marinara, locatelli, imported linguini
Mushroom Toast Salad
sauteed mushrooms on grilled italian bread over gem lettuces tossed with roasted brussels sprout leaves, spice chickpeas, butternut squash and toasted pecans, drizzled with pomegranate vinaigrette
Went for birthday dinner with my husband. The ambiance upon entry was great. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall the food was made with high quality ingredients and fresh but truly lacks flavor or seasoning.
The cheese plate for appetizer was nice... the ground mustard and pickled veggies were enjoyable.
The burger was cooked well and had fresh ingredients but lacked any flavor or seasonings. Just very bland
The fish tacos looked great upon arrival... and mind you I was hungry and finished them. But also very bland. The were wet from the fresh salsa and the cod used lacked seasoning and flavor. Again it was very fresh as it fell apart but lacked flavor
Overall I want to try to give them another shot... maybe next just for breakfast
LO is a casual place that we love for breakfast & lunch. This was Valentines dinner & they put in the effort to decorate and had a fantastic guitarist-romantic! The food here is always great & runs the gamut from beef to seafood to vegan. The staff dressed up (more than most diners-comfy sweaters predominated, a few men in sport coats & women in pretty dresses) And the owner stopped by to make sure everything was fine. Scallops were amazing! A 5 course meal with coffee or tea for $70 on Valentines Day is a major bargain. Especially given the high quality of the ingredients and range of choices. And it’s BYOB.
We have been many times, but never before for Valentine's Day.. what a treat! 5 course meal, each one better than the last. A joy. Great service and atmosphere. Just wish it weren't 40+ minutes from home... I recommend it to all...
This dinner was a special Valentine's Day menu. All courses were scrumptious. The beet soup was extraordinary as were our entrees (one of us ordered scallops and one of us ordered the vegetarian tofu) and cheesecake. We drive nearly one hour to go to Lovin' Oven because their menu items as well as the atmosphere and service are that excellent. Thank you for yet another memorable, joyous meal.
It has been some time since we were to Lovin' Oven for dinner.
In the past, we enjoyed brunch there but were not wowed by dinner. But it was one of those nights when we did not feel like driving too far and so, we decided to give it another go. We are glad that we did.
One of us enjoyed a veggie based meal and while it was tasty, but it could have been better if the polenta was more firm and they had informed us of a change in one of the items we ordered. Specifically, I wish they would have told us that the arugula that was in the description was not available and would be substituted with spinach. Mind you, while we may like spinach it is disappointing when you wanted the taste of arugula. The other person in are party is quite a fussy person. He liked his Bulgogi and he who says things are 'OK" said this was "good."
Other than the food, the servers are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is very 1970's Moosewood hippie cafe (which I love). The deserts are outstanding. Perhaps they can do something about the seats as they are really hard on your bottom unless you have lots of padding.
We will be back to try some other items on their new menu.
We have been going to Lovin’ Oven for years! Love the place! Literally ate breakfast there last Monday and made the reservation for dinner with a group of eight the following Saturday. We didn’t realize it was restaurant week, what a great deal! We are usually there for breakfast but every now and then, we’ll come for dinner. I can’t wait to sign up for a class!!!!
Always enjoy when we get to Lovin Oven, the staff is so friendly, food is terrific and I love the eclectic decor. We met up with another couple who had never been and the 4 of us had a nice evening with good food, service, and we weren't rushed at all. We also attended during restaurant week, which we didn't realize, and were able to get a great deal on our meals.
We always enjoy our time here.
We love Lovin’ Oven! Usually we enjoy breakfast & brunch here, but wanted to visit for a special Frenchtown Restaurant Week menu. The 3-course fixed price menu did not disappoint! My husband enjoyed the kale Caesar, Baja fish tacos and almond bread pudding. I loved my beet salad that was perfectly dressed, Angel’s bolognese and peanut butter pie. SO GOOD. OMG the desserts were heavenly! Service was friendly, quick & attentive. Super nice date night <3
It was a lovely New Year’s location complete with gypsy jazz band and festive ambience and great meal. Special occasion or not, it’s always a great experience.
The food was delicious - always is! Decorations and music were lovely for a New Years Eve Celebration!
So many people are regulars, that if feels like a friendly gathering with excellent food. Ambience on New Years Eve was festive and the music was fun.
Great spot, great food! Eggplant meatballs are fabulous!
