Un poco más de limpieza en general
Overall ambience wins you over. It’s such a hidden gem! No complaints about the food, it just didn’t blow me away.
This is one of those places you must experience at least once! We first stumbled upon Los Caracoles 28 years ago, and were excited to return. It’s a classic with good reason - the food is good, excellent service, and an amazing, historic space.
Food was fine. However, the menu claimed that all prices include tax, but in the bill they added tax on top of that.
It was nice to eat at a restaurant I ate at 42 years ago, and find it essentially unchanged. Quirky decor, local charm, good food and service. I was not disappointed
I've eaten at Los Caracoles several times in the distant past (20+ years ago), and didn't know what to expect. I couldn't have been happier. Everything about it exceeded both my expectations and my memories. Worth going to just for the amazing snails, but don't stop there...every dish was superb!!!
Always great food and good service, lively place but you can have a normal conversation without shouting, all dishes were fab and didn’t have to wait too long
Delicious gazpacho, snails, and bouillabaisse. Flan and crema Catalan for dessert were fabulous. Service was exceptional , and musical entertainment topped off a lovely evening.
Fabulous restaurant in the gothic quarter of Barcelona. We had the snails as an appetizer and the roast chicken for our entrees. Both were exquisite and highly recommended. Seriously, probably the best roast chicken I’ve ever had. Great food with a fine dining ambiance.
Food was very good... especially the ham, clams/artichokes and fried squid for appetizers. Best entree at table was the black paella.
Servers were friendly, informative and shared a good sense of humor with our party.
Charming restaurant with authentic food in old part of city!
Excelente paella. Un lugar clasico en Barcelona al que vale la pena ir. Super recomendado
We visited Barcelona for a week and ate at numerous restaurants in the evening for dinner. Since this was a once in a lifetime trip, we tried to eat at “upscale” restaurants that would offer traditional Spanish food, even if it was pricier than other options. After some research and looking at ratings we decided on Los Caracoles (which got 4+ stars online). We arrived 25 minutes before our reservation at 7:30 and were seated immediately but had to wait about 15minutes for bread and water, and about 20+ for a very hurried and rushed waiter to take our order. The waiter was very good and knowledgeable about food allergies! The food came promptly. We ordered the 1kg steak, lobster paella, fried calamari/squid, and other seafood dishes. After eating at several other restaurants in Barcelona that week, this was by far the WORST. The lobster shell in the paella was soft and mushy (I could break open the shell with bare hands) and the meat was brown, mushy, and soggy. The shrimp were similarly soggy and mushy. The fried calamari were similar to fried frozen calamari you could get from the grocery store. The steak was a grease pit and came out medium rare when it was ordered medium well. During dinner we noticed that the diners were primarily American/tourists. We felt bad that they had been trapped into a similar dining experience.
Did not honor open table reservation. Was a complete waste and ended up sitting at the bar for an hour until they sat us. There were plenty of available tables. I think they just didn’t like Americans. It was really frustrating that they were sitting people without reservations before us even though they had arrived after us. They should not be on open table as they do not honor reservations.
Sehr authentisches, spanisches Restaurant in super Ambiente und lebhaftem auftreten
Very accommodating staff.
We would have loved this place rather than like if the wait staff didn't hit us up for a tip then complained at the amount. The food was very good. The service professional (exception mentioned), the food delicious. The prices were fair for the quality and quantity. The decor is homey and comfortable. A plus is that they're open all day if you're not into eating a later dinner. I'd recommend, just ignore the cash call.
They made us pay 3 pieces of bread, that we didn’t even eat
They seated us near the toilets
We had a private room which was probably as good as any dining experience could get. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, fantastic service. The Sangria was also a highlight.
Service was bad, food subpar and expensive for nothing
We had dinner at Los Caracoles on the 31st of December with a group of friends and left the place extremely happy!
Excellent service, good traditional food, decent wines and lovely decor.
It's touristy and overpriced but the food is good.
The last time I visited Los Caracoles was 34 years ago. This December, I visited again and had a wonderful experience.
I have changed a lot in 34 years but Los Caracoles hasn't. Walking in was like walking in to a memory. My husband and I shared a lovely meal and the service was outstanding. Thank you, Los Caracoles!
Wonderful spot for a quiet meal in an atmospheric setting.
Very much a tourist destination thanks to the guide books. Photos of celebrities who dined there throughout. Portions are plentiful. Service is friendly but not terribly helpful. Location is excellent and easy to find.
Wonderful atmosphere! Lots of cozy spaces - feels very Old world , very Barcelona
We ate here while visiting from Los Angeles and were so pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the food, service and overall experience we had. The house paella is a must and of course, all the tapas were amazing. Don’t forget to try their chicken which they have cooking at the front of the restaurant!
Returned after 42 year absence with friends- such a favorite of ours back then and we were not disappointed. Excellent roast chicken and snails, good Sangria and wine but what we came for was the Paella. Interestingly all 4 of us remembered it differently- more of a yellow color and saffron taste. Now it is a darker color without the saffron color/ taste but still delicious. Loaded with seafood and meat- overall really really good and service , just like we remembered was excellent. Hope it doesn’t take us another 42 years to go back.
I had been there years earlier when I was in Barcelona, and it was just as great as I remembered!
We were looking so forward to dining there I had been there for dinner 9 years Ago it was fantastic then .
We went the other night for an early reservation and were so disappointed with were they sat us it was awful . Super depressing for our anniversary dinner. We moved to another table. Restaurant was empty. Still awful. So we deceived to leave. Sorry 😐
Amazing experience! Highly recommended!
We were a party of six, every single one of us enjoyed the evening tremendously. Food and wine were good as always and we were very lucky to be waited on by a professional yet funny and jolly waiter. We will keep going back.
Amazing food and service, you must have the chicken they cook outside rotisserie style and the Black rice
After seeing good reviews we were excited to go, but a bit wary when we first arrived as service at reception and by the guy that showed us to our table (who didn't even talk to us!) was pretty standoffish and poor. We were then sat down very close to another couple (it was obviously a table for four that had been split apart a bit) in a very quiet part of the restaurant and I started to think we'd come to the wrong place and was apologising to my spouse as it wasn't looking good.
However, our waiter was brilliant, very friendly and good service and the food was delicious! As we sat there longer it filled up and a band came in and brought things to life a bit. Very tasty wine, good food and eventually good service after the initial people.
During our week in Barcelona we needed a change from the tapas and fish, so we reserved a spot at Los Caracoles. The signature snails were excellent, and the waiter assured us that there would be plenty to share. On the way in we walked through the kitchen, and we noticed the fine cuts of meat on the grill. The T Bone was prepared perfectly, more than enough for two people along with a side of assorted vegetables.
This restaurant surpassed my expectations. The food is a 10 out of 5!
good food very nice environment. very ideal for group gathering and dinner
