London Road Bar and Grill
Food was excellent, especially the cheesecake! Good family restaurant
We took our mum for her birthday dinner at Bar and Grill on Tuesday, the staff were amazing and moved our table when we asked if we could move which was great! Excellent service there!
We ordered food and the time of waiting for great not long at all to wait, one meal came out completely burnt and had to be returned but came out a lot better the second time around! When it came to paying the bill we paid and after paying realised the drinks we ordered were put on at full price and not within the set menu we ordered from! But apart from this it was a nice evening!
I wouldn’t recommend.
Food was ok nothing special. Steak was meant to be medium well came more rare than medium.
Seabass was tasteless.
Service... far away from good. Every request had to be repeated few times as they didn’t do it. Actually still waiting for ketchup.
Only positive we had a nice table but noise level was bad due to younsters. Groups of 17-19 yrs old.
I doubt restaurant has dress code.
Amazing food! Delicious cocktails! Excellent service... I’d highly recommend this place. I will definitely return :)
Food was amazing service was quick and friendly definitely gonna go back
Great service. Lots of lovely food, huge portions and cocktails were amazing.
Great meal as always 👌🏼
Great food and always very friendly staff the cocktails are great
Fantastic, simple and tasty food.
Overall this was a good experience. Although we did have to wait a while for a member of staff to notice that we had arrived. My son and I ordered steaks for our main course which were tender, well cooked and served in good time. My son is a bit of a steak connoisseur and he gave a thumbs up. The only criticism I would have is if you are going to put some green salad on the side at least put a decent amount or don’t bother. To drink I had a gin and tonic, unfortunately this had so much tonic and ice in it I couldn’t taste the gin. This could be improved on. Bearing in mind this is a bar and grill in East Grinstead High Street they did a pretty good job and we both left feeling satisfied and it’s not often I say that.
After visiting the website, we saw there was a set menu so decided to book a table. Upon arrival we were told there was no set menu available although it’s still advertised on website - annoying! However we decided to stay & just have a main course. The food was amazing - we had a mixed grill which had a great variety of meats & was well cooked, personally not keen on it being served on a wooden block as gets cold quickly. We also had a rump steak with a side of mac n cheese - slightly under cooked but it was delicious. The Mac n cheese is a generous side and worked so well with the steak. Looking forward to returning & hope the set menu is available next time.
Love this place, the people, the food, the pornstar cocktails. Always looked after!
Food was amazing with great cocktails and atmosphere great! Unfortunately the service was quite poor
love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.
Good food and service. Spoilt by being seated near the bar where it was loud with music and the constant rattling of cocktail shaker.
Lovely atmosphere and staff were all friendly and food was great
We just adore this venue for drinks, great food and great service mid week
Great food and atmosphere but service can be variable, although Lloyd was very good. However, they didn’t have any record of our Open Table booking, but luckily found us a table... Could’ve been a big issue as friends had driven for over 3 hours to visit!
Fantastic service and great, nicely priced food and cocktails as always.
Very noisy restaurant and bar. There's a lot of buzz about the place and the cocktails are nice, however the menu overall is fairly average.
Food is average at best.
Come here if you want to shout across the table to communicate, otherwise go somewhere else. Service is mixed, some of the staff are nice, some of the staff are more interested in chatting with their friends or tables of young ladies than serving you. 2 courses for two people and two cocktails each will cost you about £80.
Nice dinner overall. A bit noisy for me but I am 60!
Shame the card machine didn't work! Lucky for them I had enough cash on me.
We booked a table for 2 on Wednesday night - the place was steady, certainly not overcrowded or rowdy. Service was attentive and nothing too much trouble. We tried the steaks as supposedly best in East Grinstead - I had T-Bone and missus had Sirloin, would certainly recommend, as both were cooked to perfection. I only put 4* for ambience as we found the back end a little quiet so requested to be moved near the front, however this was just a preference not a complaint. Food was good quality, starters (chilli squid & goats cheese) were both decent size portions and tasted great. 2 courses were more than enough to fill us up, no room for dessert! The place is a little dearer than others, but for the quality I’d much rather pay the extra and will definitely be back again soon! Good job! 👍🏼
Firstly it has to be said that this is our ‘go to’ place for date night when we want great food, great drink, excellent ambience and attentive service.
However we will never go again on a Saturday night.
