In 1900, Queen Victoria dropped into Luttrellstown Castle to have Afternoon Tea with her friend Lord Annaly. Afternoon Tea was a favourite occasion of every former owner of the castle and it’s easy to see why with its perfectly cut sandwiches, piping-hot tea and the most delectable hand-made deserts. Now, you’re invited to pay tribute to this special centuries-old tradition with the best Afternoon Tea in Dublin, presented to perfection by a team of well-dressed waiters, in the magical surroundings of Luttrellstown Castle Resort. Please note that Afternoon Tea is served on selected dates throughout the year. Please contact us for more information.
Afternoon Tea €50.00pp
Champagne Afternoon Tea €65.00pp
Very disappointing experience there was no variation on the sandwiches so we were limited to two types. We asked for no cheese so I’m assuming they weren’t making the sandwiches up fresh since they didn’t accommodate. The desserts were terrible even the scones tasted like baking powder. Very over priced we won’t be returning. Table was very low and uncomfortable
Beautiful castle, gorgeous food, lovely ambiance, friendly pleasant staff. Brought my parents for afternoon tea as a Christmas treat, we all really enjoyed it.
Second time for afternoon tea at Luttrellstown Castle this Christmas and some areas for improvement needed as it is an expensive treat. Fantastic to have access to the castle bedrooms something very different and completely adds to the experience. Bar staff were quite poor; €10 for a glass of prosecco and it was only filled halfway. A little petty you might say but when I drew it to the bar staff's attention, he stated "I did fill it" very rudely. Half an hour before any staff came to our table; once they did they were attentive following. The sandwiches were poor but the cakes/treats were delicious. Mixed experience being honest but I would recommend for the sheer experience of the castle & the grounds.
I treated my bestie to afternoon tea for her special birthday last weekend. Stunning venue for afternoon tea. Great service. Friendly staff. Delicious food and great variety of teas on offer. The highlight was being able to walk around the castle viewing the fabulous rooms. Such a hidden gem and a real treat. Would highly recommend ;)
Had a lovely afternoon in Luttrellstown Castle, the room is lovely & the atmosphere cosy. We really enjoyed the beautiful piano music and took the opportunity to tour the castle after we ate.
The service, however, was a little lacking, the server forgetting to provide a Tea strainer when the menu has such a range of teas was annoying especially as it took nearly 10mins for him to come back around to us to see if we needed anything further. My husband is a coffee drinker and was only given a small cup of coffee, with one late offer of a refill.
The tables and chairs are quite low and we were offered the sofa, not usually a problem however at 36 weeks pregnant it was a struggle to get in and out of and reach the food items. When I requested a normal table and chair I was told it was full. Might be something someone elderly would like to bare in mind when booking.
The food was nice but at €50 pp I was expecting something outstanding and unfortunately it did not deliver. Pleasant but not outstanding.
Amazing place. Just an extraordinary experience. This was not just Afternoon Tea, it was also a piece of history that our waiter/host used time to tell us about. We also got a tour of the inside Castle. Wow.......Best Ever.
The atmosphere and service was top quality and I had really such a wonderful day with my daughters. We came for afternoon tea, and had called ahead to book a table and dietary requirements. As there was an option to order vegan version, I did so for the 3 of us. On arrival i was presented with salad bowl and salad sandwich, which wasnt very creative. As for the kids they were served ham and nutella sandwiches, which I sent back and was replaced with another nutella sandwich and a bowl of salad. Its very disencouraging for young persons to be eating healthy, with open palet, opting meat free and only being served Rocket after having sent back a selection of sandwiches. They love vegetables more than most adults, but do not wish to graze on plain salad either. As for dessert it was a fruit skewer and a ball of rasberry sorbet, comapred to selection of desserts and cakes that others were served next to us. It was tooeasy to offer fruit, no preparation and the kind easily available in all shops. I loved our time in the castle grounds, but I feel the food offered lacked any preparation or creativity. Its easy to offer vegan food that is full of flavour/texture and nutrition, but we were left wanting during our tea, even tho I had asked about beforehand, there was no effort to provide anything specially made, simply thrown together on our arrival.
I hope to be back someday, and that the food will leave me as fulfilled as the scenery.
Our visit was for afternoon tea. The greeting at the door was very professional but also very casual & friendly - you immediately felt welcome. We were invited to view some of the rooms including the library and a bedroom suite - both very impressive.
Afternoon tea itself was excellent. It began with an excellent glass of champagne and followed with a nice selection of savory and sweet items and a comprehensive tea menu.
Service at our table was again very professional and friendly and the pianist was excellent.
The room was very attractive and it was clear to see that it (and much of the castle) had recently been decorated.
Overall a very enjoyable visit
Very attentive service, beautiful surroundings, after our tea which was beautifully served, we got to explore the castle & all the sumptuous bedrooms, one more gorgeous than the next. A really lovely afternoon treat!
