Ssssshhh we don’t want everyone to know. But Lussmann’s in Hitchin is such a great place to meet & eat. Us three ladies eat there regularly for our special life events. I had an excellent meal which was beautifully presented. Really really tasty, fish and superb starter and desert courses. I was made to feel welcome as a woman dining alone, and the service was exemplary.

The staff were noticeably above and beyond.. such lovely people and a real credit to the restaurant. The setting was warm, cosy and intimate… and the food was very good. I was there with friends and we’ve booked to go back in January :)

The food was nice but nothing special, some of the starters were a little bland tasting and my partners fish was slightly over cooked, but still tasty. My partner ordered the chocolate mousse with nut brittle, unfortunately after the order was taken the waitress returned to say that they were sorry but they never had any brittle, she did offer an alternative but my partner opted to just have the mousse plain. No issues, but the difference between ok service and good service would have been for the price to have been dropped slightly for the £7.50 pudding, just the difference between ok and good. The meal cost £180 which included the £20 service charge, I’ve got no real complaints but equally I’ve no reason to return. For £180 pound I think there’s alternative better options.

Excellent food and service throughout the evening. The complementary ice cream (with candle) for my girlfriend’s birthday was a really nice touch. Will definitely be coming back.

We have visited most of the other Lussmanns restaurants but first visit to Hitchin. 8.30 table on a Friday not that busy. Service was a bit chaotic. No fish and chips left, so our friends were disappointed! Not sure how a restaurant runs out of one of their best sellers. Our food was delicious and we will probably return.

Our food on the fixed price menu was very good - especially an amazing sole which was large and great value for the price. Good friendly service - only downside was a table next to us of three young ladies having a loud birthday lunch! They seem to have forgotten they were in a restaurant and others might want to hear themselves think! We like Lussmans - simple menu with food generally well cooked and very good value.

Meals always excellent at Lussmann's. Our favourite is the Hitchin one but we have eaten at all of the others (Berkhampsted excepted) and they are all very good. We recommend them strongly to our friends and aquaintances.

Lovely evening at lussmans- food was great although the shepherds pie was slightly overdone. We decided to have a coffee at the end of the meal which was so disappointing- really bitter and unpleasant- neither of us could drink it ! What a shame . Otherwise great experience.

Very good, as always. Service is best described as unrushed but this can border on slow for some people. I wouldn’t lunch here if I had time constraints! My only complaint, shared by all of us, was that the soup was rather lukewarm. Other than that excellent quality of food.

Food and service is always a high standard. Fish is delicious and puddings just the right size without over indulging. Had lunch with a friend main and pudding, no other food needed for the day. Would definitely recommend.

The service couldn’t faulted. Friendly without being intrusive. Food was lovely and wine was very good. My son enjoyed the non alcoholic cocktail and I was delighted that decaff coffee wasn’t butter like decaff so often is

Lussmanns - so many things to like! Ethical and sustainable sourcing, excellent cooking, pleasant service. This is the sort of neighbourhood restaurant that it sommon in any French town, but sadly, all too rare here, where eating out it more viewed as some sort of spectucular and the attention is more on the room and trendy ingredients than on the food. Bravo, Lussmanns.

Very friendly and efficient staff , nice atmosphere, great food and quality service. Certainly a place I would recommend and more than happy to return soon and try the other dishes that must be so tasteful as it sounds when reading the menu.

Food and service were both up to their usual high standard. Our waitress was particularly bright and welcoming. A minor observation was the round marble table top (table 3) which was in need of a good clean to remove some staining and bring out the shine. The blue floor lamp also needed dusting inside the shade to remove some cobwebs.
