Lupins Ratings and Reviews
Lupins is perfect for a couple or small group who enjoy sharing small plates. The food is unbelievably good. The perfect Saturday lunch - every single dish was unusual but delightful. Highlights include the red mullet ceviche, the mushroom and gorgonzola croquettes and pork belly with israeli couscous.
Small upstairs room which was lovely and bright on a winters day. Tables for 2 are pretty close to each other. Small plates and the ones we chose were ALL delicious. Good wine and great craft beer. Slight wait at one point for our final 'main' plates. Service from Alice was excellent and she really knew her stuff. Overall a terrific lunch and I would go back.
Regular visitor to London from Scotland. Always like to try somewhere new. Had read some good reviews, so decided to book Lupins. I have to say, it was one of the best meals-ever ! The attention to detail & the balance of flavours were above most dishes I've tasted in a small plate restaurant. Highlights, firstly bread & brown butter...sounds simple ? Not at all - the bread sourced from the bakery in the same premises as the restaurant, two different types, served with a sublime caramelised brown butter..Devine ! The crab Thermidor, extremely flavourful & the lamb (a thoughtful contribution to charity within the cost). The service was keen & there seemed to be a real interest in the customer enjoying their experience to the maximum (novel!). Thanks to the lady who recommended a lovely chilled red wine with the lamb dish- gentle persuasion, now I'm converted to chilled red, thank you.
Absolutely love the simplicity of the food and super taste. Each dish is different and beautifully sourced. The tiny kitchen is a wonder to see in action and the head chef is a master of calm. Great food.
A must visit place. It’s small so book or expect to be disappointed if you attempt a walk in. It’s also very hot inside the restaurant so be prepared for that.
I had read several reviews before booking and I was delighted that Lupin did not disappoint. Myself and four other girlfriends had two plates each which we shared. The ranges if plates ranged from crab thermador, Octopus, sardines, Springs onions fired in polenta, tortellini with venison, there were more but I cannot remember the names of the dishes. This is a seriously special restaurant with only a small amount of covers. Flavours on each dish were subtle and did not over power the main ingredient. The desserts were out of this world. We had chocolate mousse, dark and rich and very decadent, and figs with balsamic and cream. Loved it all and cannot wait to go back again .
Lupins is a fantastic, light, airy space just a short walk from London Bridge: offering a seasonal menu of tasting plates to share, the beautifully crafted dishes are delicious and well priced. It’s a perfect venue for a long lunch with friends, and the dishes are regularly updated. I had Burrata and Pumpkin, Croquettas, Venison Capeletti, Cornish Crab Thermidor, Steak Tartare, Anchovy Crostini, and the chocolate mousse to finish all washed down with a thoughtfully selected red wine.
The service was fantastic and my friends and I had a chat with one of the proprietors at the end: Tasha’s passion for making “food I’d like to eat!” Shines through her menu.
Three of us ate, and had a very hard time deciding what we had liked best, purely because everything was so gorgeous. Tyke specials were slightly less special but too marks esp to the burrata and crab thermidor. The wine was great and I thought good value. The staff were lovely. Can't wait to go back.
The food was show-off amazing. Trouble was over ordering and with each dish being quite rich we felt pretty stuffed. Would recommend 3 mains dishes between two - there were 4 of us and we had one of every dish on the taster menu (tapas style), bar the squid (too intelligent to eat) and one of the starters. No wonder we over-ate.
Love this place. Dined there for a third time and once again food was amazing. Really interesting and surprising combinations of flavours, brilliantly cooked and presented. Plates arrived in too quick succession but slowed down when we asked. Grouse and octopus were particularly good this time. Will definitely be back!
Fabulous and clever food in a casual but well presented setting. The waiting staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It more than lived up to the reviews I have read. I was impressed by the area it is in, very buzzy and lively and just a short walk from London Bridge station.
The menu at Lupins was very interesting and I was concerned that it would not suit all 4 of us. However it was delicious and we will try to go again. The service and ambience was very friendly with explanations of the menu and food. It is a small dining area and booking is essential. It is not easy to find-it is at the beginning of a one way street-so go slowly because if you miss it you have to detour around again. Definitely worth the journey and very good value.
