They were short staffed so it took long to order and receive drinks and our food. My drink was so watered down, I tasted no alcohol. The waitress took it off the bill. The food portions were laughable and my salmon was flavorless. So much for a restaurant week experience.
Outdoor brunch was pleasant and the wait staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. The menu is simple for brunch, egg dishes and pancakes or French toast with a few sides. That’s a good trade off for very reasonable prices. I will go back at least in warm weather.
Got seated on time. Sever never came to our table, but served three tables that were seated after us. Tables that were seated after us had already finished their first round of drinks and placed food orders, and no one had even come over to us. Tried and failed to flag down a server. After 30 minutes of waiting to talk to a server we decided to give the server for our area one last shot. She completely ignored us, so we decided to leave. Seems like a lovely place and will try to go again. Must have been an off day for that server.
Menu was limited due to Restaurant week but will go back to see what the atmosphere is like on a regular night
I was excited about the menu but everything was lackluster. The chicken milanese was dry and just a bunch of spinach tossed on top . The service and wait time was ridiculous. Our orders kept arriving late or issues like hair in the salad Brussel sprouts arriving without the cheese and bacon.
I was disappointed. I usually enjoy my restaurant week experiences.
Lobster was good, somewhat over priced for what it was but ok. Would probably not attend the next annual Lobster Dinner unless price returns back to the previous year price or thereabouts.
Loved the buffalo shrimp! Good service. Sat outside. Didn't like that a $13 drink was in plastic cup.
Everything was great - I highly recommend it especially for outdoor dining.
We didn’t end up eating there. The ambiance was terrible. It was hot and seemed as though there air conditioning was broken, but a poor staff member said her boss said it was working “fine.” I honestly feel terrible for anyone who had to work inside, but it was completely empty so hopefully they didn’t have to do too much.
They accomodated us in the last hour and services were amazing! Food was fresh and taste good as well!
Never again - cocktails were terrible, food was terrible, service.. terrible, beer list, below average. You couldn’t pay me to go back.
I very pleasant evening. We sat outside, and had our dog with us. Very friendly and accomdating staff!
We completely recognized that they were short staffed, but we had to ask for water several times and struggled to get drink refills. The food is fine, but over priced for what you get. The location is great and the ambiance is fine, just struggling with staff and general service. Probably won’t go back.
Overall pretty good experience. They seemed understaffed (like most places right now so we were pretty understanding), but it's hard to be patient when the staff is constantly behind and undertrained. Food was decent, but overall probably wouldn't go back for brunch.
Everyone seemed discombobulated when we got there but we were finally seated. Staff was great when they were around which wasn’t often. Food was excellent. Toward the end of our meal they turned the television on really loudly which was not good so we hurried up and left. There was AC inside which was excellent.
Food was very good. Only downfall was the slow service. Felt like it took forever to get our first round of drinks and for our food to eventually come out.
Mediocre food, rushed service, really nothing to write home about.
Cool ambiance inside. Restaurant week menu was good.
I use to go to lou birds and it was a bit more classy of a feel then when I recently went. The food was pretty good but I don’t think I would recommend or go back.
Our Reservation was for 6:30. My friend and I were catching up in the beginning of dinner, but then finally realized no waiter had checked in with us. We began trying to flag waiters down, finally got one guy's attention and finally put a drink order in around 7:10 (Yes 40 minutes later!) We put our food in at the same time hoping it would come out fast since we had already waited so long. A different waitress came up to us and explained to us it was supposed to be her table and not the guy we flagged down. How was that our fault? We don't need to be involved in your restaurant politics we just want to be served. At that point we were ready for another drink. We put in 2 of their passionfruit mojitos with the new waitress. She comes back with a Paloma and Plain Mojito? At that point we didn't even have the energy to fight her and honestly hoped it was a mix up and they would end up being free. Then our food came out. They brought my friends Salmon, but brought me a lobster roll when I had ordered Chicken Milanese. Instead of at least leaving the salmon when I told them the mistake, they took them both back and we then had to wait another 15 minutes for the correct food to come out. A manager or someone came up and apologized that they had missed us in the beginning but offered no form of compensation and honestly just kind of laughed and shrugged. When we got our check at the end not one thing was comped!!!! After all of that absolutely horrible service. She even charged us for 2 margaritas instead of the drinks we actually got. At that point it had been 2.5 hours and we just wanted to go home! Definitely don't recommend here. Maybe it is fine when there are no covid restrictions and it is just a night time bar. Definitely not a restaurant I would expect to be a part of Restaurant Week... They should not be allowed to participate next year.
Great vib, great service, great food!!
The noise level was high due to being outside. The food was excellent and the service friendly. We went during Philadelphia Restaurant Week but intended to return and sample their regular menu.
Service was abysmally slow. Food was pretty decent but definitely not worth the price. It took an hour for us to get our appetizers and we didn’t get our desserts until 2 hours into our dining experience. Ambiance was great though and the waitress was friendly. It was just the horribly slow service that makes it so I can’t recommend it.
The owner is very friendly and involved. We had a slight mix up, but he took good care of us after. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Nice spot near Rittenhouse Square; can seem myself returning next time I'm in the area.
Food was good when it arrived, but service was excruciatingly slow.
We ate outside and I am still not use to street noises - but everyone was friendly and made me feel welcomed
We had a lovely evening. We did not realize it was restaurant week which is a busy time for a restaurant
Very nice staff. Flavorful food. Hardworking folks. Enjoyed the dinner very much.
Sat for 35 minutes without having our order taken. Ended up walking out.
The food is tasty, but it takes forever to arrive!
The food is your classic elevated gastropub. The cocktails are fun, and the owner (Lou probably) served every table at least once. When we had an issue with our food (one of the sandwiches didn't have a good condiment), he was very receptive and grabbed us something tasty ASAP. Can't wait to come back for brunch!
Went for brunch. Chicken and waffles were simple but good. This place is more casual than I expected. Mimosa was huge, so that’s a plus. We were seated indoors, though, and there was no music playing and the room we were in was acting almost as a temporary storage room for the restaurant rather than a dining room. I know covid has totally turned some restaurants upside down, though. Seems like they’re reorganizing. Seems like a good place to grab a beer at the bar or a quick bite outside for a casual dinner.
The owner was amazing! He handled our long wait w grace. Then it went bad......we were given used cups they smelled of alcohol. The wait was long for food so we didn't bother to order drinks. Again....the owner was the saving grace. We will return to check it out again we believe in second chances.
As are all restaurants, Lou Birds was understaffed and we waited over an hour for our food. was just the 2 of us outdoors and it wasn't crowded.
The restaurant is nice we had great service. Food was basic brunch, Nothing great and memorable.
The food was tasty. My daughter and I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken coating was perfect. I think the taste could've used a little more seasoning, but I still enjoyed the dish. I would definitely return to try something else on the menu!
The meal was outstanding, the staff friendly, efficient and professional and the ambiance inviting. A wonderful time was had by all.
Good food. Server was nice.
