Good food, only 1 waitress for the busy restaurant, she was doing her best with a smile & courteous, but management needs to employ more staff, as for 1 cocktail alone had to wait for 55mins. This is my 2nd visit, will go again. Noise level too high. Food is good. If the noise level, service could be improved restaurant will excellent!

We had a nice afternoon at Long Chim, the restaurant is pretty and I had a warm welcome from John the General Manager, who was also accommodating and attentive throughout. Our waitress wasn’t as warm and friendly as we’re used to, she seemed a bit icy and appeared to be going through the motions of the job (I’ve been in hospitality for many years so I can appreciate the basic levels of service) but I also know what excellent service should be. She wasn’t very helpful when asked for recommendations, kept attempting to take our plates before we were finished eating and there was no check back from her on how the main dishes were..if she had we could have flagged the issue with my main right away (or even when I asked for soy sauce) but again with the icy reception I decided to leave it. Nevertheless, we did have a top up drink between courses from another waiter who was nice enough so overall we had a nice time just catching up but eventually decided to skip dessert to see what’s around (to be fair there was only 2 dessert options). While paying the bill we decided to share feedback with John the GM as he seemed to be open to feedback; we mentioned my prawn noodle dish wasn’t a nice experience to eat, there was a strange after taste on the noodles that made it inedible to finish (even after I asked for soy sauce to help cover the taste) but it didn’t work. However, I did eat the prawns (as the issue was the noodles) also the prawn curry dish my friend had is delicious! John handled the feedback well, apologised and offered us a goodwill gesture (very kind and appreciated), we also spoke a bit and learned more about the new restaurant and it broke the icy experience. Overall, we had a decent afternoon and would return if there can be improvements like the FOH experience, the food for value/flavours aspect and maybe some light background music. This could 100% be a great place in the summer!

An excellent Thai lunch at David Thompson’s Long Chim in Soho. Authentic, spicy and very tasty. The set lunch menu at £25 is a bargain. Highly recommended.

Long Chim Rupert Street, London – More Heat Than Heart: offers a stylish setting, but the overall experience left us underwhelmed. The music was uncomfortably loud—so much so that it made conversation difficult, which may have been intentional but didn’t suit our evening. Three of us ordered chicken dishes that were mediocre and lacking depth. Only one dish delivered on flavour and spice. While the menu features plenty of spicy options, there’s a noticeable lack of flavourful dishes that don’t rely on chili burn. We expected more variety in Thai cuisine that offered complexity without overwhelming heat. The mango sticky rice was a highlight, but the tapioca dessert was heavy on corn and felt unbalanced. And to top it off—no coffee on offer. A very average experience overall.

Stunning starters and curry but extremely underwhelming noodles and prawns. Prawns were unseasoned and of poor quality.

Sadly the food was sub-par, and therefore the experience was a disappointment. Not a patch on Speedboat Bar.
