About

Historically Barangaroo was the home of the Cadigal people, traditional owners of the land. Aboriginal people made campsites located close to the shore especially during summer when fish and shellfish were the staple diet. Today, Barangaroo is the site of Sydney’s hottest urban renewal project.

Lotus Dining has set up camp in Barangaroo and Lotus chefs Chris Yan and Kenji Okuda (both of Billy Kwong fame) will continue the tradition of the original custodians with a strong seafood focused menu. Lotus Barangaroo features tanks of live fish and seafood in addition to the main menu and dumpling menu.

The marriage of cuisine and wine is important to sommelier Annette Lacey. It is this relationship compounded with the harbour side setting that inspired her white focused list. Aromatic light reds also have a place within the list that showcases a variety of interesting local and overseas producers.

We had the most amazing dinner at Lotus! We just got married and mentioned it to the team on booking and from the moment we arrived and were greeted to our waiter Nancy and the chef in the kitchen who made us a gorgeous dessert on the house! We just had the best time!! Thank you, we’ll be back for sure!

No longer our favourite restaurant. The dishes were not as good as previous visits. the salmon entree was soaked in too much soy. Fried King prawns were still raw. The plum duck, which was previously stunningly delicious, was pretty standard. The service was nice and friendly and the general ambiance was enjoyable.

The lady sommelier made our dining experience very enjoyable. She took good care of us and had great conversation! The waitstaff service was average, we had to try and get someones attention to order or ask anything, we weren't checked up on throughout our experience and the staff didn't at all seem overly friendly or wanting to help.

Firstly there wasn’t a table assigned to us
We were fit on a table of 4 (group of 5)
It was very windy and cold

Food is fantastic. Service is pretty good. Alcohol as with anywhere in the CBD is pretty much on the high side. Having said that - a great collection of wines available.

Excellent food, service and wine. The staff were very well informed and helped with food and wine
selection. The afternoon sun became annoying, we asked to change tables and we were quickly moved to another table out of the sun.

As a group of 4 we spent $280 on the smaller of the 2 banquets offered. We got to try a large range of food and every dish, apart from the fish was full of flavour.
We were full by the end of the meal but in hindsight we could have purchased full dishes for $280 and made our own banquet.
The banquet is not good value.
The desserts are sensational!
I would visit again, worth the visit to Barangaroo.

So cold *#%!!!
This is not a winter venue.
1 guest from tropical Singapore and another from Darwin. They couldn’t cope with outdoor dining in July. Not that there is any notification on the website Regarding outdoor dining and you will be out side.
Food was great maybe try in warmer months.

Lotus is a lovely "go to restaurant". It is a reliable restaurant with great food and service. Highly recommend the dumplings. It does get a bit cool on cold days but that is what happens in outdoor settings. Bring out all the heaters and lap blankets

Excellent food and great waiter
One lady was extremely rude to my colleague. He asked for chilli sauce and she used a bad tone saying ask your waiter. Then came back a few mins later and rudely dumped the chilli sauce infront of him. This behavior is extremely disappointing and insulting (given we were celebrating a team event and paid over $700) for what is usually exceptional service at lotus.

Superb dumplings and smoked salmon salad. Best I’ve ever had. Service was exceptional and our lovely waitress went out of her way to make sure we were happy.

Lotus Dining is amazing. Delicious food, attentive and helpful staff, gorgeous view and more.

Only one point for improvement. When paying the bill using credit card, please ask the guest first if they would prefer 'tap' or 'pin'. If the amount is over $100 a pin number is required. With our Corporate Credit Cards, if tapped for an amount over $100, the card is locked and cannot be used, even with pin number. Our host was unable to pay for the meal with her credit card and had to request another employee to pay. Quite embarrassing when you are entering your top client.

Otherwise, all was awesome.

Had high expectations but food was average and the service abysmal. Not rude just inattentive as they were so busy. Would walk off mid order. Forgot to bring our wine so we had to cancel as finished the meal by the time they came to serve it. Was my birthday lunch and just was mediocre. Quite disappointing.

We had the $69 banquet & would absolutely recommend this option. Tasty, well thought out banquet options & lots of food. Delicious from the oysters to the dessert, my highlight was the House Smoked Salmon Salad.

I went for a special dinner with my best friend who I rarely get to see. We're both fussy eaters and had lots of questions about the menu PLUS we were engrossed in our catch up conversations. Our waiter Angel was exceptional for the 3 1/2 hours we were there! He knew all about the menu, patiently answered our questions and every one of his food recommendations were AMAZING! Had lunch with work colleagues on Monday and were not disappointed. Staff from Lotus Barangaroo offer excellent service. We were not sure what to order as one of the colleagues is a vegetarian. We had good recommendations from wait staff. Fried rice with no egg was not a problem. Generous food portion. Extensive and reasonably priced menu which caters for vegan/vegetarian. We didn't have to wait long for the dishes to arrive... and they were beautifully cooked. We had prawns and chives dumplings for entrée, fried rice, Gung Po chicken ( just a tad on the spicy side ), stir fried spinach and steamed barramundi fillet. Will definitely return.

Had a fantastic lunch at Lotus Barangaroo, every dish was delicious and not to mention the wonderful cocktails and wine! The service was definitely the highlight, the staff were so attentive and very helpful with food suggestions. Special mention to the waiter Angel who gave us excellent service with a smile!

While the food was generally of very high quality, there were some issues with the service, e.g. spillage of both hot and cold beverages on two members of our party. The restaurant was also rather noisy and the table configuraton meant that it was difficult for all nine of us to engage with each other during lunch.

The reservations staff on the phone were helpful but overly strict with company policy, I feel. Especially considering we had booked a table for 11 people on a public holiday. I think allowances could have been made to allow us to bring a cake to our 21st dinner celebration. Our server on the night was fantastic and should be rewarded in kind. He helped us with the cake and ensured any food allergies were considered when preparing food. I wouldn't recommend going for a romantic or quiet conversation during vivid festival as there are large speakers right next to the tables.
