde Park and this was a great authentic Italian spot to get away from the crowds and enjoy a quiet and delicious family meal. The service was great as well.
A very good meal, great service. However, there was, it appeared to be charge for a single diner. Not acceptable. Also, wine list VERY restricted. Tuscany and Piedmont. Needs a bit more thought. Food very tasty, well presented and of good quality.
this is one of our favourites and did not disappoint....it has actually become very good value....
Excellent food and great service
Been here a couple of time with business colleagues and impressed every time. Food is first class, customer experience is very good.
We never had the chance to had lunch at the restaurant because although we had a reservation for 2 made through Opentable some time ago, when we arrived there, the rude waitress told us that there was no table for us.
We asked them to check our names both at the cafe and the restaurant but nothing. So after showing them my confirmation from Opentable on my mobile nothing happened and we left the place and had a lovely lunch at The Ivy Kensignton, where the servicewas outstanding and the food delicious.
I would never go back to Locanda Ottomaezo! I hope you improve your service and your booking system for the future.
I was SO dissapointed. Besides, i was surprised for the lack of athmosphere. Not even low music... and not buzzy.
Perfect evening. Delicious food, charming service, gracious host, warm inviting atmosphere.
Great food. Amazing service. Different from the usual Italian food. Place is very trendy.
Always a treat!
Wow, we absolutely loved this place. No wonder it has such fab reviews. Great food, lovely staff. Not busy at all, no idea why, could have done with a little more atmosphere but the food absolutely won out!
Great food (beef carpaccio and risotto were delicious) and attentive service!
After many years of popping in to Ottoemezzo for breakfast pastries and coffee - they make the BEST pain au chocolat - my wife and I decided to try their lunch one Saturday. We were seated by the window (lovely!) however the wait staff was far from courteous - not once throughout the entire meal were we asked how things were going, how we liked our food, etc. They simply took our orders and delivered the food. I have met the chef on several occasions and he is very warm and friendly. It's a pity the other staff do not share the same level of customer care. I ordered the meat ragout pasta, which was quite tasty, and my wife had the pasta with clams. We both really enjoyed the home made pasta, however my wife's dish was extremely sandy. They served us some table bread which was warm and toasty and a real delight! We also tried the Tiramisu and it was lovely. I will continue to patronise the shop for their coffee and pastries, however it will likely be some time before we return for lunch, and when we do we'll try the pizzas instead.
The food was good but it was ruined by the very weird attitude of one of the waiters, who had a rude, abrupt manner and spent a lot of time staring at us from a couple of feet away while we had lunch.
At the end when I asked if service was included he said 'Well...', so I checked the bill and said 'oh yes, it is', and he said 'But it goes to the restaurant, not me', which I thought unprofessional and totally inappropriate given we had had very poor service from him.
The other waiter was nice but this man ruined it for us. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant which is a shame as the food was good.
Cote up the road is good food, cheaper, and has far better service.
Have eaten here before. All meals were disappointing. The food was below average. We felt the waiters just wanted to sell us the most expensive bottle of wine. Disappointing experience.
Excellent Italian food - especially the risotto in Parmesan rind! Love this place for the casual cafe upstairs and the lovely evening meals downstairs!
Very nice meal, lovely staff. Would recommend. My only criticism is the service charge which I think should not apply. If I receive good food and service, I would tip anyway but to be compelled to do it leaves a sour taste. I know it's London but I've only had this happen once before and I just don't agree with it.
A fantastic find!
Great food, wonderful service.
We will be back when we are next in that part of London
Risotto is very special
