The owners of Locanda Ottoemezzo Italian restaurant in London’s Kensington, just a few moments’ walk from the High Street, are film aficionados extraordinaire. In particular, their admiration of Federico Fellini’s masterpiece 8 ½ has inspired them to name their delightful restaurant after it and to decorate the interior with 8 1/2 – themed details. The general vibe of this charming and accomplished neighbourhood restaurant is vibrant and warm and full of colour with collectors’ details like rare LPs, books, instruments and a precious 1963 poster of the film. Yet there’s nothing gimmicky about Locanda Ottoemezzo. The perfect house risotto is always on the menu here served with a theatrical flourish from a rind of parmesan.

We had a a table for six downstairs, the service was wonderful , kind and funny waiters. The food was very good indeed. Only issue is we could not take our dog with us.

Staff were very helpful as I had accidentally booked the posh restaurant (with quite a limited menu but not ideal for picky eaters like myself) instead of the other restaurant which served pizzas. They also do a couple differen pasta and mains and lots of lovely starters (we had the italian board) so there's a lot of variety. Good veggie options. Food was lovely!

Warm welcome and excellent waiter. Food very good but portions very small....and I don't have a big appetite. Normally we don't have dessert but so glad we did...Best pannacotta ever! Will definitely be back.

A hidden gem. A small intimate restaurant that had a lovely ambience. Whilst where we were sat was a little cramped we still enjoyed the meal and the staff were very attentive (but not overly so). Great food that whilst a little expensive was worth it. My son (19) said that semifredo dessert was the best dessert he had ever had! Definitely worth a return visit when we are next in London. Make sure you book as a number of walk-ins were turned away.

Second visit to Licanda Otto Mezzo. Didn’t disappoint. Food and service were great. Led by Emidgio, lots of advice on food and drinks. The great ambience of the restaurant adds to the experience. Definitely will be going again.

A great find tucked away just off Kensington high street. Quirky surroundings and friendly service. The menu was explained in detail and with enthusiasm and the food was fantastic. Do not miss the porcini risotto served from a Parmesan wheel. Will definitely be back.

We love Locanda Ottoemezzo. Great, authentic Italian food with friendly and local atmosphere. Upstairs cafe is nice for a casual lunch, downstairs restaurant is nice for a great dinner. Overall as locals we love coming here for a coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Risotto served in a rind is so unique - a must-try! Plus I love the eggs. Plus I love the pasta. Plus my kids love the pizza...... I could go on!