Lutterlstown Castle is beautiful, I couldn't fault it we were made feel very special the whole experience was exceptional. We will be back :)
I loved the afternoon tea and the overall ambience. I would however have preferred an option to have more savouries instead of cakes. There should have been twice the amount of sandwiches. For that reason it was overpriced for what we got as we did not eat most of the cakes.
The service and venue were superb.
An amazing experience would highly recommend the afternoon tea
Great service and setting.
However, the actual tea and food was not great.
The tea was very cold- even when a new pot was ordered.
The portion sizes were very small and lacked variety.
Value for money was bad despite the beautiful location.
I would return to other locations such as the Westbury for afternoon tea ahead of this location as for the same price you get alot better value for money.
Disappointed overall and feel slightly cheated on the value side.
We really enjoyed our Afternoon tea. Castle is amazing.
The outside and hallway looked great but the Van Stry Room could have been more festive and an actual open fire would be a good addition. The delays in serving were a bit excessive ( if you consider forty five minutes from being seated excessive). The piano player , while very good , came over too loudly and drowned conversation.
The food itself was very tasty.
Loved seeing the castle it was fab . Staff were lovely afternoon tea was lovely great experience .Would love to have an over night stay there one day shame it's for private rental only.
We totally enjoyed the afternoon tea at Luttrellstown Castle last Sunday - would highly recommend it, will definitely return again.
The venue was spectacular. Especially being able to walk around the castle afterward. Although the service was excellent the food was average. The scones were nice, Sandwiches poor, the baileys cheese cakes really depends if you like baileys or not.
The three generations of my family enjoyed every minute of our afternoon tea. The beautiful surroundings, food and service were top class. Our waitress ( blond girl) was so warm and welcoming, she made the occasion magical throughout.
Couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough. Will definitely be back soon.
Thank you all.
Alanna, thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon. We visited luttrellstown castle for afternoon tea for my moms 70th birthday. What a truly magical place. My mom lived here for a number of years and was even married from here so it was fabulous to get to see the castle. The food was absolutely gorgeous , there was three generations of us including a child of 11 , she loved all the food served up to her too. The staff went above and beyond to cater for one of our party being dairy free. Really attentive and friendly staff, we might just have to make this annual thing. Thank you luttrellstown castle.
The ambiance was lovely.Staff and service good.Food was disappointing. Sandwiches and scones were poor.
There was a Pianist playing which was lovely however due to the existing noise in the room, (there was a vey large group situated at the top centre of the room) the pianist played quite loud. This resulted in an atmosphere which wasn't that relaxing. We mentioned it to the staff who attentively said this to the pianist. The pianist came over to us three times and mentioned about how she had to play loud as a result of the large group. I'm not sure why the staff told her it was us who complained as having her come over multiple times didn't make us feel great. Service was good standard. Food ok. Disappointing that one the desserts came in a plastic container rather than a nice glass.
I won't be going back unfortunately which is a shame as the setting is beautiful.
Such a beautiful location and the live piano playing really added to the atmosphere. Was wonderful that we could have a look around the castle at our leisure.
The staff were friendly. They seemed a little unsure of the food they were serving. Champagne was delicious and very good quality and the selection of teas as well. The sandwiches and scones were very nice.
What a diamond of a venue
Afternoon tea for my sisters
Presented and served
Lovely piano playing live during afternoon tea was a lovely touch.
We also got to explore the venue
which was just stunning, a total
step back in a time gone by.
Highly reccoment it 👍
Fantastic venue. Food delicious. Staff were very attentive and service absolutely excellent. Would have no hesitation in recommending Luttrelstown Castle to family and friends.
Very disappointed in the unfestive atmosphere of our trip to Luttrellstown Castle recently which we had very much been looking forward to. Overpriced and over rated. Difficulty in gaining access to Castle. Waited 45 minutes for our table. No festive spirit at all. Staff were young but friendly but place seemed to lack management. Piano player was a welcomed addition to the dining room .
My mother and sisters had a lovely Afternoon Tea at Luttrellstown Castle. The surroundings, service and food were excellent. I would highly recommend it.
Went back here for an anniversary lunch as we got married here 5 years ago and loved returning with our kids. Service was exceptional and the staff could not do enough to look after us all. Highly recommended
fabulous service and setting. got to have a look around the house too which is amazing. would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
Lovely afternoon for a treat with friends. Room was really lovely, very relaxing, and tea was great.
I love the personnel, in particular concierge & pianist!
Absolutely top class. Nothing too much trouble. Just perfect. Lovely savouries and sweets and attentive but.not intrusive service. Wouldnt do it every Sunday but perfect for this. We nearly had to be evicted!
Beautiful setting and great food.Service was excellent .well recommended.
The staff had a great deal of knowledge and very friendly. Thank you very much.
Excellent staff. Wonderful setting. Loved the opportunity to see around the grounds of the castle. Grateful that we were offered a "doggy bag" to take home any good we had left. Can't wait to return.
Amazing Afternoon Tea at the Castle could not recommend this place enough. Staff were all amazing and the manager Ivan was the perfect host. Looking forward to coming back soon.