This restaurant experience was disappointing in spite of the beautiful living plant wall fixture and the pleasant service. Although the $15 cheese board consisted of 2 thin slices of a very good cheddar cheese plus accoutrements of no distinction, it was not worth anywhere near the price. The generous portion of pasta Bolognese was over-sauced with a sauce bearing little resemblance to the complex authentic recipe and the pasta was over cooked. The polenta dish consisted of a hot and nicely crisped polenta cake topped with roasted tomatoes with a balsamic reduction that didn’t seem to be relate to the polenta. Buried in sautéed kale with little flavor were a few pieces of mushroom, but that combo was cold on the plate. The desserts were much better. The key lime pie was tasty and the serving adequate. The chocolate caramel tart was disappointing. The chocolate layer was rich and generous but not balanced by enough of a caramel layer. The caramel appeared to have leaked out from the cut edge of the tart so the chocolate crumb crust just added even more chocolate.
The Lovin' Oven is one of our favorite places! Warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Terrific food, and always consistent, like an old friend!
Every meal here is exceptional served with care that is attentive and prompt. Entrees are always unique and delicious. Cookies for dessert are a great treat instead of a big dessert.
Even though there are multiple vegan options on the menu, our vegan daughter wanted something else and they cheerfully modified one of the specials by substituting vegetables for seafood.
Cute farm to table restaurant. Not a big selection but what we chose was delicious.
Charming restaurant. Glad we made a pre-ArtYard Event-reservation or might not have had a table! Popular for good reason. Varied menu (something for everyone, veg, non-veg, gf, vegan). The Potato-Cabbage latkes, to die for. The "as seen on TV" chocolate dessert, also to die for. Lovely staff, too.
We had an amazing time and such a delicious meal. Our appetizer was a fried artichoke that was amazing. And the key line pie for dessert was wonderful. A great place for a really nice meal. We booked our reservation quickly and were seated right away as we got there. Want to recomend but don't want others to find it and get our spot!!
Lovely little BYOB. Great innovative food and a niceatmosphere, not formal or stuffy. Great deserts.
Dinner was delicious. Everyone had something different and all four dishes were amazing. Save room for dessert you will want one. Our server was cheerful, helpful and courteous. We cannot wait to return.
We enjoyed the muscle appetizer and fish tacos as well as linger tart. Locally sourced! Attentive service.
Limited menu but everything was fresh and delicious. We will return.
Great place. Always enjoy going. Brought friends from out-of-state who never had been before. Highly recommend.
The food was great and it is such a nice atmosphere. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. It was quiet and a great atmosphere for catching up with family and friends.
This is a very good test with good seevice. This was first time going and i thoroughly enjoyed myself. Next time I'm going for brunch.
This little hippie-style restaurant is just adorable. Great fresh and local ingredients, unique menu items. Its's our local go-to place for a weekend brunch!!
As always the staff are wonderful and the food is excellent. You wait for your meal because it takes time to prepare for each meal ordered. We’ve tried many things on the menu for brunch and dinner and never we’re disappointed. It’s worth the hour it takes to get here! A great drive followed by a rewarding meal.
Always a consistent well displayed and tasty meal!!
Great space in Frenchtown. High quality good, well presented and delicious. Both indoor and outdoor options. Leave room for exquisite dessert.
Great place. It has a living green plant wall. It has an up beat, funky vibe. The salads are great! Our waitress, Rihanna was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food is farm to table and has a nice presentation. Try the sweet potato biscuits! They awesome!
Amazing mushroom tart and salad with blueberries and peaches in a lemony vinaigrette. The chicken and mashed potatoes were tasty! The gnocchi in a lemon cream sauce with peas and asparagus was so light, heavenly, it was wonderful! We finished with coffee and an amazing raspberry Linzer Tart !
We love the food but on Saturday Night the staff was not the usual staff and the service was extremely slow. Not sure what was happening int he kitchen but It took 45 minutes o get our salads and in total, we were done in two hours.
we were not in a hurry, but two hrs for a burger and salad seems a bit silly. We have to believe it was an off night for the kitchen, based on what saw in back there, and will be back in the future based on past experiences.
I met up with a friend and spent almost 3 hours eating and catching up. The staff was wonderful and patient. The food was amazing. We both took some desserts to go; they are made there, and we were not disappointed. I would go back again and again. Thank you!
It was a birthday w the kids, it was smashing!
I was expecting great things from what I had heard, but was very disappointed. They were out of a number of menu items, the service was super slow and food not so great. I had high expectations for the green tacos, but they were not so great and overpriced. 3 tacos each with just a few chickpeas with no sides and cost $17 for tacos.
Accommodated a last minute party of 11 for a special anniversary. The staff are great; fun and attentive to our needs. Every time we go we have the same experience. It’s why we keep driving over an hour to get there!
Our dinner was delicious and they were very tolerant of our table of energetic children. Service was friendly and accommodating. 10/10 will go again!
