Food outstanding, service excellent. Would have given 5 stars but we found the wine to be over-priced.

The chefs table: Exceptional service both in front and back of house. An excellent standard of food along with a friendly and professional manner of personnel service. Observing the chef and his team hard at work preparing the fine cuisine was a real treat and an experience to remember. Thank you to all the staff who made us feel very welcome.

Dining at L'Ortolan is always a "special occasion" experience. The food has been exquisite every time we've visited. Service is attentive - not perfect, the odd disconnect but overall you are made to feel very welcome and valued. Portions are not huge, but by the time you factor in canapes, amuse bouche, delicious home baked breads and pre dessert (and the amazing cheese trolley if you have room) you finish the meal perfectly full. Good selection of spirits and wines - tried pinot noir gin for the first time, lovely! All in all - fabulous - cannot wait to go back.

We had the ten course Discovery menu with the standard wine flight ... Every dish was wonderfully prepared and the mixtures of taste and texture what you would expect from such a gret restaurant.

Food was excellent. Table was booked for 7 - so should have been first to be served. By 8 all we had was water and wine. 1st course arrived at 8.30. Lots of waiters with limited English but not serving us until later on. Courses then came almost too quick on one another.
Were seated in the conservatory. One table asked to have the radiators turned off as too hot. I had to ask for my jacket as too cold. Despite what they said the temperature control in the conservatory had not been sorted. Temperature and delayed start of serving our meal rather splot the evening.

A bit wet and cold. Food was quite good but waiters were told to explain plates, without being trained for it..

Decided it as time for for my wife and I to revisit L’ortolan for a an evening meal. As in many other occasions found the experience excellent although we both thought the portion sizes had reduced somewhat while the price seemed to have increased! Overall it was still a good experience?

Our group only had a starter and main rather than the multiple course.
4 different starters , all enjoyed and beautifully served.
We all had the beef , medium rare which was exquisite.
Certainly expensive but enjoyed . The Douro red was good too.

Food snd service is excellent, not s cheap restaurant but worth it for special occasions. Ambience is the thing to improve, music is more of doctors surgery than a restaurant.

Food was excellent, and whilst price is not the main driver, we though it was not quite as good value for money as other Michelin star establishments we’ve visited in the area.

The waiting staff were very difficult to understand when they described the meal’s components as none were native English speakers and all had very strong accents.

Ambiance was a little poor. The place could do with a facelift in the main dining room.

That said, food was absolutely top notch.

Food was exceptional. Really very good indeed. Service was good.
Place getting slightly tatty round edges, for instance the blinds in the reception room. Main area looks good, but if you get seated in the conservatory at night it is a bit grim. Quite dark, stark and unwelcoming. We asked to be moved which they happily did. Always request to be in the main dining room would be my recommendation. The staff were very efficient and accommodating and pleasant to talk with. The only negative is that they all seem to rush around slightly which doesn’t provide for a really relaxed atmosphere. The amazing food made up for these.

This is the second time we have been to L'Ortolan for lunch. We had the Menu Gourmand which was absolute delicious. All the flavors were distinct and the different courses very interesting. The only course we found slightly under whelming was the Halibut, which seemed bland although the Lobster Ravioli that went with it was lovely.

The staff are extremely helpful and very knowledgeable and compared to many Michelin starred restaurants, particularly in London not expensive. We look forward to our next meal at this lovely restaurant.

L’Ortolan’s staff are extremely attentive although difficult to understand at times. The ambience of the restraint get a little stayed and old fashioned at times. The food was of course of good quality but lacked the wow factor in taste and at times in presentation. In regards to value I have eaten at other Michelin Star restaurants where the food has the wow factor and costs half that of L’Ortolan.

It is many years since I last went to L'Ortolan and time has certainly not diminished its superb quality.
We had the Menu Gourmand which compared with many other tasting menus I've had was great.
Thoroughly recommend this great restaurant. Well worth the drive from London

We have just enjoyed an exceptional Chef's Table dining experience at L'Ortolan and cannot recommend it highly enough. The 10 courses were simply fantastic and full of flavour and cooked to perfection. From the time we arrived until the end of the evening the staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly. The kitchen was very busy but everything seemed totally under control and we enjoyed being able to watch the preparation of each course.
Overall an absolutely wonderful experience! We would certainly recommend this restaurant most strongly.

A classic Michelin-starred Dining experience, not for those faint of cheque-book!! Excellent attention to detail with a good briefing on each dish and each wine which makes this an experience to be remembered and enjoyed. At the same time the staff leave you alone to eat and drink without further unnecessary interruption. We thought the Duck pate was probably the best dish, though all the dishes were excellent and very tasty. Due to the cost, a special occasions only experience for us, but comes highly recommended.

Great tasting menu with good variety of flavours and not a single dud dish. Slight disappointment was the optional mocktail accompaniment which was a good idea but couldn’t quite match with the dishes and generally too sweet. Also appreciated the Tesla charging point in the parking area!
