Absolutely excellent and authentic Lucknavi food. Quite different to the typical Punjabi food found in London, and I was very pleased with the service and overall experience. Good value for Mayfair too!
well made food and cocktails, friendly staff and comfortable setting
Delicious food, and setting is very relaxed with some nice decorative touches. Despite the pre-theatre timing of our dinner we did not feel rushed at all.
Pro： decent food, decent vib
Con: a little bit pricy
Mains were not authentic , starters were very good.
Lovely atmosphere, great service and sensational food
I visited Lucknow 49 with my partner. We booked two weeks in advance and arrived there perfectly on time. As we entered and introduced ourselves to a waiter, he welcomed us and pointed at a comfy and discreet table. However, as we were about to take our seats, the manager redirected us to another smaller table (for no clear reason, since the restaurant was half empty), next to another couple, which we had to clean-up ourselves from previous customers' leftovers.
We ordered one cocktail, one starter and one main each. Cocktails and starters were fine, but had to wait for ~ 45 mins before our main was served, while other customers who arrived later than us were served promptly and before us. We wanted to order a dessert, but after having spent almost 2 hrs for a two-course meal we decided that time to pay and leave had come.
Ironically, after having spent more time at Lucknow 49 that in any other London restaurant, I received a notification from OpenTable saying that we didn't show up, and had (to spend more of my precious time) to explain that we did attend our reservation on time instead.
Great atomosphere but the food was a little mixed and the service was very poor. They were not attentive at all throughout the evening, and my pet hate, starters arrived before the drinks we ordered.
It is a real shame as Lucknow has the potential to be a great restaurant if they improve the consistency of food and refine the service
Good food that didn’t try too hard to be Trendy or fusion. Chaat lacked crunch but the raan masala was good. Nice decor and pleasant staff.
Simply the best! We loved our experience at Lucknow 49!
Can't wait to bring our friends
Great service- delicious food
Gilawati kebabs were really delicious. As close to the authentic Tunday kebabs one could get in London. Suggestion to the management: do introduce rumali roti in the Breads menu which goes really well with kebabs. The biryani could be spiced up further. Great selection of cocktails. All in all, great place for an authentic awadhi cuisine.
Staff were very attentive
The food was lovely but it’s not your typical Indian so be open to milder flavours, presented lovely.
The restaurant itself is beautiful.
Overall a pleasant experience and always nice to try a bit more upmarket as I’m an east end girl 😋
Very nice indeed!
It was an Ok restaurant. The chicken starter was amazing. The lamb kebab was not good. It was like a big lumpy sausage. Biryani was ok. Some pieces of lamb were really really overcooked and it was unappetizing. The chicken was amazing though and the vegetarian stuff was not bad either. Service was good and so was the decor. I didn’t feel like it was worth it for that price.
Really good food. Unfortunately the service was really poor. They kept on pushing on buying more drinks and were interrupting us constantly during conversations.
Great food and drinks and excellent service. Fun decor.
Extremely limited menu options w.r.t to both food and drinks
Third visit to the restaurant. We tried the vegetarian dishes GOBI MUSSALLAM and DUM BHINDI they were both fantastic dishes that I would surely recommend.
We ordered biryani which was quite cold and apparently stale. Some dishes were good, like the gilafi naan and butter chicken, but the stale/cold food made me question the freshness of the overall meal. Not impressed. Also not being easy on the pocket does'nt help considering there are much better indian places around the area which provide much better food at similar price points
Lovely food and the really friendly service. A nice twist on Indian food. I would recommend this place to everyone!
Good food but I have found the starters much more interesting than the main courses.
Service was great, attentive and friendly, although the restaurant was a bit empty so that might have helped.
Nice decor of the room.
A good option for Mayfair, rightly priced for location and the style of the menu
The food was amazing! Really great Indian food. The decor was very cute and the servers were extremely friendly
As a Lucknow-ite, was really forward to my visit to the restaurant and I was not let down. Dhruv Mittal and his team were courteous and the food was delicious, and they are bang on with the amount served. Will definitely visit again!
Literally the best Indian food I’ve had in London in the 5 yrs of living here. Well done for bringing the best of Lucknow!
Best meal I’ve had this year!
Absolutely brilliant! What a find. The biriyani is to die for...
Disappointed with the intensity of the flavours, the bryiani could have been so much more. The starter dal bread was soggy. In London we are spoilt with Dishoom and this didn’t compete.
It's a nice restaurant to go with friends for a quite not to noise dinner.
ZAFFRANI MURGH TIKKA and TAAR GOSHT were nice and tasty. However, I wasn't impressed with the GALAWAT KAWAB it crumbled on the plate before even being able to get a chance to eat it.
a welcome change to most of the Indian food easily found in London. Can't wait to go back.
We had a strange experience, we walked in at 6pm to mostly empty resturant (only 2 tables occupied), was told there were no tables without reservations. Went outside and booked on Opentable (all times available), walked backed in and was told a table cancelled and we were seated. When we finished the restuarant was still empty.
Eater named them #4 on the June 2019 hottest new places in London list. I see why. FANTASTIC take on northern Indian food.
Promising start but ....
The starters were delicious but the mains were a bit of a disappointment. The desserts were tiny portions too and generally it was a bit over priced. It's in an expensive area of London so the prices weren't a shock just not great value for money. The indian food market is well catered for and there are loads better than this - Benares, Dishoom, Tayyabs.....
Also, my mum is from Lucknow and she didnt say it was a fair reflection of the area. Sorry.
Great food packed with delicious flavors. We were a party of four and shared different plates which all tasted wonderful. The service was excellent and the ambiance lively and trendy.
Excellent service, very friendly and almost homely in style. Food tasted great, but portion wise was much smaller than local competitors and given the limited menu, it was a bit surprising. However, overall it was a very good experience.
We loved being at Lucknow!
The atmosphere is so cozy and the food ist fantastic! We were welcomed very friendly and service was on point!
Will return anytime when we‘re back in London!
Outstanding food. Brilliant flavours. Attentive service. The portions are a tad on the smaller side but well worth it for the special occasion!! The flavours are very unique. Sublime.
Outstanding meal at a great value, with friendly and accommodating staff.
Like eating at home, if your home is in Lucknow. So comfortable and such good food.