The reason - well when you pay over £150 for a meal you want to be seated in a ‘restaurant’ which has some separation from the general bar area. Not be totally squeezed about by a bunch of drunk obnoxious teenage-like women/girls gathered two deep around and adjoining table not eating, but slamming back cheap drinks and going into detail about who they have shagged recently whilst jumping in and out of the bifold windows grabbing guys off the street with the ‘oi you fu😫😫😫r’ language.
If I wanted that sort of ambience I would go to McDonalds.
Come on ‘management’ try to keep control of the situation - or you will lose high paying customers in favour of drunken teenagers.
Well and truly put off returning
Amazing food and service. Got very loud and rowdy as the night progressed but didn’t take away from the night
The main issue was that we ordered starters to share, followed by mains. We had to tell three different servers/waiters after an hour to get the the starters delivered. The reasons varied from each one but it took the edge of our evening. The food quality was excellent
First time going would definitely recommend it and go again. Fantastic and worth the money.
Kept waiting to be greeted and seated, then had to wait over an hour for our food and waiter got quite rude about it. No refund offered. Too noisy to have a conversation. Steaks could be improved with a choice of sauce. Refurbishment improvements were not obvious! Perhaps simply not enough staff to provide a decent service. A regrettable choice of venue for an important and rare family occasion. We'll not go there again.
Great food warm atmosphere but too noisy after the refurb, waiter got the order wrong because of the noise level
Been before and really enjoyed it. Last visit not so good. We didn't have a set waiter looking after us, the staff were all rather disjointed and our table wasn't set when we arrived. Starters were really nice, sadly one main not so much. Fillet steak that was very tough and chewy, certainly not what you would expect from a fillet. I'm not looking for fine dining, it's a fun restaurant/bar to eat in, I would say it's mainly the management of staff that needs to improve and the quality of their cut of fillet.
Great value good quality food. Excellent service, wonderful staff. Fantastic ambience, newly refurbished. Would recommend.
Fantastic service and great food that along with a fabulous atmosphere made for a great evening. Thank you London Bar & Grill!
Dined early Saturday evening prior to cinema visit! Speedy service , wide choice of food that suits everybody! Milkshakes are amazing , also mac and cheese scrumptious. This is a busy place but full of energy as and efficiently run.
This is the third time that we have been to London Road and it never fails to deliver.
The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to deliver a fantastic service, the food is incredible and the lamb cutlets are amazing.
The atmosphere is lively but not too noisy that you can’t hear what you are saying.
Overall this is a great place to go for any occasion and its nice to go somewhere that isnt a chain.
Very sadly I have to say that this place has really gone downhill. The food was dreadful, steaks all overdone, pasta very over cooked. Service was terrible. Noise level was so high that none of us could make ourselves heard to the waitress. The owners are nice people, but we won't be going back. It was supposed to be a special birthday event. Booked in advance, they didn't know we were coming as they hadn't looked it up on their booking info.
Great starters and steak. Bathtub gin cocktail highly recommended...
Up to standard as usual. Good food and drink. Looking forward to going back soon.
The food is consistently good (not sensational, but tasty and good sized portions). The decor is nice, ambience relaxed and informal. Bar staff and range of cocktails are great.
Unfortunately the standard of service lets London Road Bar and Grill down every time.
My partner and I have eaten here (it is a decent local option) 6+ times and we will come back again, however, the service lets this restaurant down from the moment you walk in the door to be hardly acknowledged and left waiting without a word, to the amount of time spent waiting for a first drink....then to give a food order...then ask for the missing parts of our meals (that never showed)....then waiting for the dessert menu.....then waiting for the bill. I like that you're not rushed out of the place to seat the next customers, but it's also not relaxing to constantly be looking over your shoulder trying to catch the eye of servers who look determined not to be seen (I watched all of the diners around me at different tables having the exact same struggle).
Wouldn't mind so much, if we were always there during the busy period (not the case - service is slow, even when the restaurant is near empty), or if service was delivered with an authentic smile and the feeling that we weren't inconveniencing the staff by being there. Sadly, greetings and service is lacklustre at best and you almost feel like apologising for bothering them sometimes.
For now, I would come back, because I want this place to do well. It has a lot of the ingredients for a good local evening out, but would appeal to management to put floor staff (not just the new ones - people who have been there since the start) through some serious hospitality training, before they do drive customers away.
great place, always good atmosphere and the food and staff are amazing.
there were 6 of us squashed onto a table better for 4 adults. The 1st drinks order was delayed. One meal was forgotten and so didn't come out with the rest. The chips were dry and the rest of food very average. Had to ask for coleslaw which should have come with the burger. Very noisy, so difficult to hear everyones conversation. Left early.
